Cons: Unstable, slow, unsafe, closed, unreliable, annoying, expensive.

Pros: I won't lie, it has none.
Comment:
Don't waste your money buying this OS when you can have much more FOR FREE installing Linux (Ubuntu, Fedora, etc..).I'm giving it 3 stars because you can't give it 1 star without NCIX's permission... another limitation to our freedom!

Cons: Very slowResurce consuming

Pros: Cool interface
Comment:
I think this is one of Mircosoft failures. The system is resource consuming and slows a lot the system. I had to shut down all the tasks and processes to make it decent. The securty feature is hell. Asks for all small changes (drives wife crazy) to agree them. I upgraded to Win 7 and the difference is huge. 10 Times better

I bought Vista back in March when I built my i7 system. Has been a great, solid operating system. Really haven't had any problems with it at all. I'll be upgrading one rig to Windows7, but will be keeping Vista to run on my new rig.

Cons: Windows update  gave me a dud for a driver when it came to my Gigabyte onboard network card.

Pros: It works fine.
Comment:
Would've liked to get the Windows 7 upgrade with this one but it's nice to have all 4GB of RAM usable. Windows update  did end up giving me a bad driver for my network card though.

Cons: A few of my old games don't work.... Waaa

Pros: stablesmoothsecurelooks good
Comment:
I have been using Vista 64 bit since last May. I just bought another copy for a second computer I just built. I have been really impressed with the stability. Vista itself has given me no problems, it looks good and the interface is easy and I find very intuitive to use. The security is great, and I have no problems with pop ups warning me. Its an extra click people! I have yet to get a blue screen or have a program crash on me. My only real gripe, and its a tiny one, a few of my older games are not supported. Damn you Microsoft.... oh wait. Its not up to microsoft to make the games work. That should be the makers of the games. Hmmmm. Updates and driver support are not the fault of Microsoft so I guess its a gripe about the support the programming community is giving Vista.

So far, I'm loving Windows Vista. I don't get why everyone hates it. I upgraded from XP and wow! Vista is much more enjoyable to use. Be sure to disable that stupid UAC though.

Cons: Vista is a bit of an acquired taste, plus uses more resources than XP (thankfully can throw lots of RAM at 64-bit).

Pros: 64 bit = finally access more than 4GB RAM. Much fewer compatibility issues than expected. Stable and effective so far. Doubt I'm missing any of the features of the more expensive versions.
Comment:
Hadn't had much experience with Vista up until I purchased this for my new i7 rig. Wanted to get a 64-bit OS and figured XP is on its way out so may as well give Vista a try, especially now that a lot of the original kinks have been worked out. Was surprised at how few software issues I had going to 64-bit/Vista (Quickbooks was the only one, and it's notorious). Everything else installed and is working as it's supposed to. Ability to access extra RAM is a godsend for Photoshop.Takes some getting used to the interface vs. XP - I'm indifferent to the Aero look. Had to do some customizing to get rid of annoying defaults (user access control mainly). Otherwise, Vista has been fine in my experience - much better than the bad rap it's gotten.

Cons: Extra stuff that wastes resources, but you can turn this off.

Pros: Works with all my programs, games. I like the photo gallery.
Comment:
I went from XP to Vista when I purchased my new laptop and have had no problems with it. I play games, use photo editing software such as lightroom and photoshop elements and Vista is great. I have had no issues with 64-bit. I had heard that some people had driver issues, etc ... but everything is fine here. I turned off a lot of the extra stuff (eg. widgets, fancy desktop stuff that hogs resources, etc). Once you customize Vista, it's fine.

I just upgraded to 64 bit Vista a month ago and I can't figure why I did not do this a long time ago. So far everything just works perfectly. I have no problems at all getting drivers for anything and all my programs and games work flawlessly. I currently have 4 gig of ram, but I am going to be upgrading to 6 or 8 gig in the near future. I would recommend 64 bit to anyone.

Pros: great OS, havent really run into any problems - sexy
Comment:
after having xp for over 6 years, it took a little to get used to vista. but imo, its a lot better in terms of being able to navigate, appearance, and pretty much everything.also, if UAC annoys you, google 'silencing UAC' or something like that. leaves it on, but no prompts. nice ;)

Pros: Awesome OS.
Comment:
Bought this OS for my first computer build. Initially worried about compatibility with 32 bit software but as it turns out, the only new program I had to search for (from those found on my 32 bit laptop) was another firewall. All in all, an excellent OS. Will buy again with future builds.

Pros: Every program that I ran on XP runs fine on Vista 64 bit.8GB or RAM is able to be allocated
Comment:
My biggest concern for Vista was wondering if my programs and games would run without issue, especially as I was moving from 32 bit XP to 64 bit Vista. The huge advantage of a 64 bit system is that I can run and utilize 8GB of RAM. Pros: Got to use all my RAMGot it cheaper then it is now
Comment:
Overall i was happy using Vista 64bit. I only had one major problem with it, and that it like to hang for 10+ seconds when opening folders with many thumbnails. Kind of silly.Second problem was that it had way too many processes...and for what? Best i could get it to while still be able to use all my programs and utilities was 51 processes. Before i began tweaking it was above 70, gross! However other then those two issues, i can't recall having any other problems with Vista 64bit. I wouldn't purchase it again though. Speaking of which, why the heck is the price rising on this OS?!? I only paid a hair over $100 for my copy from NCIX.

Cons: - Not all service based software works- Memory hog

Pros: - Love it or hate it, it's the new Windows- 64-bit = lots of memory support- Drivers are easy to find
Comment:
The O/S everybody loves to hate! With the release of SP-1, I found Vista quite tolerable; even... dare I say... enjoyable. There's always going to be a bit of a learning curve with a new O/S. The folder structure takes a while to get used to. But once you do, it's fine. Vista is still a memory hog (both RAM and HDD), but with new builds, memory is relatively affordable. 64-bit lets you bump up beyond 4GB of RAM, and drivers are readily available for most new hardware. Only complaint, more against software providers - some software that uses services (like Apache and PHP, for the developers) don't install nicely and you need to do an x64 build.

I have honestly never had a problem with Vista. Everyone does say it is over protective and what not, but you can disable a lot of those features. I dont really see what all the fuss is about, but honestly i like it. This review was modfied by poster @ 03-20-09 10:20 PM

What is there to say about vista much wiser people have had more to say about it then I have. Sure Vista is going to have more requirements than XP. But I think if you have the hardware for it that there isn't going to be problems.I went with 64bit to take advantage of more RAM and so far haven't had to many issues with 64bit support.I think overall the Vista hate is blown slightly out of proportion.

Cons: None assuming you have the correct system requirements

Pros: Looks, speed, security (compared to XP)
Comment:
A lot of people say that XP is better than Vista but I don't know why people are still saying that. Vista is compatible with all programs XP could run, it is faster (just have 2GB of ram, and they are really cheap these days). Although if you don't need Vista at the moment just wait for Windows 7 which should be out soon.

was easy to install. The oem version is much more affordable than the ones found at retail stores.pop-ups get annoying, but once you have used it enough it gets easier to deal with.install was quick and easy, although thats more due to my cpu and hard drive i guess.

Cons: - It is Vista 64bit- Some drivers still need some work

Pros: + It is Vista 64bit+ Drivers are coming more readily available
Comment:
Having used Vista on my laptop, I was comfortable in purchasing a license for my new computer and decided to take the plunge for 64bit. The majority of drivers have been good, but for older hardware are non-existent or buggy. And since MS will be moving forward with Windows 7, it is a good starting point for getting used to what 7 will bring.
