Cons: No bluetooth (wasn't an issue for me).600px height can be a little annoying on some websites.
Pros: Matte screen.Long battery.Keyboard may as well be fullsized (it's excellent).Quiet. Lightweight. Small. Can easily be used for reading e-books when flipped sideways.Great function key controls, screen brightness, etc. Comment:
I needed a new laptop for school this fall, and the a netbook was exactly what I was looking for. Low cost but still robust enough to perform basic word processing, coding, and internet dabbling for hours at a time.I narrowed down my choices to an EEEPC or an Aspire One, and ultimately went with the EEEPC because I really liked the keyboard, the matte screen, and awesome battery life.Highly highly recommended. Cons: Higher priced than other similar netbooks I guess.
Pros: Great Battery LifeLoud SpeakersVery slick looking! Comment:
This is my first portable computer. But this thing is great for school, extremely light and portable compared to what most other people are lugging around in their bags. It looks great, runs great and the battery life is just awesome. Wasn't expecting it to be this high. |

Cons: Atom N270, 160gb 5400rpm, no built-in SSD for OS, no direct access to HD to change
Pros: Matte screen, size, weight, design, speakers, strong build, Bluetooth, Comment:
I'm very satisfied of this 1005HA version. This is my first netbook. I was waiting for something worth. Specs listed are correct and comes with XP Home SP3 installed, with recovery DVD. Speakers are loud for a netbook. Youtube video play perfectly. The keyboard is perfect, with a nice touch, and good mousepad with MAC-like fingers trick. |

Cons: The keyboard size is just about right - I can't say specifically what I would change but it did take me a couple of days to get used to. The touchpad is discreet and center, as opposed to left of center below the keyboard which means a touch typist like me tends to rub against it.
Pros: Compact and surprisingly powerful (I have Apache,MySQL,PHP, Dreamweaver, Firefox, iTunes and Skype working at acceptable performance). The battery is the best I've seen on any laptop and I easily get 6+hours out of it. Graphics card is excellent and comes with hidden undocumented features (Try Fn+arrow keys to turn the display output 90/180/270/360degrees). Sound quality is acceptable, best with speakers. Internal mic/sound is fine for skype. I choose this over the Acer Aspire - both appear to have the same build except this ASUS EEE 1005HA has a 6cell battery (Acer has 3cell). Netbook size is perfect for reading papers online over breakfast, at Denny's. Being able to switch off the LCD backlight is a bonus when you want to listen to audio only and conserve the removable battery (not all ASUS EEE netbooks permit you to remove the battery). Comment:
I bought this primarily for portability - my 18month old 17" HP laptop is huge, heavy and difficult to carry - I live in EU but travel three or more times a year to BC and risk breaking it. I wanted a more portable machine but dreaded spending huge money. I've also recently bought a motorcycle and started touring Europe (so far I've done five countries) and had thought more than once that it would be great to have something light enough to use for skype, email, surfing and if possible, some Apache/MySQL/PHP development. My big laptop is fine so I really had to build a case to persuade myself to spend any money on buying something some would consider as a replacement machine. This fits - I've used it daily (hours at a time) and am really really impressed. The battery allows me to work long stretches - in fact, I typically plug the netbook in when I am finished to recharge the battery - my normal use is entirely cable/wireless (meaning I use wifi and battery). The fan kicks infequently and I can hear it, but it is not as loud as my HP laptop which almost levitates. The performance is fine - Its not screamingly fast (though it does somehow boot faster than my AMD Dual Core 2Gbyte HP laptop), but performance is perfectly acceptable considering I use it for more than word processing, email and surfing. The only things I have yet to properly master are:1) Not to touch the touchpad while I type.2) I use Firefox tabs and know the keyboard shortcuts to move to/fro consecutively across tabs - these key presses don't work on the ASUS as they have been rather clever with keyboard space. I've somehow managed to scroll to firefox tabs so I know it can be done, but I think it requires 3 simutaneous key presses as opposed to the normal two. This netbook was worth the expense - I'm glad I got it (and I'm glad I bought from NCIX - first found them on Broadway about five years ago in Vancouver when I had a work permit). You guys in North America are spoilt with good customer service but for me, its just a treat (to get quality service at all places, not just NCIX).BTW I copied some DivX movies across to view during my 9hour flight from YVR to AMS and picture quality and sound was fine. |
Bought this netbook for my cousin, its great for the typical web processing and internet surfing especially with it's long battery life. Don't expect to play demanding games or HD videos as this is a NETBOOK
