Operates excellent w/ Win 7 x86, Extremely simple installation, Great image top quality, Low profile bracket integrated, two tuners so I can record 1 show and watch a different Incorporated computer software isn't good and it's a tiny pricey I'm using this in a Dell Studio Desktop Slim 540s with Windows 7 Home Premium. (I previously had the single tuner version {HVR-1250} with Vista and was quite disappointed in the analog image good quality and the truth that I couldn't get the higher def channels. Not a suggested combo.) The 2250 and Win 7 Media Center work good collectively. Win 7 identified the card through installation and it just worked. Win 7 also recognizes my Media Center remote. The tuner found all the channels I knew about and a couple of I didn't know Cablevision had. I’m not confident if the improvement in image excellent more than the Vista񳃒 combo is due to the fact of the tuner or Win 7 but the distinction is incredibly noticeable. The only actual annoyance is it can take a while for channels to alter. This might be a Media Center DVR caching situation even though. All-in-all I’m extremely pleased with this tuner. I just wish it cost significantly less than 贄.

Using this with Windows 7 Ultimate Windows Media Center, recording Analog+digital (over cable) two at a time. Quite stable, in no way crashes, fantastic top quality recordings (depending on signal quality for analog, of course). Left the system alone for 1-two weeks at a time, as long as disk space remains it just continues to function. Using the included "WinTV 7" is not as stable as WMC. WinTV 7 has a bit far more flexibility in locating digital channels, but I've had problems with corrupted recordings and with WinTV 7 crashing. Even with WMC the files are not really excellent, according to some 3rd celebration video software program I use, but I've always been able to use Windows 7's "convert to dvr-ms" selection which addresses the troubles I've observed. The most considerable issue I've had is that to record S-Video I need to use WinTV 7 (using WMC for S-Video is achievable but painful), which occasionally final results in corrupted recordings. Seriously annoying. This is the most reliable (with WMC, not WinTV 7) Tv tuner I've got. I've applied other vendor's cards, with problems. The 2250 allows me to record two programs simultaneously, which I locate incredibly helpful. I have a 1650 working with just about identical computer software in one more system, and WinTV 7 is steady with the 1650 (recording S-Video supply operates fine, for instance). It could be a nearby driver issue, which is why I gave 4 stars instead of three. For me, this is an almost ideal option.

I added this card to my Windows 7 ultimate desktop so that I could watch Television while I was working. The dual tuner card comes in handy; now I can record some shows for my little ones and let them playback on their personal computer. I'll will need much more challenging drive space in the future, but that's not a solution issue. none

Took me much less than 30 minutes to get this up and operating with Win 7. I'm making use of the cable straight from the wall and I'm getting over 80 channels--even with lousy Comcast cable. I ordered the OEM version and it appears like it came with anything (including WinTV CD though I don't require it...) except the remote manage. The picture good quality in HD is amazing. I don't realize why some individuals have difficulty with this card... Very straightforward to install if you have SOME computing know-how. If you take your Computer to Very best Acquire you in all probability don't need to be installing this card your self. As far as I can inform this card performs as advertised. Win 7 didn't detect till I manually installed the drivers--no biggie. Have to manually recognize and label the acceptable channels but I don't blame this on the card. Very satisfied with this card. Haven't attempted to record or play FM music however. Will post yet another update soon after I attempt some tweaks. I'm wondering if I'll get far more channels if I run a coax from my cable box RF out to the card...

Fantastic video when i lastly got it going. excellent tech assistance aid...a lot more or significantly less mentioned i necessary to get the cd after attempting for days to install Wintv software program i discovered it didn't come with it. You would assume for 贄+ they would contain the computer software. Guess that is a very good way to make additional cash. The cd with Wintv is one more ű.95 plus shipping. You can download the newest wintv but it won't set up unless you have the appropriate cd if it says your buying the media center kit then you have to get the disk if you want to run wintv software program

I have it installed in a Vista Property Premium with Pentium Dual Core. It has been quite reputable and stable using Vista Windows Media Center. When it is recording two analog cable channels at the very same time there is no slowdown to the CPU, only ten-15% CPU utilization. The video is fairly clear.I installed WinTV7 not too long ago and I can get Clear-QAM flawlessly. It took a couple of minutes to decipher some of the channel names, but I was watching and recording HDTV from the cable feed in 30 minutes. The scheduler constructed into WinTV7 works fine and integrates with TitanTV.com pretty effectively, although I am nonetheless trying to figure out HDTV mapping on TitanTV. I've spent more than a hundred hours trying to get Clear-QAM to operate in Vista MCE with no luck. I've attempted dozens of distinct drivers and beta plugins with no joy. Hauppauge under no circumstances officially supported this, so no failure on their part.On two or 3 occasions Vista MCE only saw a single tuner, but rebooting Windows resolved situation. I am going to buy a new Pc with Windows 7 and attempt this card in that. Assuming that works as advertised, I'll possibly acquire a second 2250 card from Hauppauge.

Worked for eight weeks After 8 weeks plus eight more weeks for two RMA from Hauppauge you can no longer return/replace it from Newegg then Hauppauge stated “I can not problem refunds on units not bought directly from us at this point the only issue I can present is to problem another rma”. Every return I’ve provided details about the 2 channels that no longer working and this time they mentioned “and personally test the board for these physical channels”. Why didn’t they do that the initially time? Or the second time? What’s the point of delivering particulars if they are not going to use it? Only when I asked for my funds back do they take an interest in the situation. Not great customer partnership actions. Tv tuners look to be hit or miss. I bought ASUS My Cinema-PHC3-one hundred early in 2009 to see how properly more than the air HD worked with Vista. ASUS worked wonderful but Vista did not. With Win 7 I wanted a dual for the 25+ channels in my location. If going by reviews the Hauppauge must be significantly far better than ASUS but what’s working for me is ASUS. Final thought is knowing what the digital channel numbers are in your region to get the correct antenna. A single web-site I like is rabbitears.info. Most HDTV antennas choose up only UHF stations (channels 14-69) considering that that’s exactly where 91% of HDTV lives now. But in my area CBS is nonetheless on a VHF channel therefore had to get a VHF/UHF antenna.

Function Rich! The manual (if you can get in touch with it that) which is just a speedy set up guide pamphlet indicates that the CD incorporates WinTV v7 but it does not. Window Media Center does not take complete advantage of this cards ability and I wanted to use the WinTV to see all the functions but you have to spend an added บ for that so that charges an egg. Upon researching I ran across SageTV but it as well will expense to access the full functionality of this card. Too terrible Hauppauge was as well cheap to consist of the software with the device.

Worked in Mythbuntu 10.04 possessing only to add the firmware - only ATSC for now, but that's all I receive anyways. Significantly far more expensive than the AverMedia, but I expected Myth support. Have not tested any functions other than dual ATSC tuners - and it has numerous. Also good that the second bracket is optional, as I don't will need it and don't have the space on my HTPC.

The image quality on this card is FAR superior to my old one. (I believed my cable signal was garbage). Turns out my old card was the difficulty. Worked appropriately the first time with Vista Media Center x64. Incredibly stable. Quite Delighted!! Seriously I can only believe of a single, it won't tune in the free HD stations that Comcast pipes in, but I think I knew that currently. Came with the low profile bracket. Didn't use it but it's there in case I want to. Hauppauge is good about drivers as well, I downloaded the newest drivers from the net website alternatively of working with the disk. I propose everybody do the similar!!!

I've utilised this with XP and BeyondTV, and it performs wonderful. I also have Vista and Win7, but I choose the quality and possibilities of BeyondTV with the 2250. None that I can consider of. It functions best with a dual CPU that runs greater than 3.two Ghz.I luv BeyondTV--it shrinks digital channels using Divx HD completely.Whilst playing back my BeyondTV is best by means of my computer system's HDMI output, I also use Seagate's FreeAgent Theater+ HD which operates wonderful.

Lots of inputs, dual tuner, and so on.Was able to get ClearQAM channels. -Isn't exactly plug-n-play. You have to do some tweaking to get it functioning right sometimes.- Tough to get it working in MCE. ("IR Hardware Not Detected!")- Does not come with WinTV software program! Warning!: Not utilised for console gaming! There is a delay from the source to the tuner, generating it not possible to play games with this tuner card.I purchased this card pondering it would perform with console gaming. I was incorrect. Hauppauge did release new WinTV software (v7 1.three) that allows "Game Mode" which removes the delay, but it doesn't operate with this card. I went with the 1600 alternatively, which does support Game Mode, and haven't looked back given that.

Fantastic HD capture - captures closed captioning This is an archaic device. I have attempted to operate it on a Foxconn I-7 motherboard operating Vista Ultimate x64. Hauppauge not only had no notion - but adamantly insisted the the error had to be with the mobo. So I installed it on an Intel 975Xb motherboard running Vista Ultimate x32. That worked - it was more than a bit demanding in set up and installation. Nothing beyond a retired 15+ years date processing manager even though.I decided that I wanted to enhance the program functionality so I replaced the 975 board with an Intel DH55HC - I5-61 combo. Also installed Windows 7 Pro x64. The alleged Hauppauge driver installation appeared to go appropriately.I can not 'see' the board with Media Center, Beyond Tv 4.9, or Look MA WinTv 7 which is Hauppauge's quite personal tuner application. They all insist that there is no tuner there! Meanwhile Device Manager does not know it is there either. That is puzzling, simply because prior to the driver installation DM reported that the mulitmedia device necessary drivers. If you are planning to run this device on an XP 32 bit technique, I suspect it will operate. I know that it worked on a Vista x32 program - on an older motherboard.I do not consider that Hauppauge has crawled into the next generation of hardware or application. My knowledge is that it will NOT perform on a 64 bit program - either Vista or Windows 7. I am forced to make this conclusion since Hauppauge has been silent when technical assistance is requested. Right now I called technical assistance - and right after 15 minutes+ on hold Hauppauge hung up on me.In summary - this is not a make I would advise donating to a garage sale. I certainly urge you to locate one more hole in the ground in which to pour your tough earned dollar.

Runs great in my Windows Media Center rig. Picks up all the QCAM and analog channels in my area off of a single coax connection. My only dilemma so far was figuring out how to get my WMC machine to sleep effectively. Now that that's figured out, no a lot more Dish No cons. It was straightforward to set up. WMC picked it up quickly. Get the version with the remote, even though. I ended up obtaining to obtain one particular separately mainly because WMC will not choose up the tuner with no a remote installed. It would have been cheaper and cleaner to go with the stepped up package.

Has been recording reliably on Windows 7 Media Center through digital cable (QAM). The integrated software program is booh, but Vista Television Pack 2008 and Windows 7's Windows Media Center help QAM so no will need to use Hauppauge's WinTV.. I got this in December 2008. Updating my previous overview in which I gave this 4 eggs alternatively of five for the not so good bundled software program. Now that we have the choice not to use Win Tv for each ATSC and QAM, this product has develop into far more usable. If you still run XP or nonTV pack Vista, you are stuck with WinTV or other not so excellent free of charge softwares if you don't wanna pay. Or have to spend for excellent softwares like Beyond Television.

Supports all major broadcast formats -- NTSC, ATSC and ClearQAM. ClearQAM is what you require if you want to receive the unencrypted digital channels from your cable provider. ATSC is what you require for Over-the-Air digital. Was detected and configured without much user input with Window 7 MediaCenter.Didn't evaluate it to something, but the tuning good quality seems fantastic for both NTSC and ClearQAM. Haven't tried with an antenna. None so far.

- Works with Windows 7 64bit- Performs with Windows Media Center- Performs with a set prime cable box- I acquire all the channels I'm supposed to, like HBO, Showtime etc. I wanted a card that could acquire an NTSC signal with the products talked about above, and this card delivers. - I tried installing WinTV 7 which I downloaded from the web site. For the duration of installation it kept asking me to insert the CD that came with my card; I did so and it would not recognize it even though I had just installed other programs and drivers from the disc... so I'm nevertheless without having WinTV 7, but I just wanted to see what it was like I Media Center.- The additional AV board seems a tiny loose or versatile when installing cables into it. It wasn't a problem, but a bit nerve wracking. Feel like I must knock an egg for it not recognizing my CD to set up WinTV 7, but as I stated I just wanted to see what it was like.

Performs excellent. Effortless set up in Win7. Plugged it in, installed the drivers, plugged the coax from my wall into it, and Media Center saw it. Greasy smooth 1080p playback on my 42-inch LCD HDTV, making use of a built-in GeForce 8200 with HDMI output and a inexpensive HDMI cable from a regional discount personal computer retailer. No audible defects in the sound, either. Clear QAM plugin for Vista MCE doesn't appear to see all my Clear QAM stations, and there is no way to manually add them. This may just be my cable signal, however, as they aren't automatically detected in 7MC either. At least I can manually add them there, although. Haven't tested it below Linux. I purchased this to replace the SiliconDust HDHomeRun I had, which had a glitch on the audio and video of all recorded Tv shows ever couple of minutes, virtually like it was skipping. So far, the HVR 2250 has done this once over about four-five hours of recording.Haven't tested the FM playback, as I don't have a FM antenna however.

Features Watch and record two TV programs at the same time: two analog cable TV channels, two digital TV channels or one analog cable and one clear QAM digital cable TV channel.

When recording analog cable TV, the dual built in hardware MPEG-2 encoders let your PC run at full speed.

Watch and record 'clear QAM' digital TV. Clear QAM digital TV channels are TV channels which are broadcast "in the clear" on your cable TV network.

Now supports Windows 7!

Single slot PCI Express (PCIe) X1 board, half height

Built-in antenna splitter allows you to make one connection to an ATSC antenna but watch and record up to 2 channels.

Supports Dolby Digital AC3 audio.

Composite/S-Video and audio inputs, for cable or satellite set top boxes or VCRs.

Technically speaking:
- WinTV-HVR-2250 is a PCI Express X1 board based on the NXP 7164 bus interface chip. The WinTV-HVR-2250 contains two tuners with a built-in TV splitter. There is one cable TV or TV antenna connector which is split, providing a video source for both tuners. For ATSC and QAM digital TV, all 18 ATSC formats including 1080i can be watched or recorded to disk as a MPEG-2 Program Stream. The NXP 7164 contains two highly integrated MPEG-1/2 hardware encoders for recording analog cable TV to disk. The playback of the recorded ATSC and QAM digital TV and MPEG-2 encoded analog programs are done through a software MPEG-2 player.
- WinTV-HVR-2250 now supports an on-board IR receiver and blaster, which can control up to two external set top boxes. With the on-board remote receiver/blaster, you no longer need the external "beanbag" remote receiver. The on-board receiver also has a "learn" mode, so you can use almost any external set top box. (The IR receiver/blaster is not included)
