Comment:
I upgraded from an eVGA 780i motherboard and this motherboard is much more fun to work with. I installed 6GB of Corsair XMS3 Dominator-GT DDR3-2000 and the RAMs were detected and ready to go. I'll get another 6GB when NCIX gets more in stock.Currently my i7 950 is at 3.8GHZ on stock BIOS voltages, except for the RAM which needed the required 1.65V. The BIOS is easy to navigate and wasn't difficult for a noobie overclocker like myself to achieve 3.8GHZ. There's also lots of useful resources and people at the eVGA forums so head if you're new to i7.Overall in my opinion it's a great looking color scheme on the board. Definitely a must for gamers looking for bragging rights. And of course it performs very well.

Using this with two GTX 520 Hydro Copper 2s, gotta say, best rig I've built thus far. I use this to game and it hasnt let me down yet and shows no signs of doing so. If you are a moderate - hardcore gamer or overclocker this is the mobo for you if not you should go with something cheaper.

Cons: No e-SATA support whatsoever! Would need an add-on card. Disappointing, as every USB 3.0 board/card I've tested so far (and on par with online reviews), caps out at a measly 180MB/s, where as e-SATA does 250MB/s (actual REAL data transfer speeds). I expect this board to be no different as it using the same standards, but in the event it does perform differently I'll update  the review. Don't like how even with BIOS 77 you have to hit ESC to skip the memory test - there is no setting the in the BIOS to do a fast mem test as we are used to...suspect will be update d.

Pros: Xeon Westmere support! FINALLY, a single board I can test ALL my chips on! (THIS is why EVGA was stubbornly refusing to code it into the Classified 760...a real 'piss-off' to a lot of enthusiasts who are forced to upgrade). Also, the Northbridge cooler has extra passive cooling on the bottom, plus a tiny added fan blowing through it. As I run in a North/South push-pull config with my cpu fans, and because I don't like the added noise, I disconnected it. The extra passive plate on the bottom is nice though. Also, my initial impressions are that the Southbridge runs noticably cooler than the 760 did. Tons of USB ports which it really nice.
Comment:
Ownership of 1 year chosen as board is essentially the same as the Classified 3 with updated USB3.0 & SATA 3.0 specs. This review was modfied by poster r 11-01-10 11:55 PM This review was modfied by poster @ 11-01-10 11:24 PM
