Plays a HUGE variety of audio formats - including FLAC. Designed well and easy to use, have not run into any problems with use yet. 8GB of space for $56 is good for me any day. Overall this runs circles around main stream brands such as iPod in the area of price for what you get.

For an ultra compact player with easy to control user interface which play many medias, especially the no loss FLAC audio, this is no doubt the best wearable player at this price range. I have SAMSUNG, SONY and PHILIP equivalent, they are inferior to this L-Player. Only one minor feature it does not have is random song playing. For its price, it's excellent.

This product so far is pretty nice, clear audio, compact size, durable (I dropped it on concrete), large capacity, lotz of music formats. Be warned, the supported format is very very picky, it needs mpeg4 sp or wmv9 sp, which means almost no converter on the market will work. Which leads to the only con... Putting video on it was a nightmare. Took 3 nights to figure it out. Would only encode 3 minutes max of my avi's. Problem was completely solved by using o jo soft tvc with there specific down-loadable patch for the lplayer from there web site. Once converted, bring file into plus3 and just transfer rite into the Lplayer. I wanted to post that because no-body has any useful info on how to do this and succeed. I am running W7 ult 64 bit but had the same problem on my old XP machine so this is for everybody. Hope someone finds this useful. Sorry, couldn't find any free converters that did it.

Very good that it plays FLAC and OGG audio which sounds Much better than MP3. The included video SW converts DVD video with ease. Battery life is good with respect to its small size. Carry a small USB emergency charger if you're on a long plane ride or something. Also a cheap USB car charger will work fine to charge the player on the road. It's been tough to figure out the play lists. I use windows explorer to transfer my audio files to the player. I think the Windows media player might be the better (only?) way to get play lists to the player. Download the latest I river plus3 SW to upgrade the firmware. This is not apparent in the manual.

I love my old iriver IFP-795, so when it was time for an upgrade, I stuck with iriver and bought the Lplayer... bad move. The critical flaw is EVERY SONG FADES IN. Turning the ''Fade In'' feature off just makes them fade in faster, but you still miss the first few notes or words of every song. I contacted iriver tech support and they confirmed this is the normal function of the player, and it's only a problem if you really want to hear the start of each song. So, do you? Other than that, the interface is unresponsive, taking a second or so after pressing a button before something happens. It also took some finagling to get the software to work with Windows 7. It can only be charged via USB connection with a computer that's turned on (not good for travelling). OVERALL a beautiful looking player that'a a P.I.T.A. to use and annoying to listen to. Is it worth buying at any price?

This is a great little mp3,video player. Works great once you figure out the software needed to format the videos. Took this baby on my last ski trip and watched movies every night, listened to tunes all day. Love the size and functionality. Great design.

This was a million times better than I expected. The screen is awesome, the resolution absolutely fantastic. However, the software is clunky. You miss out on alot of the features when you use WMP & the iriver plus doesnt seem to find the info for half my music catalog - so that takes, oh FOREVER to load up. Also, it doesnt just take any video format. So that requires downloading their movie converter (which doesnt work most of the time) or finding your own, even then you have to use thier converter to get down to the right size, most of the time. I'm really techy nerdy & I wanted to bash my head in a few times trying to get it to work. It VERY time consuming. With that said, once its loaded - it loaded. Was it worth it? Hell yes. At a fraction of the cost this baby rawks!

As a former iRiver Clix user moving onto this product really left me unhappy. The D clix button feature was far off par compared to the Clix itself (you'd think that the LPlayer was a predecessor to the clix!) The volume controls buttons and the D clix feature are semi responsive most of the time and require repeated clicking in order to make any selection. Also, the playlist interface could certainly be improved upon compared to the Clix, many song selection throughly annoying

My wife has wanted an MP3 player for a while but wanted something easy to use. This deal was so great I figured it was a good chance. I haven't quite made it easy for her to transfer files but she is happy with how easy it is to use it while playing. It is extremely small and could be easy to use. Might want to order 2 or 3.

I have used the iRiver lplayer about a week. It is really great, especially for the price. Being able to record from an FM frequency alone would make it worth the price. I dont record radio broadcasts but will be using it to record conventions that broadcast on FM frequencies. The audio is excellent. 8 gb of storage space should satisfy most people, although some units have 32gb or more. But then again you're not paying $300 either. Thinking of getting another one or two.

Great little player for the money, only con about the whole unit is the download process. It will take you a little while to figure it out. The unit automatically sync's the second it connects to the PC, and it may start to download stuff you don't want, if you use it Windows Media Player 11. But once you get the hang of it you will love it.

I got this because of the 8GB, the music and video functions, the sound quality and the price. The buttons do have a time delay which is kind of annoying and I still haven't figured out how to get the iRiver Plus 3 program to organize my music files in exactly the way I want. (I may be doing something wrong so am still trying to figure it out.) The battery life is not as long as I had hoped (maybe only 3-4 hours on audio). Haven't tried the video feature yet but if it works well, then I'll be quite satisfied with this product.

I'm not sure what nick's problem is below. He should have just RMA'd the things if they didn't work. My kids use them for their 1 hour bus ride every day. They love them. Can't beat the price for 8GB. Easy to load them from windows or linux, though the transfer is somewhat slow. My windows machine often complains that the files are incompatible with the device, though they mostly work just fine. The video conversion software produces a WMV which is upside-down and backwards. Mediacoder may work for you, but it is easiest with Any Video Converter. You need MPEG4, simple profile for this device, though I have converted stuff to a higher bit rate and the Iriver doesn't stutter.

Hi I bought two of them as gifts for my daughters. They both refused to use them. I reluctantly opened one instead of trying to return them. I installed the firmware, other programs and software on my xp machine. It does not recognize the device. After a number of attemps to update the firmware I still have problems to make my laptop recognize this device. I spent 8 hrs on this task. I tied to call technical support only to hear a recorded message which asks us to contact them by email or by leaving a message to them. That is the Tech support you get from this company.I am going to run my Honda Van over this useless junk. Surprisingly this one gets good reviews from so many users. Rule number 1 ; never buy any product where there is no live tech support. Any product that does not work within half an hour of opening is a piece of junk. Do yourself a favor by not buying this product and spread the word.

I bought this as a Christmas gift for my grandson, but I had to check it out before wrapping it up. I was very pleased with the rather unique, intuitive controls and the overall quality. The radio feature was outstanding, as well. I believe this will prove to be a good value for the price. My grandson already has 2 movies and untold numbers of songs on it. He's happy, I'm happy! If I wanted one for myself, this is the one I'd buy.

IRiver always beat other mfg for value for the money. Only issue is that accessories are not as available as for other mfg. But an 8G for $50 is not going to hurt as much when your kids lose it as an expensive MP3 player!

Bought as replacement for my girlfriend's iRiver Clix after she dropped it down the stairs. This was much less expensive. She is thrilled with the small size because it will fit inside the tiny pocket in her work-out gear, but this is just not the same as her beloved clix. The buttons are kind of flaky and sometimes there is a delayed reaction after presing a button. Overall, the sound quality is good and it's easy to build playlists and transfer music, text, and pictures from the familiar iPlus3 program.
