I have had this keyboard for almost 3 years now, I use it on average 6-8 hours a day since owning it. Still works perfectly. Letters still show up almost 100%, except for WASD which are fading a bit. This keyboard seems like it will last forever!

Cons: Cost??? Meh not really

Pros: Durable, Ergonomic (Surprisingly), did I say durable?
Comment:
I've had this baby for a few years now, and I can tell you this definitively, it is built like a tank. There is barely any flex at all, and the keys are barely worn even after HEAVY daily use. The only keys which have the letters worn off are the WASD, and control/shift keys, even then I'd say its still 50% after 3 years. The ergonomics of the keyboard are surprising considering how simple it is. Its flat, but it works. Extremely comfortable. I wouldn't hesitate to buy this again after it dies out on me (which probably won't be for another 3 years).Seriously, buy this thing. Steelseries doesn't get enough credit for what they produce.

Comment:
Been using this keyboard for two years now and it has kept up its excellent performance. The keyboard is definitely more sensitive than standard keyboards, but isn't overally sensitive like its red-switch brother. The keyboard is not a LED light show like many of its competitors and comes with an excellent hand rest (removable) that really makes a difference after long periods of usage. This keyboard is excellent for hardcore gamers as it replaced the left window key with a Function button that allows you to adjust music settings on the fly. (The right windows button is still there)Although the keyboard has a smaller than average backspace key, it has no key-input limits which make a big difference in many games such was World of Warcraft which require you to input many key sequences. The keyboard is also excellent for programming as it is very easy on the fingers. The keys have a buttery feel and is able to keep up with fast typers (previously had issues with logictech keyboards unable to keep up around 70 WPM).One of the best keyboards out there (for a cheaper version, try the Steelseries Keyboard 6v2, it has the same features with a bigger backspace but no handrest addon)

Pros: Build quality, feeling of the keys, springy, Complete NKRover, Wrist rest

This is one of the best keyboards that I have ever encountered. I have used cherry mx blue (Coolermaster quickfire rapid), and cherry mx brown (really old keyboard that I found in my lab) so far. I didn't really like how keys were really easily pressed for blue switches, and brown switches had sandy feeling ( i dunno how to describe  it :(). Obviously this is personal preference, but if you like the feeling of keys bouncing back when it is pressed... mx black is the way to go. I also love the wrist rest in this thing. It is pretty awesome!

Cons: -USB 1.1 hub-Not great for typing

Pros: -Sturdy and heavy-Comfortable wrist-rest -Mic and headphone jacks-USB hub-No unnecessary features
Comment:
The keyboard is very good for the people who don't want unnecessary features like backlights and macros on their keyboard but still want a mechanical keyboard. Seen many keyboards ruined because of the glossy finish that is just a fingerprint magnet, but this one is matte black. Would have preferred a USB 2.0 slot instead of a 1.1 hub and also a full size backspace. The indicator lights are not as bright as everyone says.

Cons: -Not that great of a keyboard for typing, takes too much force to press down on each key (but may still be preferable to many sloppy rubber dome keyboards out there)-The 3 lock indicators are too bright, this was fixed in the 6GV2-Wrist rest takes up too much desk space-The audio and headphone jacks are low quality just like in every other keyboard-Hub is USB 1.1 only-Had to return the first one because a few keys were defective, could be just a one-off lemon

Pros: -Excellent keyboard for games, especially FPS where minute movement are important-Standard fare of N-key-rollover over PS2, and 6 key-rollover in USB... just like any most other Cherry MX keyboard by Costar-Minimalistic, clean, no annoying "gamer" look to the board with a billion LEDs, no unnecessary color schemes-Heavy, built like a tank-Comes with a wrist rest-Built in USB hub is nice
Comment:
The 7G should not be bought if you are expecting it to be a board for daily use. I'd much prefer Cherry MX switches in blue, brown, and especially red for a better "overall" keyboard. The black Cherry MX switches in the 7G might be better for gamers but they are terrible for typing because of the amount of force you have to put onto each key... it's hard to just simply glide your fingers over the black switches. For the money, I think the Roswill red Cherry MX keyboard would be a better buy as it is a dream to type on. Red switches are also linear like what's in the 7G, but are much lighter to activate. They'd do just as good as a job for gamers as black switches. Too bad that NCIX doesn't stock any Roswill products.

Pros: Springy keys,Sounds great when typing,Long cable,Solid keyboard construction,Great wristrest,Two USB ports on the keyboard
Comment:
I'm not impressed with this keyboard even considering the sale price. The thing that's taken the most adjusting are the slight differences in keyboard layout. I've found that I used the left windows key almost constantly, and after two months I still haven't adjusted to not having one. When I bought this keyboard I hoped I could remap the Steelseries key to act as a Windows key, but Windows doesn't even see the Steelseries key press. The smaller backspace key is another issue, although not nearly as annoying as pressing the traditionally oversized Enter key when I mean to press the backslash key. I haven't used the 'media keys'. The nice thing about these keys is they sound great when I'm typing rapidly.I have a tendency to type lightly, and with the spring strength of these keys I end up with missed keystrokes or repeatsssss that have taken me a while to get used to. The wrist-rest that comes with this keyboard is great. It supports my hands comfortably, and it's easy to remove or set in place. The white paint used to mark the keys is very porous, and although I keep my hands clean the letters have discoloured significantly, especially the WADS and arrow keys. I haven't had much success cleaning the letters.I have this keyboard connected through a KVM using USB, the keyboard works fine and the USB ports work well for a mouse. The USB on this keyboard seems to only be v1.1, so I wouldn't use it for a flash drive. I haven't used the audio ports, or connected this keyboard via PS2.

Cons: -Black cherry is tad more resistant than I expected.

Pros: -Mechanical Keyboard-NKRO-USB extras-Wrist rest thingy.
Comment:
As expected of a mechanical Keyboard. Works great, however, black cherry was more resistant then I had originally anticipated. My fingers got sore in the first day or 2 but afterwards, I mashed away like a normal keyboard. Great Build for only 90$+tax.

Cons: - Keyboard layout- LED indicator way too bright- Lack of macro keys contradicts the claim of being a "gaming keyboard"

Pros: - Black cherry keys make typing as enjoyable as it can ever be- High quality build- Wrist rest looks ugly but is extremely comfortable when typing- At $89.99 sale price it's a good deal
Comment:
Bought at $89.99, I can't complain too much since this seems to be the lowest price ever on NCIX. However I wouldn't pay the regular $124.39 for this keyboard. I think the Metadot Das Professional (PM direct canada or best direct) is a better deal.To be honest I'm not that happy about the keyboard layout. I don't mind the bigger enter key and the moved pipe key, but the smaller backspace really makes it awkward. It might be fine after when you are used to it, however if you have a different keyboard at work things might get a bit complicated. The indicators are unnecessarily bright. I can't see the logic behind this, just plain annoying and it really hurts your eyes. After all solid keyboard but I can't recommend it for more than $100. Pros: Outstanding build quality, good key feed back and excellent design;l the palm rest completement the keyboard very nicely.

Overall I'm happy with the purchase I made, the keyboard was worth the money I paid, even though the 2.0 USB wasn't there, the port worked fined with my XAI mouse. The 1/4" braided cable is outstanding compared to any keyboard on the market; for 127 dollars this keyboard out last any ****ing keyboard on the market.

I have been debating about getting a mechanical keyboard for three years or so, and this is what I finally decided on. Here are my day 1 thoughts:USB 1.1... Why!? Nothing else seems to be using this circuit. I might bypass it and solder a small USB 2.0 hub to the existing sockets if there's room. This layout (taken from the 84-key IBM AT keyboard) is what I grew up with, and as such it's perfect for me. Not everyone likes it, but do note that one advantage it has is that it allows both other "standard" layouts without manufacturing different hardware. As such it should be moddable if you really want a 101-style layout, you just need keycaps and some solder.I have a love/hate affair with the left Windows key, so I have mixed feelings about the media key setup. I use the Win+* shortcuts frequently, but it's also annoying any other time. I would have preferred they simply used a blue or red Cherry keyswitch for it so you would you're pressing it. Hitting the media keys is strenuous: the closest two (Steelseries + F1) are 4" apart, roughly the maximum I can separate my pinky and index finger, but it also requires twisting your hand at an awful angle. The keypress feel is alright - but I immediately understand why some people dislike the linear black switches for typing. It will be challenging to get used to it. At the moment I'm making far more mistakes than usual, although I'm not the best touch typist.Physically: -The keycaps are meh. I knew beforehand the labels were painted on, but they are actually quite rough and I don't care for the feeling. This also makes it harder to feel for the home row. I don't think I do enough gaming to worry about the labels wearing off.-Meanwhile, one thing I did not expect is that the Capslock key is not indented. This makes it easier to hit accidentally: good if you use it in games, but no good if you're bad at touch-typing. Without the indent you can't tell it's not the 'A' key if your hands are badly positioned. -The LEDs are not as bad as some people make them out to be - from a normal angle they are merely very visible. However if you're looking down into them for some reason, they are painfully bright.-The wristrest is a disappointment, but not because I dislike it: The keyboard itself is 44.8cm wide, but grows to 48cm with the addition. This is simply too big for my fairly wide (75cm) keyboard tray - it will not fit beside even a standard mouse pad. Obviously this is a subjective problem, but I'd argue that they could easily have used a metal or metal-supported frame so the width would stay almost the same.-Connectivity is achieved via a 6.5' cable, which splits into four near the end. This makes it somewhat stiff. The braiding feels nice.-For a black + non-glossy board, I can already see dust is going to be an issue. Static is making bits of it hang off the sides, this may just be because of the wrist-rest (not grounded). The keyboard seems to need a lot of power. At first I plugged it into my passively powered KVM switch - the lights flashed on and off once, but no keys would respond. I solved the issue by plugging it into the motherboard directly. I did not try adding the KVM's wall-wart or connecting the the upstream USB cable.

Cons: Broke after 1 month of use (PgDn key started sending multiple keystrokes when pressed just once)

Pros: Good lookingGood keys layout, no stupid frillsGood wrist support
Comment:
It was fine while it worked. But within a couple of weeks the PgDn key started acting up - sometimes it sends multiple keystrokes when pressed just once. This made the keyboard unusable for obvious reasons.I program for a living, and use my keyboard 12+ hours per day - normally, my keyboards last for about a year. This one lasted less than a month. Not good.

Despite not having fancy backlighting this was the very best keyboard i have ever used. This significantly improves my typing speed from 67 to avg 75, the response of this keyboard is also faster than my G15 and that's important because i play games competitively and speed is everything.

Cons: Overprice

Pros: The keyboard is pretty much top-quality and better than my last one (Dell crap). All the switches use gold-plated connectors for higher sensitivity and faster response. The keys have perfect resistance. Basically this keyboard is a monster of durability, and if you don't pour Coke on it, it will probably last you forever. It is the best gaming keyboard I have ever used. I can make extremely slight movements on it that I am unable to do with a run of the mill keyboard or even other gaming keyboards because of their lack of the gold-plated switches, which are more conductive. Looks good, not overly L33T, like some of those lame Dell keyboards.
Comment:
This keyboard comes equipped with linear (black) cherry mechanical switches; these type of switches are neither springy nor spongy, and provide no tactile feedback. I highly recommend that you demo this keyboard to see if the key feel and travel is right for you. Please make note of the layout; the enter key takes up two rows, forcing the backslash key up a row and halving the width of the backspace key.I bought this keyboard primarily for gaming. I have found that I do not like the linear cherry switches. General typing is a bit cumbersome. I find that if I move my hand off the WASD keys I have a hard time finding them again without looking at the keyboard. Nothing about using this keyboard feels natural to me. After several months I've found that I can't acclimate myself to this keyboard and will be looking for a replacement. It is a quality unit. If they used blue or brown cherry switches and re-worked the backspace, enter, and backslash keys I would consider it again

Comment:
My 1985 built PS2 keyboard was a work of art, and still going strong. But really it looked like it belonged on the ground in the capital waste land.Wanting that IBM feel and build quality but a modern look I chose this keyboard. My PS2 keyboard was around 250 dollars new in 1985 dollars!(I got it surplus in the mid 90s ofr 10 bucks..) But still going strong 24 years later. This one will probably not last as long but cost less too. The key feel really is a great match to the feel of the IBM. The look is way better and I would rate the ergonomics better. I never expected to use the palm rest as I always hate them. But the profile of this one was excellent and imedialty more comfortable.I paired the key board with a G5 mouse that I allready new I liked and sure enought it really is a great set.No back light, no macros, no "ergonomic twist"Solid, tactile, and sleek.I am very satisfied with this keyboard.I will come back in 24 years and say if it delivered like my PS2 one did.
