Had it functioning as soon as I had the cables connected. Transferred video from on air broadcast(from Tv) and from VCR tape on the initial try. No software program to install. Video capture worked with each and every video computer software I tried. With the VCR tapes a good feature was unattended capture that turned off the ADVC and closed the file when the video ended even though the VCR tape kept operating. This unit just does what it must with out obtaining to spend more than a few minutes on setting it up. NONE! Newegg also came via again with no hassles on this and my other orders. Just study the endless problems with the other kinds of capture cards and you'll appreciate this unit even far more. Commit your time and efforts on the video editing and DVD creation, not just attempting to get the content material onto your computer. I wish all goods worked this very easily.

Good quality video recording from VHS to Pc A bit high-priced, there are other devices that have more capabilities such as record in HD for a equivalent value. I recorded 17 hours of video on with this. I had zero difficulties, simple installation. Didn't will need the power adapter b/c I was using a desktop.

It atually syncs audio and video correctly, unlike my previous PCI capture card The optional energy adapter I bought to use this with my laptop was overpriced (and the device itself is no bargain) Highly suggested for capturing analog Hi8 tapes to burn onto DVDs. It performs good. I can't speak for its other utilizes, on the other hand, as I haven't tried them (yet)

Functions with Vegas 7!!Captures at Complete 720 x 480 RES.(most of the other stuff I've attemptedgave me only half that and I had to up convert it all!! YUCK!!)Transportable and nicely produced.Audio sinc is just what I needed! Optional energy provide doesn't shipwith box. Appears a small more than priced, but I guess you get what you pay for, since it's the initiallyfactor that's worked! If you use Vegas for Video Editingand you will need to capture Analog Video and Audio this is what you will need, so cease wasting funds on other less expensive merchandise like I didand just break down and PONY UP!!

Performs great, good good quality, uncomplicated to use. Total nitpick, but wish they had inputs on the back so I could hide my cables. No challenges with this device. I've been employing this converter with Adobe Premier Components four. to convert my old VHS and LaserDisc libraries and it has worked flawlessly. They worked as soon as I plugged them in...no setup needed. I'm sure there are greater units out there for enough dollars, but this 1 is ideal for what I'm carrying out and is working good.

Simple to set up and use. Powered by Firewire. A/V synch lock feature is worth the price tag. Spotty manual, the integrated firewire cable is incredibly short. I purchased this specifically for the audio/video synch locking function, which operates as advertised. Captures have been uncomplicated, no fuss affairs with flawless final results. Definitely on my encouraged hardware list.

- plug it in and it functions - Documentation is a tiny bit lacking. Not operatational documentaion. But, for instance that lights toggle between analog and digital when I quit captureing. A good primer on what's going on would be good. Maybe I'm thick and just don't understand. Simplicity is the finest design and style. It has really few settings. Most in the form of dip switches. Once set they in no way need to be changed. I just plug in the box and capture. I like that there is no additional software needed.

Higher Good quality, Stable, trusted unit. Produces good high quality video signal. Costly - but you get what you spend for. I have had this device for more than a year and I have in no way had the slightest difficulty with it. I have tried some of the cheaper video capture devices (that I regretted) just before I bought this one. If you use the firewire connection, you don't have to use a separate power supply.

A friend lent me a single of these and I liked it so I purchased a single for myself. Does a excellent job of capturing video from my camcorders, VHS players or laser player. Operates wonderful with my Pinnacle, ULead, and Premiere capture application. Dubs with no video/audio synch issues. I don't consider I could do devoid of one particular. AC adapter is optional/ further. Unit is powered by 1394 Firewire 6-Pin when plugged into a Computer but if you want to use it among, say, a VHS deck and a standalone recorder (to stabilize the video) you need to have the energy adapter, and Newegg doesn't supply it! I had to go to an additional vendor to get 1 and they're not affordable (about โ with S/H)

Comments: Outstanding item I utilised to have the older ADVC-one hundred it broke due to a static shock on my component(long story) so I ordered this as a replacement its good for capturing any analog supply it does have a Digital pass thru for DV camcorders. I have been converting video tapes to dvd for about two years now and this point is great there are no sync difficulties with it. Just plug it into your firewire port and you excellent to go. This new model uses the 6 pin Firewire port for power, this unit does have a seperate energy jack if you only have a four pin hook up but a energy provide is sold seperate. It will operate with a Audigy two soundcard if any person is curious.General superb solution

Does specifically what it is supposed to do: Capture solid video from numerous sources. I am capturing video from VHS and SVHS tapes, (soon to be capturing HI8), shot in the late 80's. Making use of a TBC player, I've had NONE of the jitter problems reported by other reviewers. Did not even read the manual 'till I was already sitting back capturing video into Premiere CS4.I ordered the box Thrus AM, and had it Friday AM! Newegg ROCKS! The manual is Extremely clear and concise and even comes with a trial version of Edius editing application. Be certain the capture device is the ONLY point connected to fire wire. Sorry if you are working with an external fire wire capture HD. Internal HD's are Low-cost! Get oneself a 2 TB and use your external fire wire drive for backup only.Video top quality is incredibly fantastic. Noticeable improvement more than the "dub to Mini DV and capture", making use of the Sony A to D converters in my video camera. Cable management is odd, with inputs on the back and output on the front...backwards in my opinion. A minor gripe. IF you are capturing old analog video, and are tired of the "dub to Mini DV tape, the capture via firewire into the personal computer" (Like I have been doing with my old trusty TRV 900), purchase this box. 1 much more thought: In Premiere, quickly as you open the Capture window, the Timecode Starts operating, regardless if you are capturing or not. Odd, but does not influence editing.

Wonderful solution. Easy to setup. Integrates seamlessly with my adobe application. Canopus is definatly leading notch. Especially this a single for the cost. None. Doesn't contain computer software.... that must be clear as any person getting this need to know that. But for the "rest" of you - no software program :P

The unit does exactly what it says it will do. Switches between digital and analog in between captures, not a major deal to hit the button and reset. My Computer did call for me to use the smaller connector on the Computer end of the firewire cable, four-pin, which signifies the unit need to be powered externally - had to obtain an external power supply (not integrated) - found the proper power provide at Radio Shack for a fraction of what Canopus wants for theirs, been working for months. Functions perfectly with Adobe Premiere Elements. Capture laptop or computer specs: Compaq laptop, model V2321US, capture DV to external USB 2. hard disk, definitely no troubles.

Ideal for household use. Bought this to convert about 20 years of family filmed VHS motion pictures to Digital format then to be edited to DVD format. Very simple installation and usage. I download analog VHS, convert to AVI format then edit and burn as DVD. The DVD image good quality is outstanding. Simply hooks up to my old sony and panasonic video cameras and my sony vcr. Wonderful product!! None I use Ulead Video studio 11 or windows film maker computer software for video capture. The Canopus performs fine with both.

You plug it in and it performs. And performs. And performs. It never crashes or provides you problems. The firewire you need to have to connect to the Pc supplies the unit energy, no will need for an AC adapter. It operates nicely with Sony Vegas Pro 8. A tiny high-priced compared to the inferior competition.

Short and Sweet- Great piece of hardware.I have converted over 20 old VHS tapes utilizing this Analog-to-Digital converter. I have but to be let down. At the moment, I'm operating Component In from the VCR by way of the device and out to 6-pin 1394 (Firewire) straight into my computer. I use Sony Vegas Pro 8 to capture and edit movies. The high quality is definitely superb. It truly improved the look of some old VHS tapes. No set up involved. Fully plug and play for me. You can't eat it. You will not be let down.

This device is exactly what I necessary to capture my old VHS tapes to 720x480 AVI, edit and filter with TMPGEnc 4. The audio/video sync is great; no signs of drift at all and no dropped frames that I can detect. Effortless to setup and use. I wish I had found this a few years ago rather of getting inferior USB items! The image does come out a bit dark consistanly. I use Nero 9 and Windows Film Maker to capture, and each present the similar level of quality. Filtering, color adjustments and compressing to MPEG with TMPGEnc makes issues shine in the end just before transferring to DVD. This is surely the very best customer based analog to digital converter I've ever employed. I'm incredibly pleased with this pruchase, and with Newegg for outstanding service as usual.

Straightforward and apparent design, powered off of 6-pin firewire port tends to make for 1 less (power) cable which is great. Using w/my Mac and iMovie under Mac OS X for pulling off video content from a VCR, it just functions The funny red, white, yellow composite video cable I have has a yellow cable head wider than the red & white. The recessed jacks on the canopus make it complicated to totally seat the yellow video cable as snugly as the two other people, but it appears to connect anyway.

Performs perfectly with Mac OS / iMovie. This has "hidden" features - google it - it will import "any" video... ;-) - Draws power from a 6-pin Firewire cable which is a benefit as far as I am concerned - you don't need to have an AC adapter - purchasing an internal Firewire card for your desktop Pc would be cheaper than the optional AC adapter...For these people reporting import complications - make sure nothing at all else is making use of your Firewire bus whilst you are importing - particularly, you seriously don't want to import over Firewire and save to a Firewire tough drive at the very same time, do you?!?!? none for me.
