This does it all. After a 3,000 mile trip, it had only a few problems, 10 hours of nonstop use it must have over heated and froze, it reset fine, the L key is touchy about working. It made our trip the easiest ever. Finding stores and shops without leaving your car was great. The large screen is a must for us older drivers. We love this unit.

Have to agree with other reviewers this does it all. I refused to buy a GPS unless it had hands free and the ability to detect and reroute me from traffic jams. I had a trip to my son's who called me along the way to pick up dinner. I used POI to tell me what was available and how close to me and my son's place. I found what I wanted called hands free placed an order for pick up and redirected the GPS to go their first. It took me right to the place picked up the food continued onward to my son's using the GPS. Couldn't image what I would have had to do without the GPS. Prices have started to come down on the 1490T better value than before. Only thing to be carefull about is uploading updated maps the first time you only have a short time to (days) to do it. Since it is new hard to find a cover for it but found an Atari case that fits perfectly and for much less than the Garmin case that wasn't available at the store.

If you want a portable GPS unit, that does it ALL, look no further than this. I bought one for my new car (which doesn't offer NAV as an option). It has all the features (and more), that my wife's optional equipment NAV system in her Mercedes does not! I was skeptical. I've only had automobile manufacturer's optional equipment in my previous cars. I never thought this
