Finds and receives all nearby over-the-air digital broadcasts (woo-hoo - all 5 of them in my region). Can't locate the analog and digital channels that my bargain-basement flat-screen Television can, on my TimeWarner cable. Am operating without having a cable box, and Tv finds 30+ channels. The WinTV-HVR-1600 finds three - all of them useless ones that nobody ever would watch. The scheduler in WinTV7 doesn't operate. When I enter a time/date/channel to record and press the "OK" button, practically nothing happens: doesn't enter it into the schedule. So, I can record only if I am present at my Pc and manually press the "record" button. Kinda useless, eh? Am operating Win7-64.Sent email to Hauppauge over a week ago relating to the problem with it scanning my cable channels. and got no response. The CD that comes with the product is useless - don't even put it into your computer. Instead, go to their website and download WinTV7.

Functions as advertized. Will record and play at the exact same time. Visual Interface is terrible and challenging to use, so little you can't see it. Use MS Media Center then all is ok. Ought to have a graphics card with at least 64 megs of memory or the Television card will not function, period. You will get an error message that states "files cannot be loaded". Product Difficulty Shooting instructions do not cover this, MS does at their Meadi Center Assist pages and covers the fix. Need to have at least 1 gig of ram memory. Remember you only get Channels 1 thru 99.

-Digital and analog tuning, great for recording an HD broadcast and analog "basic" cable at the identical time-Totally compatible with Mythbuntu 9.04-Recognized by my Harmony 880 remote -Not offered as a PCIe card (seems Hauppauge does not provide a PCIe card with help for analog in Myth/Linux)-Mythbuntu 9.ten broke the incorporated remote (and 10.04 has not fixed the problem) due to some sort of driver situation, had to order a affordable USB MCE remote to replace it, but otherwise operates ok in 9.10 and later.-I realize the IR blaster was also bricked in 9.10, but I do not use that function Get the version of this card with the USB/MCE remote, this one makes use of one wire for each the blaster and the remote receiver.Would love to give it five stars, but the bricked remote in Mythbuntu prevents it.

Sensitive tuner for antenna connection, remote handle functions with Vista media center. I can locate my recorded programs employing the remote manage and Vista media center The hardware is fine, I think Vista is sluggish responding to remote commands. The tuner and the remote perform fine, but controlling Vista media center with the remote can be frustrating. The pc takes a lengthy time to respond to commands from the remote, so I press the button a number of instances, and overshoot the command.

Price is reasonable, hardware decoding and of course Newegg shipping was fast. Incorporated RCA to S-Video converted only made black and white with lots of interference lines. I mostly bought this to convert VHS tapes to MPEGs.I assumed the incorporated RCA to S-Video converter would operate, but it did not and I had to pay an extra ů.98 to get a Rosewill adapter

- Ordered from Newegg on threeቮቦ at about 6 PM and it arrived at my front door at fourᛆ PM on threeቯቦ. Really quick delivery!- Functions exactly as it is supposed to- Low cost compared to any DVR out there. - When I set it to full screen, the resolution is fairly poor. I am employing a Acer 24" widescreen LCD monitor set at 1080p and this item doesn't help that higher of a res. If I preserve it set in a window at about half the monitor's size, the quality is excellent. Extremely great product at a decent value. Dropped 1 egg for the lack of 1080p assistance. Nowadays, everything is HD. I was hoping for maybe a driver update or something that would support 1080p but so far I havent located 1. If your searching for a low cost option to a DVR, this is it. Haupaugge has a number of diverse versions of Tv tuners for diverse rates but in the end, they all do quite much the exact same issue. Unless your Seriously picky, go with this more affordable model more than the much more pricey one particular. You wont be disappointed.

Good video from an antenna connection. Ubuntu 10.ten finds the right video driver, cx18. I could under no circumstances get the infrared remote to operate with Mythbuntu 10.04 or 10.10. I ended up getting a inexpensive MCE remote with an IR receiver.

Effortless installation, XP64 discovered it, asked for CD and installed drivers, then I installed the WinTV7 app, rebooted and scanned for channels, almost everything OK. Functions as excellent or better than the other brand HDTV card (which does not assistance 64bit drivers) I had in my old 32bit method. No directions on utilizing the remote handle. If watching ATSC channel you require to enter a code number instead of the channel quantity, check the channel listing to uncover the codes. Application stops responding when switching from ATSC to Analog channel. Subtract one egg. I purchased this at a regional retailer for for the exact same price with tax as Newegg's price tag with shipping due to the fact I did not want to wait for delivery.

Incredibly nice card. I use it with fundamental TWC in NY, so its running analog. cant see any. Attempted to get this card to operate with Mythbuntu 9.04 but under no circumstances could figure out what I was doing incorrect. But Myth says its a supported card. The IR I couldn't get to work either. But I admit I was attempting to get the card it self to work initial. But Im running it on a vista ultimate machine now and it runs great.

Perform fine recording analog channels with Snapstream Beyond Television or streaming via Orb. Attempted to record shows (QAM) with WinTV. Effectively recorded QAM HD 1080i show for two hrs 10 minutes. ྭ.4GB .ts file) Attempted a second QAM HD show 鼐p) afterwards which must have recorded for an hour, but only recorded for a few minutes, then abruptly quit. (Size was 339MB) Hauppauge TVServer nevertheless showed running OK in Windows activity manager. Later attempted yet another QAM 񡺸i) recording for 20 minutes and it only recorded for 9 minutes, then quit. 鵑MB) Comparable final results from Beyond Television. Have attempted all recordings on various drives. One drive is IDE, other is SATA. Verified drives have tiny if any fragmentation. Method exceeds Hauppauge specifications. Utilized Hauppauge's signal monitor SNR steady at 32.9-33.1. Sent Hauppauge their requested technique files, screenshots, and so forth. Have been back/forth with them for months with weeks in between many replies. Card lastly replaced by them with similar final results. Immediately after hearing absolutely nothing from them for a number of weeks and two emails, I named them. As an alternative of pulling up the case, the tech wanted me to inform him anything that's been done from get started to finish. l will never ever purchase a different Hauppauge item. Lesson learned.

Does tune analog cable and QAM in SD and HD all at the exact same time extremely well if you use a powerful cable signal and a very good pc. You should connect cable to each inputs to do this. Get a cable signal booster if you have reception problems. They perform wonderful. Requires a modern day CPU for excellent HD playback efficiency at full screen. Just about any old computer will operate fine for analog. I originally had this in a P4 three. 2G RAM laptop or computer for a couple years. Worked excellent on analog cable. My cable business considering that added QAM HD channels for neighborhood broadcast and QAM SD for all other channels. Efficiency was terrible on HD and could not view full screen or would lockup totally. I put the 1600 in a Core2duo 2.two and it operates beautifully in HD at complete sceen. Night and day distinction. It now works perfectly.

Both hardware and computer software work with Windows 7. Television comes up on screen with sound. Stuff gets recorded if you want. Configuring software program to function as a single desires is quite time consuming. Configuration routines are not really intuitive. Several pitfalls when attempting to set up channels, etc., if you're picky and want issues just proper, or if your hardware and peripheral selections are not vanilla.WinTV 6.x or WinTV 7, it makes no difference. The ins-and-outs of configuring the software reminds me of reading Chinese installation manuals, translated from Chinese to Engrish by Chinese folks. I spent all Saturday investigating such mysteries as: "Why can't I use source channel 4, my cable box's output channel, and broadcast channel four, which is an actual channel that the IR Blaster must dial up on the cable box? They're two various points. If I assign a unique number to supply channel 4, however leaving the frequency the similar, it doesn't perform. There were quite a few such mysteries that had to be solved, when I could have been fishing, though my WinTV was recording dutifully at household, waiting for it's master to arrive.I'm OK with my obtain, though I positive hope this new computer of mine lasts really some time, simply because I sure don't want to set up Hauppauge's monster once again any time soon.

Not many pros I can consider of. I suppose the software package that came with it serves a objective, but the top quality is horrible. Biggest con: The IR receiver/blaster does not work with Vista or Win7. I searched all over and identified a lot of discussions on how this will only function on XP.The analog signal is fine in the provided software program (WinTV 7) but when viewing in MC7 the video excellent is terrible. Just about not even watchable. Some said this was due to their graphics cards possessing much less than 64mb but I have a 1GB Radeon. Will be returning this for a different Tv tuner. The digital tuner may possibly be fine, I only get analog where I live.If anyone has identified a repair for these difficulty please let me know. The card has prospective.

None so far... Have yet to get it to operate. Only performs in Linux (Ubuntu/Mythbuntu) so far but not even very properly at that. I was genuinely hoping that I would be one of the lucky ones and I could at least pick up QAM channels. Windows XP Residence doesn't pick up something. People are complaining about WinTV app but I honestly believe it is the driver as GBPVR/NPVR doesn't pick up channels either. Also, it doesn't aid reviewing other individuals input about Hauppauge Technical Assistance. I haven't contacted them merely for this explanation (I don't anticipate to hear back from them).I will adhere to up after 1 far more try with Mythbuntu ten.10.

Wonderful picture, easy to set up Remote doesn't operate The picture is beautiful! I have analog cable from the wall and it looks like I'm watching it in HD. I use it on a rapidly gaming personal computer with windows 7 so possibly that assists with the top quality. The analog cable on WinTV looks far better than the analog from the cable box. Get the updates from the site and it will function. I wanted to return it asap because of the driver concerns and no remote, but right after watching the Cavs game in HD I'm keeping it!

Hauppauge WinTV-HVR1600 Dual TV Tuner
WinTV-HVR-1600 brings over-the-air high definition ATSC digital TV, clear QAM digital cable TV and analog cable TV to your PC. Watch and record TV in a window or full screen using high quality MPEG-2.

Clear QAM TV channels are unencrypted digital TV channels broadcast by your local cable operator. Many cable operators in North America are transmitting the high definition ATSC channels on their cable networks. They also broadcast the basic cable channels in using clear QAM. You can use the WinTV v6 application to watch and record these channels.

ATSC digital TV is the over-the-air HD digital TV for North America. ATSC digital TV typically requires an antenna for reception, and is currently broadcast in 200 cities, with over 1500 TV stations. ATSC broadcasts range in resolution from standard definition up to the high definition 1080i format. The WinTV-HVR can be used to watch and record all ATSC formats.
Note: ATSC digital TV is NOT digital cable TV or digital satellite TV. The WinTV-HVR-1600 cannot receive digital satellite TV.

ATSC digital TV brings you sharper pictures and enriches your PC?s multimedia experience with near CD quality sound. WinTV-HVR?s ATSC digital TV tuner adds great features to your TV viewing: high definition TV reception, automatic identification of channel names plus records high-definition digital TV programs to your PC?s hard disk in an MPEG-2 format without any loss in quality.

Create your own personal Digital Video Recorder! Record cable TV or ATSC digital TV shows to disk with MPEG-2. Use the WinTV-Scheduler to schedule the recordings of your favorite analog or ATSC digital TV programs. Play the recordings back to your PC screen at any time.

Control your cable TV or satellite set top box with WinTV-HVR-1600?s IR Blaster. Both the WinTV2000 and WinTV-Scheduler can automatically control the channel on your set top box, so you no longer need to manually change set top box channels.

Are you using Windows XP Media Center Edition or Vista? If so, you can add WinTV-HVR-1600 as either the primary or as the second TV tuner. The Microsoft Media Center application* supports up to two TV tuners, so you can watch one TV channel while recording another! And WinTV-HVR-1600 has Windows Vista Premium certification.

Technically speaking: WinTV-HVR-1600 contains two tuners: a ATSC digital TV tuner for over the air digital TV reception plus a 125-channel cable ready TV tuner. For ATSC digital TV, all 18 ATSC formats including 1080i can be watched or recorded to disk as a Program Stream. A highly integrated MPEG-1/2 hardware encoder is on-board for recording analog cable TV to disk. The playback of the recorded ATSC digital or MPEG-1/-2 encoded analog program is done through a software MPEG-2 player.
