This is a great device to have but I wish it came with the power adapter for the IDE harddrive. The plastic case is a little weak but I got it working after making a power adapter.

I think it's a OK product SATA doesn't seem to work for me and it is not very sturdy seems it can break easy, But works great with IDE HDD's an the Transfer rate isn't to bad either, I would recommended this product to IDE users.

It's a great tool but my PowerBook G4 running Leopard didn't recognize the 2.5 HD. The adapter doesn't provide power to the HD directly and I had to get an adapter from 3.5 to 2.5 with external power to make it work. Other than that I like it. It is small enough to carry in my backpack and very useful.

It easy to use. Enabled me to connect an old Hard drive to my new PC and transfer the pernonal data to the new PC efficiently. It also enabled me to test my new DVD burner prior to internal instalation.

got it working but you have to mess with it a bit. have to hook it up and let it install and un hook it and then it had to install again for the hard drive. but I was able to use it. the biggest con is that the power adapter fits extreamely tight and if it weren't a 10 GB drive I wouldn't have dared to force it. Felt like it was going to break the drive, but after hooking it up and unhooking it several times it got a little easier. Its design need work.

I have 3 of these and they are Fantastic. Guy below must have a bad hard drive or he didn't read instructions on how to use it. If you don't know how to use something don't give it a bad review. period. Im gonna buy 2 more for my work place.

I purchased one because my old hard drive wouldn't work easily with my new 64 bit OS. I plugged it in, and connected id to the USB port and, voila!, I had an external drive, with access to all my old data. I'd buy it agan.

This is a nice little adaptor for transferring data from computer HD to another HD not encoosed if it is SATA, however if it is IDE you must have an external power source.

Was glad to see this adapter at Tigerdirect. I was ready for one, since putting ide drives in a cage is too slow working for clients' pc's. The adapter after one month has been fine for 2.5 and 3.5 inch ide drives. Have not tried it on sata; use a dock for those. Follow the sequence in the instructions for setting up the adapter.

The product looked good as there were less cables to mess with when connecting to multiple SATA drives but it would not power the drive. It may have ruined the drive which was a brand new WD 500GB. Worked OK with IDE drives. Tiger Direct promptly replaced with no problem. I now am using the Ultra 2.0 USB that was the same price.

Our hard drive crashed and would not boot up at all. Most frustrating loss was our music collection of over 5000 songs loaded from CD because some music libraries can only be transferred from computer to unit and not unit to computer. Not only did I save our music, but everything else transferred easily and fairly quickly. Definitely a product worth having around!

The second hdd has fried today using this item. It has worked and i know how to hook it up, but it has burnt up the second hard drive pcb now and this comes right after the 30 day return policy expired. Please try another product first if you value your info on the drive.

I found this device to be very good at doing what it's supposed to do. I have have no problems with it so far now that I have been using it. But I would recommend this device for anyone who does pc repair as a hobby or for a living as well. Robert Gachaman.com

So far I have only used it with 3.5 inch drives but it works great. It was exactly what I was looking for as it avoids having to load each drive into some kind of external drive enclosure and should work with multiple typed of drives.

After briefly glancing at the setup instructions (which are almost non-existent they're so short), I hooked it up and nothing. Read the other reviews , and found that if I actually set up the adapter IN THE PROPER ORDER like another reviewer noted, it was a snap. Works like a charm now. Build quality is questionable...feels flimsy and weak, and it seems like the panels are barely attached, but assuming it doesn't fall apart on me down the road I'm happy.

Buckled a few times at first but apparently after burn-in it came together. Now it performs as expected.

It took so much force to connect the power cord to my 3.5 hard disk I was afraid I would break something. When the disk finally powers up, my computer recognizes that something has been connected, but the disk is not available for reading or writing. The so-called user's guide is a half sheet of paper with bare-bones connection instructions. Now it takes one fourth of the purchase price to return someone else's mistake?

I don't claim to be an expert on this gadget. Here are some of my observations on this particular product. This product is easy to use. There is no need to remove screws, bolts, or cases to open. You simply plug in your new or existing hard drive and let the gadget work. My computers operating system is Windows XP, so I didn't have to install any drivers for this product. It's a plus not to look for another driver. I used this product to retrieve old data. I had to copy everything from a smaller sized (60G gig) disk drive to a newer larger capacity (120 gig) HD. The product worked. I tried to copy some data from a smaller (30 gig HD) but wasn't successful. Over all, this product is a plus to have.

Backups and Virus Scans have been flawless - I recommend this gem to everyone. I have seen reviews (not just here) where people have had trouble, but if you follow directions *** IN ORDER *** you should be fine.

This product was a life saver! I recently upgraded my computer due to a motherboard failure and built a complete custom system. The only issue was that I changed from IDE to SATA hard drives and now had no way to read my old HDDs. This product was simple, fast to install, and did the job! I strongly reccomend it to anyone looking to load an old drive or add extra storage.

Over the years, I have upgraded many drives and forgot what was on the ones I removed. They were laying around the office and I was afraid to toss them and did not want to buy enclosures for each. This product allowed me to review the contents of 10 drives, verify which were still functional, and what data I needed off of them. It may be a one time purchase, but was worth every penney as I found some very important data that I thought I had lost.
