I bought this GPS a few weeks ago and love it. I downloaded the free upgrade from Garmin no problem. I have used it for both vehicle and pedestrian mode. This was an awesome deal! Garmin is the best brand of GPS and this is a great entry level model!!!

Cons: - A newer residential section of my city (up for a couple years now) still does not show up on the unit even with all the newest upgrades and map packs.-No included USB for hooking up to PC

Pros: -Small responsive touchscreen-Very easy to use, I've figured everything out without the need of the instruction manual.
Comment:
Just purchased this when it was on sale for $99, and it's a great bang for your buck. It does a great job of achieving it's main purpose without a lot of feature bloat. I haven't used it for any long trips yet, but it works well to navigate around my city. This is my first GPS unit and I would recommend this to other people looking for a GPS unit that just works without a lot of bells and whistles.

Pros: - Sturdy- Great display- Good package & accessories- Garmin support (great web update  tool and painless updating process)- Fast satellite acquisition
Comment:
This is my first GPS. I bought it because the unit was on sale for 99$, and I had previously read good reviews on this unit from a printed source.I had little to no expectations, even considering it was a Garmin unit... and was happily surprised! This little GPS is great: it acquires satellites very quickly, has a great display, a very user friendly interface (I still haven't looked at the instruction manual) and Garmin support and maps are great.Case and point: I tested the unit on my way to the cottage (VERY rural area) and the unit not only picked up 99% of the streets and roads, but almost all of the restaurants, gas stations and other ameneties. Cannot be beat for the price!

Cons: Just not as detailed as previous generations, it doesnt show all the street names but I believe garmin is doing that on purpose.

Pros: Easy to use, finds satellites fast, very responsive

Got this GPS a few days ago and had a decent amount of time to played around with it. It boots up very fast, and its very accurate on where it takes me. I love the TTS, tells me not only to "turn right" but also the street name, which is a very good help sometimes because you cant be bothered to read the street names all the time, and it alerts you if you dont frequently look at the GPS, allowing you to pay more attention to the road.I've read reviews elsewhere saying this is a very good GPS, I can attest to that.

I am really happy with it - it's maps seem up to date. The timing of turning prompts is perfect - first well in advance, and the next when you are right on top of the turn. I like that I can tell it what I want to avoid and the like. It's an insurance policy if I get caught in a terrible tie up and so far have used it on several long weekends where I was not familiar with the area at all. I like it's database of shopping and restaurants too...

Biggest plus: can be used right away out of box. Worked well on my first two uses. Successfully updated database via website, but was disappointed that it did not recognize a secondary road parallel to a main road near my house. Found Garmin Mapsource on desktop difficult to understand and use. (You are supposed to be able to create and transfer things back and forth between gps and desktop.) I am 61; not intuitive at all; Garmin needs to post a how to use video tutorial on website for older people like me.

Bought this GPS for my wife to navigate her way around Los Angeles, CA. Worked for her perfectly. Would have been nice if Garmn included a wall charger, but luckily my Blckberry curve wall charger works with it. There is a car charger, but its nice to give it a full charge over night and use it cordless. Dont forget the car charger though because after about 4 hours of straight use you'll need it. I'm a pilot and I trust Garmin to get me from point A to B in the sky. Garmn has been in the GPS business for a long time making aviation GPS systems long before these types of handheld units for driving existed. Also, maps arent cheap so I wanted a manufacture that I knew would be around for a long time to support their product. This GPS is very-very easy to use. Touch screen is accurate and overall the GPS is feature rich with quick find options for food and gas stations. It is superior in comparison to the GPS in my Caddy Escalade. I highly recommend this GPS

Bought this for my wife. She loves it! Can't stop playing with it. She misses turns on purpose to try to fool the unit. No luck fooling it so far. Recommend this product hightly.

This is the first GPS I have owned. Very easy to use. Seems very accurate. Some little quirks. When it recalulates a route sometimes the suggested way isn't the best or easiest. Also didn't recognize some small streets as one way (wanted me to turn the wrong way). I'm guessing problems like that may be common with all GPS units. Still very pleased with the unit.

I shopped around for weeks before deciding on this model. It is very easy to use & understand. I was able to connect to my computer using the USB for my blackberry so I didn't need to purchase any extras. I liked that once I registered there were features to download., other "cars" and voices. I am very happy I picked the Garmin.

I purchased this particular unit for it's data logging capability. I need to map routes in detail including direction, speed, stops and time. This unit performs well to the task. I would have gotten a dedicated data logger but this unit has enough additional capabilities to make it a must have item. Seems to need about 20 seconds register the stop. That is enough. Most stops are about 30 to 60 seconds. So, if you are looking for a bus route mapper, look no further. You will need some software. I use Google Earth and Google Maps. There may be better software but this works.

I got lost in Atlanta, reading my printout with directions. However, I got ONE wrong exit, and then I spent the next hour and a half with right left right and so on Well I finally got back home and ordered the Garmin Nuvi 225W; just like all my electronics needs from here. The following week I had to go back to Atlanta, driving all across and back without any problems. In addition, I found even a new shortcut getting back home. I had no problem learning to use this super tool in les than 10 minutes! Sure, I still learn some tricks and shortcuts with the 255W whenever I have time to read the instructions. The important measure is that youre able to use this amazing GPS in just a few minutes. It is almost impossible to miss an exit with this talking companion. A compliment to the store: Thank you for your great communication, fair prices and super fast delivery! I recommend the Garmin Nuvi 255W to everyone using a vehicle and I definitely recommend this site as my favorite pl

I bought the Nuvi 255 as an upgrade of an older Garmin C340. I really liked the C340, but the Nuvi has a few features that make it even better. The fonts are a little easier to read, especially in sunlight. The screen now shows not only how far it is to the next turn, but in which direction (and what type of turn -- and exit or a hard turn) that turn will be also. It has a "where am I?" feature that's useful in emergencies (I hope I never have to use that feature, but it gives me peace of mind knowing it's there). It now constantly shows speed and the posted speed limit. And, it has a feature that allows you to save your current location. All in all, it was money well spent.
