Cons: Not a huge concern, on several of these models there's a slight temperature variance readings (1 to 3 degrees) even with a fan in front of them

Pros: Retail packaging32 mb of cacheComes with 1-sata cable and 4 hard drive screws7200 RPM (Fast enough for me)
Comment:
These retail version of the model runs a little cooler (temp based on software) than the oem 'b' and 'c' packaged models. Nicely packaged with the drive suspended between two plastic ends in a cardboard box and it comes with 1 sata cable and 4 screws. When these go on sale with a rebate, it's hard to pass up on these for storage/backup, just make sure you read and fill out the form correctly. Cons: none

Pros: Quiet, Sata cable included

Bought this on sale for $59.99. I already had a couple of Hitachi SATA150 drives that have been problem free. This one is nice and quiet. Can't comment on long term reliability, but I've never had problems with any Deskstar, and Seagate WD seem to have issues nowadays.

Cons: not yet known

Pros: Well package and come with a cable
Comment:
I got it for $65.99 with a price match. It is quite economical to use for storage. I usually buy seagate brand but I have read quite a few unfavorable reviews on its 500gb harddrive. So I try out this hard drive to see how it works out.

Cons: -Hate MIRs but price OK even if does not go thru-Bit warmer/noisier than some others, not major though-Reliability??

Pros: -Retail box vs OEM-$59.99 weekly sale(less $10 rebate)-Great for extra storage-No Worry about new 4K sectors issues
Comment:
Purchased for external/portable storage, works great for this. Did try it as an O/S (XP Pro) drive just for curiousity, worked fine and about average speeds for 1gb drives. Time will tell on the reliability side. No 4K sector to worry about so can move from storage to older O/S later.

Cons: Runs hot and is noisy

Pros: Plenty of space for very little cost
Comment:
One out of three drives was DOA. The other two are working perfectly (for now). They're not high-performance drives and are great for storage. Runs a little hot and is noisy, but tolerable.

Cons: Not Quite as Fast as other 500GB Platter Drives

Pros: Sale PriceI/O SpeedLow TemperatureFairly Quiet
Comment:
Hitachi has been putting out decent but not spectacular drives at very affordable prices for some time now. Might be a side result of their hard drive business taking a beating in the market though =(.This drive is plenty fast for I/O and throughput speed, pretty quiet and cool, and draws fairly low power as is to be expected with a 500GB platter drive. I'm a bit disappointed that it's not that much better than the previous 320GB platter Hitachi drives; also it doesn't measure up quite as good as the Samsung F3s.Overall it's a decent drive at a decent price.

Cons: none

Pros: Good price, nice performance
Comment:
This is a good hard drive, it has been reliable for me. I used this as a storage drive, and later coverted it into an OS drive. It may not be the fastest, but it is pretty decent. It does seem a little noisy though. Comes with sata cable

Cons: Rien à signalé.

Pros: Bon manufacturier.Boite de vente au détail.Silencieux.Ne chauffe pas beaucoup.Bon rapport GB/$
Comment:

Cons: not free

Pros: Cheap,fast, not OEM
Comment:
This drive is cheap and comparing to my Western Digital 1tb black, this drive is only 1ms slower access time but it reads about 20mb/s faster.

Cons: 3 year warranty as opposed to most manufacturer's 5 year

Pros: FastVery QuietCheap32 MB BufferComes with SATA cable WITH CAPS!!!!!Attractive packaging???? WTF!
Comment:
I actually bought this from a local supplier using NCIX's sale price for a PM. Sorry NCIX but I couldn't wait on shipping. Since then I've seen it for 5 clams cheaper on NCIX...oh well.Anyway, I'm really happy with this drive. It's SUPER quiet. I have yet to hear it seek with a very quite system. In fact, while testing the only thing running was the CPU fan and a very quiet Zalman GPU cooler and I heard bupkis from this drive while installing the OS.It also seems very fast. I don't have HDDtach data to back that up as I'm still slowly putting together the rig but it sure seems fast. And without all the grinding noise I'm used to from my current drives. And finally it's really cheap. Way cheaper than comparable drives. I don't know if this is because of the 3 year warranty or what. Maybe Hitachi is trying to be a bigger player in the HDD marketplace and pricing drives very aggressively is part of their evil plan. Who knows? All I know is that I highly recommend this drive for price, performance and sound suppression.

Cons: None.

Pros: Very quiet.Great $ per GB ratio.Perfect for the average user that's going to be storing lots of video files without spending a lot of money.3 year warranty.
Comment:
This drive is a big leap in quality over the Deskstar series. This drive is much more quiet and I have no issues like I was getting with the Deskstar series.I store loads of movies and video clips and this drive is perfect for all those big files. The drive has a 3 year warranty, which isn't as the 5 years being offered by some HD makers but is adequate.
