I bought a few of these products and have now come to the conclusion these are no where ready for market. I've spent hours with their tech support trying to get one unit going and this was their last bit of correspondence to me....it also didn't work so I have yet another dead weight gathering dust. Don't buy this thing.

I have been an ncomputing user since they first came out. I have 3 desk in my home office. I can use the main computer and my employees can sign in and use the same desktop I am, you can not use anything the exact time, like email. But on word you can open a read only copy. If you can't afford the server for 3, this is the best option. Everyone works independent. The only problem is NComputing does not stay up to date with the computer downloads and often they send patches or let you know not to download an update. They were built for XP and run great on XP, but vista and 7 a few issues but they can be worked around.I would recommend to any small office.

I've tried three of NComputing's models so far. I own 6 L130 models. They work as advertised and I am pleased with them. The video has a slight lag, but nothing that concerns my needs.

Member Richard used his entire post to slam member Manny110 for complaining & not reviewing the product. Ironic... This is a great product that works fine. I just wish it worked on a Mac.

member manny110 seems to complain about things that are not relevant to the product described here. The product reviewed here is L130 Model 500-0061 and obviously this is not what you bought, since this product is current and supported. You bought some other product, at some other time, and you are using this venue just to vent off steam against the manufacturer. That's not a product review. The product came with a 1 yr warranty, so you were covered for 1 year. What kind of support could you need after 1 year? You should have learned how to use it by then!!! Many machines I use are no longer "supported", THAT HAS NOT STOPPED THEM FROM WORKING, and obviously has not turned them into paper weights. Three quarters of the stuff people use every day is no longer supported (free that is), from vacuum cleaners, to cordless phones -- and they don't turn into paper weights. You try to be 100% emphatic, 0% factual, which does not help anyone. You need to know your stuff to use this

I have about 75 of these installed at various customer's locations. Works VERY well. I have found the company is pretty good at supporting the product. I recently sent back an older model unit that was not working properly and they sent me an L130 to replace it. I have had only a few go bad which were handled fine. A few died within 30 days and Tiger shipped out new ones. The price is really nice now too. Great product!

I like this product, what I do not like is the compoany!!! I purchased several units from this company and all of the sudden they stop supporting the model that I purchased, wich leaves me with the only option of purchasing the newer model and using the older models for paper weights. I can only say that if you want to purchace alot of units from this company (ncomputing) then be prepaired to repurchase any up-graded units that they come out with, or else you will be left with alot of paper weights.

This produce works surprisingly well. It is essentially doing a VNC connection to the server. I had it working on both Windows and Linux. I plan to get a rack full of servers and have my entire development team in Costa Rica working directly off the L130. Plus they have no direct access to hard drives, CDRoms, USB ports, etc. which is great for security!

Product Features

NComputing L130 Computer Access Terminal
Like all NComputing access terminals, the new L230 and L130 dramatically cut computing costs by sharing the untapped power of standard PCs. Best of all, IT staff and end users do not need special training because our solutions are easy to manage, eco-friendly and compatible with standard PC applications. And like all of our L series, the L230 and L130 can use standard Ethernet infrastructure, so that your users can be located as far away from your shared PCs as you need them to be.

The new L230 and L130 bring enhanced graphics performance (with improved color depth and widescreen support) and a microphone port―all in a stylish new smaller chassis (just 1 inch tall and 4.5 inches square) that takes absolutely no desktop space at all when mounted to the back of a monitor. We even include the mounting bracket at no charge.

Of course, the L230 and L130 include VGA support (resolutions up to 1280x1024 or 1440x900 for widescreen), an Ethernet connection, PS/2 keyboard and mouse ports, audio output, and power cable connections. The L230 also has a USB port for flash memory devices and an audio input for microphones. The L130 does not have the USB port or microphone input and is recommended for the ultimate in economy and security.

Configuration
With the NComputing solution, each user has an individual workstation that consists of a standard monitor, keyboard, mouse and speakers (not included). However, instead of connecting directly to a PC, these peripherals connect to the L Series access terminal.

The very inexpensive and highly reliable L Series access terminal connects to our terminal services software on the host PC over standard Ethernet cables (plus routers, switches, etc.). Our terminal services software enables the host PC to create unique and simultaneous user sessions so that each user gets their own rich and robust PC experience. A PC that is running a desktop OS (such as Microsoft Windows XP®) can support up to ten users. Server operating systems (like Microsoft Windows 2003 Server® or Linux) support up to 30 simultaneous users.

Please note: this product does NOT support Windows Vista

L Series Benefits

  • Share one host PC with up to 30 users
  • Dramatically reduces acquisition & support costs
  • Easy to set up, maintain and secure
  • Connects to host PC via Ethernet
  • Supports Windows and Linux
  • Compact, reliable & energy-efficient (no moving parts)
  • Web-quality multimedia support

nComputing's optional NControl and NShield software add more centralized management capabilities―such as remote monitoring and host PC data backup.

By delivering all the key components of this multi-user computing system, NComputing uniquely delivers a high-performance solution at the lowest possible cost. NComputing breaks the affordability and complexity barrier that has limited computing from being deployed everywhere, to everyone.
