Cons: PCI bus speeds.Very bulky HSF.

Pros: A great card for video-out DVD playback, and general computer use. (I don't play games)Stable performance, and easy installation in Vista.
Comment:
Ok I bought this to go with my ECS mini-DTX board with PCI and PCI-e x1. The heatsink on this card is preventing installation due to the weird was the battery is mounted on the motherboard, and the motherboard's SATA connectors. That is my fault, I suppose; I now have it installed in an old deBranded HP, and the performance boost is mind blowing.Vista Business is running great on this 2Ghz Celery processor with 512Mb DDR400 RAM. Would definitely buy again, if I ended up with a board with PCI only.

Cons: best card for pci?

Pros: looks faster than my intergrated video
Comment:
Will this card work on an Acer m1640? It has intergrated video in the motherboard. will this interfere with the card? This review was modfied by poster t 10-25-08 08:36 AM This review was modfied by poster @ 10-25-08 08:39 AM

Cons: Thickness of card needs to be allowed for. No HDMI out. HDTV Out?

Pros: Excellent graphics for a PCI card. Software installed fine.
Comment:
If you just want very good graphics, this PCI card delivers the goods. I don't play games anymore, but user reviews on other sites say this chipset plays most recent high end games fine despite the fact it's on a PCI card. The display driver related software on the included CD installs fine. I haven't tried the other software yet.PowerColor makes dependable cards. I've had a Radeon 7000 AGP card of theirs for many years and have never had any problems with it.The heatsink on the card does not have, or require, a fan, but the thickness of the card, where the heatsink is, is the maximum allowed. If you have a card in a slot right next to the heatsink side, you can still use that other card, but you will probably need to insert something non-conductive in between, such as thin cardboard, and fasten it so it can't move, otherwise the bare aluminum heatsink can short connections on the back of the other card.If you want a HDTV output connection, to 3 female RCA jacks, this card is supposed to have the capability. If you want a HDMI output connection, to a HDMI slot port, this card doesn't have the capability. The only adapter that comes with the card is a 7 pin DIN (male) to composite video (RCA female) wiring adapter. It does NOT come with a DVI (male) to SVGA (female) monitor port adapter. There is a detailed manual on the CD, but it is a generic ATI made one for all of 2400 series adapters, not one for this card specifically. The printed "manual" is merely a twice folded sheet of quick install instructions, in 16 languages. The TV out port on this card is a 7 pin DIN jack commonly seen on graphics cards, a.k.a. a SVideo port, but SVideo needs only 4 pins. The specs on the PowerColor web site for this model say:"HDTV Output YES"As in, to connect to 3 female RCA jacks for HDTV component video.PowerColor does not list the wiring adapter for that on their site. The ATI part of the AMD site lists it: http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=2550138 "TV Output YES"The 7 "pin" DIN port - looks to be compatible with a standard 4 pin SVideo plug. "Dual-link DVI Output YES"Huh?"HDMI Support NO" As in, by means of a DVI port (male) to a HDMI port (slot, female) adapter. That adapter can be used with the PCI-E versions of the PowerColor 2400 cards, but not this one.(PowerColor does not list that adapter on their site. The ATI part of the AMD site lists it: http://shop.ati.com/product.asp?sku=3526142 )"HDCP Support NO"The rating I'm giving is for the graphics and the overall quality of the card only - the other stuff is of no real concern to me.T&W This review was modfied by poster d 10-07-08 04:34 PM This review was modfied by poster k 10-07-08 04:45 PM This review was modfied by poster o 10-07-08 04:06 PM This review was modfied by poster @ 10-08-08 12:57 PM
