Ive purchased this item almost a month ago with 4 1.5TB Seagate HDD, and i still havent been able 2 get it working right. Ive try several way 2 get it working but no luck. It keeps saying that theres en error on 2 of my HDD and that i need 2 replace them. Ive checked each HDD individually 2 c if any of them might be faulty from factory but they all checked hundred percent. I tried all the types of raid and Ive formatted each HDD several times and it gives the same results in the end. So stay away from this product its NOT WORTH UR TIME OR MONEY BY ANY MEANS.

I recently purchased this unit It seemed like a great deal, it has a wide array of RAID set-ups available, and looked like a bargain. When the unit got here, the box did not want to recognize all of the drives in the array. I called GMG for support and got no answers. The problem seemed to resolve itself, except a week later the unit indicated that a drive was failing. The short version of the story is that it was the unit misreporting the drive failures. The box would not rebuild the array when a drive was replaced, and then reported another drive failing. I tried calling GMG for support, no one ever answered the phone. I e-mailed, never got a response. It took me a week to get ahold of someone. He told me they would have an engineer call me back the next day. That never happened. Now I am having to exchange the unit and rebuild my array. Be wary of this unit. Stay Away.

The GMG 4500MGB is just what I was looking for. Screaming fast FW800, 4 hardware RAID modes, solid aluminum construction, and a large and very quiet fan. WIth room for 4 drives, this external drive is a great product at a great price. Load it up with four 1 TB SATA drives, and let it do the work rather than you're computer's processor.
