I can't cover half of the problems in 1000 chars: 1)No lock. If it's in your pocket, every bump will pause, stop, ffwd, rewnd. The screen will stay bright, overheating and killing thebattery in less than an hour. 2)Confusing navigation. X and menu perform the same function, but X stops your music. 3)After a pause, the device sleeps, but you can't resume where the music stopped unless you explicitly bookmarked it and navigate through all menus to that song again. 4)You cannot charge without their expensive cable, which will not charge the device when connected to some machines. 5)You have to double-touch on the screen to select menu items. 6)You have to pay extra for a web browser. 7)Low output vol: at max, my car has to be cranked 3x as high as it did with another player for the same volume. 8)Long data fields are truncated instead of scrolled. 9)Power setting changes require a REBOOT to take effect. 10)Manual has no search. 11)And more.

After an year this product is full of it. We check it out on reviews to see how it was like.It never kept an file on the network kept failing and the games didn't stay on it. If I had to do it over I'll never would have bought it. The hard drive is no good.Good Luck with it. Never again.

The archos is not made to be high speed pointless gaming device, the screen is of high quality, if it was a bit brighter that would have been nice, but the quality is unbeatable. The sound is good and the photo is amazing also, the internet works how its supposed to and you can watch youtube videos on it, just not in browser, overall great player and in the fields it was made for it beats ipod.

I have to say I was disappointed to see so many bad reviews of this player. I have had mine for over a year and I love it and have influenced a few others to get one and they have been ahppy too. I will give that you needed to know going in that it cost extra to unlock the features. I bought the $20 video licence and now the player will any video format from DVD DVIX WMP AVI MP3, everything but the Ipod formats. The screen resolution is unsurpassed and I can watch several movies in a row with no eye fatigue. The bulit in speaker is ajoke, ear buds are needed. I was looking at the ipod touch and chose this instead. It smokes the Touch in every area. I do not however use the Web browser or the DVR or the WiFi, i just wanted a media player. The battery only lasts 3 hours, but I bought an ac adapter on ebay for $6 and I just plug it in and keep on watching. Sorry to hear so many were unhappy.

at first ran fine, but within a month started getting errors playing mp3 saying they were corrupt. after a hard shut down would play the same mp3. then while recording TV the unit would over heat. then it started to not find the hard drive in it so i couldn't do anything with it. after a few days of not being used it worked again. with all the problems i contacted support. there was no support. they kept telling me they would send a replacement. i contacted them like 10 to 15 times well i finally declared it as a loss, a very expensive loss 300 dollars down the drain

It does it's job as far as moving videos on your player and playing it, but the catch is this player is restricted(features locked) Meaning in order for you to play ripped dvd(Xvid) and get 5.1 sound you have to purchase $20 plug-in. 2)To browse online you have to purchase opera browser plug-in for $30. 3)In order to play streaming video clips online you have to pay $20 video pod cast plug-in(note: utube will not play with any plug-in because it uses upgraded version of flash and archxx stopped updating their firmware back in 2008, so that means they do not support utube contents you're out of luck) 4. This is the most I'm upset about as they only give you USB charger where you have to plug it into your pc only With this much money they're charging extra you would think they would AT LEAST include charger that plugs into outlet NOTE) USB charger takes 8 hours to fully charge and only 3 hours video time, had to buy outlet charger for $25 extra

Full of great features and promises but very bad engineering. Orphan product. Manufacturer dropped this line of product a year ago leaving customer with unfinished buggy product and firmware. Battery won't last a year and is not user replaceable unless you're really tech. Many so called plug-in to purchase. The worst customer service ever seen on earth. Have the 80Gb model with DVR station to record-play TV and GPS car adapter. Total headache. Stay Away.

Don't buy any Archo's product! You will be sorry. Once you get the unit you will realize that to make it functional, you will have to buy widgets.(small programs) The web site is confusing & you pay for a Mpeg Widget & you receive something else. To record movies, you will have to buy a dock & special connectors for it to work. (another $200.00) After 2 months of investment in this unit, and still not working correctly, I gave up & gave it away to a friend and it still doesn't work for my friend. Save your money. Archo's isn't worth the headaches.

Pros: Good resolution, Touch screen is accurate even with out stylus, great button layout and button options. Easy to get wifi access (your router or security may be a different story) Lots of fun options such as background.
