Will use it transportable for digital communications (HAM radio operator) I installed the latest Ver of CPU-Z and it reported 1gb of DDR-2 memory not DDR-three as advertised. I bought the 2gb Important mem upgrade DDR-3 but will not install until I hear from Newegg with regards to their return policy if I open package and the DDR-three fails to function in personal computer. About anything is wonderful about this netbook. It's quickly,stable,responsive, and light. Installed 2gig of ram into this and it's just great along with the dual core atom with hyperthreading and the Nvidia ION. Plays youtube 1080p videos with no lag. None, count on that it comes with windows 7 starter and a bunch of unnecessary applications. Suprisingly rapidly and capable machine. upgraded ram to 2GB and installed XP pro. I utilized Patriot memory. I assume it was 10600 ddr3 1333 mhz. It shouldve worked but didnt. CPU Z stated it was running ddr2 so Ill trust that third aspect more than ASUS Ram was only operating at 800mhz. Looks fantastic. Nicely initially off let me say its DDR2 NOT DDR3. Cpuid reads it at ddr2 400mhz (which is 800). I installed a Patriot ddr3 chip in there and it doesnt boot at all. I assume they have a distinct method of booting than a Computer but not booting at all is a excellent sign of wrong RAM kind. Place the unlabeled chinese ram chip back in and it runs fine. Im pretty certain ASUS is/was trying to place 1 over on newegg it even says DDR3 on the box. Possibly Newegg doesnt test products. I doubt Im the only 1 with this issue. You can get a substantially better netbook with ddr3 ram and a complete version of windows for the similar cost. Do that. ASUS has stabbed me in the side every time Ive ordered a product from them. A monitor had dead pixels correct in the middle but it wasnt...15 or one thing stupid that would merit a return. Now this? DDR2 advertised as DDR3? You may possibly believe Im upset over nothing but the diverse of ddr2 and ddr3 is massive especially if you purchased a ddr3 two gig chip and now have to wait 2 weeks for all your dollars back. This is my third netbook and it has impressive speed, a great screen for the resolution and an OK keyboard. Microsoft and their idiotic promoting selling neutered versions of their application ... hey Ballmer and Gates ... bite me. You require to check memory specs, not all DDR3 2GB chips will perform in this box from reviews. The CT25664BC1339 chip functions fine, as recommended by other individuals. It is DDR3. The chips are not interchangeable, yo! The Intel web page indicates this CPU works with DDR3 ONLY. The problem with this unique pc is that it is finicky about memory. I've read to quickly update the BIOS and use distinct memory chips and I did. The two GB is still low, but 1 GB memory in 2011 is basically crazy.You can get a substantially more quickly personal computer for much less income but not at this weight. I really wished they put a greater res screen in this one particular ... oh nicely. |

ty you mentioned it does not have ddr3 what mfr did you buy the ram from simply because i have this laptop and i upgraded it with essential ddr3 2gb ram and it works excellent.i really like this issue the battery functions a complete day for me and the keyboard is good.this tiny point gets warm on the left side exactly where the fan is and blows hot air all the time but it is nice and quiet most of the time. enjoy overclock the gpu to 600mhz and the cpu to 1750mhz and play games thought it had usb three. but it doesnt it has bluetooth 3..i had to upgrade to win 7 residence to even use it like a laptop.somtimes flash video has a green bar at the best but if i play with the settings i can make it go away.the setting for 1024x768 is not available any longer given that i updated drivers i appreciate this thing after i updated the ram and window 7. linux runs funny and will only see 1 gpu and installs the incorrect drivers. i wish it was straightforward to get to the tough drive but i adore all the space available on the 250gb it comes with. |

- Quickly, not a desktop but faster than any netbook and some laptops ive used- The nVidia ion is wonderful- This runs a few of my games fairly smoothly, I was not expecting that- It has superior battery life and you can swap among the onboard and the ion graphics cardsWorks nicely with the prepared boost function- supports DDR3! quick memory- Quite little and portable- Adore the matte finish, no fingerprints - I wish it came with a higher speed HDD- Only a GB of mem but i put a 2GB stick in it- HDD not assessable, i bought a new one but it looks like i have to tear the thing apart to put it in and b/c of that i haven't but.- WIndows 7 Starter and crapware, I wiped it clean and loaded windows 7 ultimate- The camera could be a bit far better, i like the camera on the hp netbooks I would acquire another and love the one i have. To get the most out of it though i would suggest windows 7 ultimate, a 2GB stick of ram, and if you can replacing the HDD. Wonderful netbook! Way quicker than i believed it would be. Video processor is superb for minor graphic intense applications and Netflix. Open office and office 2010 work excellent.
