Cons: Bit tricky to get your first free map from Garmin but one call to their support sorts the issue.

Pros: Big screen, great price on refurbs
Comment:
This isn't so much a review of the unit itself - there are plenty of those on the web - but more about the "refurbished" unit. I picked this up on a price match for less than $100 and couldn't be happier. In my case, the only way I knew it was a refurb was the generic box it came in. All the accessories (mount, cord, etc.) seemed to be new examples (in factory wrapping) and the unit itself showed absolutely no signs of wear. I could tell it had been 'officially' inspected because there was a new screen protector film on the unit and zero fingerprints. The good NCIX folks at the Coquitlam store kindly let me open it and power on in front of them to make sure there weren't any glaring issues like a cracked screen or no boot and on ANYTHING refurbished I'd do the same. The included map was about a year old so the first thing I did was go to the Garmin site to get my one free 'nuMaps' guarantee. As I had read on the net the automatic online serial number checker didn't work but a quick call to their tech support (five minutes and a follow-on email of my invoice) had me downloading a fresh map. I'm not sure if you have 30, 60, or 90 days to do this but I wanted mine asap. I'm also not sure if the clock starts ticking from your invoice date or your first satellite link but there's plenty of time if you don't procrastinate.Overall, I would have absolutely NO hesitations in buying this as a refurb unit based on my experience. Of course, your milage may vary but give it a try and save yourself a good bit of cash to pay for the petrol and the nifty Yoda voice add-on.Happy Travels!- MH

Cons: - If you want the accessory (010-11280-00) to put the unit on ur dash rather than on the wind shield, it's very hard to find and online it's so overpriced, starting at 25$ just for a rubbber/plastic accessory... ridiculous.

Pros: - Real bargain when buying refurbished and honnestly it's the same d*mn thing!- Wow it's only +0.7in over my Garmin 255W but it makes a huge difference to have 5 inchs since unlike when you measure ur genitals, it's in diagonal rather than just in straight line so it makes a bigger difference! Also it's thiner than my 255W.- The cable in the car to charge the GPS is much better than the one from previous Garmin. It's thicker and smoother.- The plastic behind the gps is rubberized and really soft and nice to the touch.- The touch screen is much more reactive than previous Garmmin.- The icons and the whole interface is really enhanced over the Garmin 255W.

It was a steal at only 100$ + "Free Ground Shipping for this item" when I bought it even thought it's refurbished. You know it's the same as brand new and still comes with a 1 year warrenty but you save easily 40% of the price lol. I remember 1.5 years ago I bought my Garmin 255W here for something between 120-150$ and now I get this Garmin 1450 that is way better.. for only 100$?! Haha nice! That means once I'll sell my 255W for 75-80$ my upgrade will have cost only 25-30$ which is nothing considering how much better it is over my previous gps!
