Cons: Slow.Resource hog.Lots of bugs; but have been fixed through updates by Microsoft.Driver problems with all my mice before installing SP1.

Pros: Works.Microsoft OS.Windows Aero.Easy to learn all the new features.
Comment:
This was my big leap from XP to Vista. At first Vista sucked, but then I learned I can disable those pop up messages and everything, which made it suck less, but after installing Windows 7 and comparing Vista with 7 (although Windows 7 is technically an optimized version of Vista), Vista is crap.

Cons: ALOT.

Pros: Less bugs then Home premium. Eye candy.
Comment:
I had Vista Home premium and ultimate from my experience ultimate seems to be better in a lot of ways. It has fewer bugs but then XP beats it.

Cons: PriceSome Compatibility issues with older computers

Pros: Nice UIMedia Center great for HTPC
Comment:
I tried running this OS on one of my older computers and it ran okay. Even though I wasn't able to take advantage of the Aero graphics I still enjoyed the change from XP. The Lack of drivers for some of my components resulted in my reverting back to xp, but other than that fact I would definitely use vista in my future computer.

Pros: - Powefull- Nicely Polished Look- Increased Security- DirectX 10

I've been using windows XP with Service Pack 3 for a while, and although it runs great, I do enjoy using Vista a little more, the more I use it the more I am getting familiar with it, because at first it was somewhat a little disorienting. The only warning I'd have to give is to ones who have home networks; Vista can be an ass! It let's you share an internet connection with Windows XP, but it is very hard to get it to share other things like printers or files. So unless you are willing to go around the internet to find the right forums that talk about such subjects {and a few headaches}, either update all the computer in your home with Vista or simply keep Windows XP for the moment.I have experienced a difficulty after a few Windows Updates, but fortunately windows Vista is quite alot more stable and is better at fixing it's mistakes, a simple automated rollback to the last know good configuration and everything was spic-and-span!I highly recommend Vista to those willing to spend time to learn about a 'new' Operating System, or else stay away and keep Windows XP.

Cons: Performance.

Pros: It's purdy, ease of use, error recovery.
Comment:
I really don't understand why Vista has had so many bad reviews. I've been amazed a few times such as when I had a bad video driver installed. It kept on crashing but instead of blue screening like previous versions would have it kindly restarted the driver and essentially said, "Hey just so you know... your video driver crashed but I restarted it for you." Vista has never blue screened, frozen up, or anything on me. The interface is smooth and worthy of showing off. Bitlocker has worked wonderfully. The other day I couldn't get internet so I hit diagnose and it let me know that my DNS server was down. The only downside is I have lost about 5-10fps in most of my games.

Cons: -Slower response-Too many permission requests for the administrator-High CPU usage just for idle process

Pros: -Great looking GUI-Fast startup-Ready boost is pretty handy
Comment:
Vista takes some getting used to but it isn't as bad as everyone says it is. I would recommend this OS if you have a newer computer with at least 2GB of RAM and a decent dual core to make everything run smoothly. Not that it won't run on a lesser system. I would just suggest XP for anything less.

Bought this for using on Bootcamp on a macbook. It takes a bit getting used to new UI. IE 7 crashes a lot on this even after a lot of updates. Maybe everything will be resolved on SP 1 update.

I've had this operating system for a while but I was just too accustomed to XP so I had to switch back. It's a very good operating system but, they need to tweak it a bit and make it faster. Until they do that, I'm going to be home with XP.

Cons: The price.

Pros: Great features, excellent usability and interface, stable.
Comment:
Vista Ultimate is loaded with all the features, including the ones you don't need haha. I bought it because I needed Remote Desktop and Previous Versions is appealing. I got it here at NCIX after pricematch very cheap; at the same price as Vista Business so I found it a good deal... but regardless of the relative price it's still quite expensive. Generally, it's an excellent OS considering that it works flawlessly with appropriate hardware and don't expect it to work with a Pentium III or your computer with $5 RAM and a $10 PSU.

Got two copies from NCIX during the sale at the start of the month for my father and brother for xmas. Installed like a breez, had no issues getting anything setup. DX10 is a big bonus as they play a few current DX10 titles. Two thumbs up for NCIX!

Overall a good operating system, good graphics, some nice features. I have one gig of ram and it is usually filled to the brim when I play any modern games. I also have a problem with my sound driver, and it seems that a lot of computers are having problems with sound drivers.

Cons: None so far for me.

Pros: Easy to use. Elegant looking.
Comment:
At first it has some compatibility issues regarding hardware and drivers. After using it for 30 days and getting it updated, it becomes more and more stable. Runs great on my computer. It doesnt suck like a lot of people here says so. This is probably the most secure Windows ever, probably too secure that it gets annoying sometimes. Anyhow great OS.

Cons: uses around 25% of my ram just sitting there :(

Pros: not as bad as people say.

i was a little queasy upgrading to Vista, but im glad that i did. it was easy to install, and i had no trouble running my drivers, and there is an option to run games un window xp compatability, so all my games run just fine, the menues are easy to use and the graphics look cool. i only lost about 3 fps in battlefield 2 so it wasnt that huge of a change. over all, don tgo around agreeing with other people who havent even used it and say it sucks, i like it, its works fine looks cool and is easy to use.

Cons: Runs slower than XP. Not perfectly stable. I had crashed a few times in 3 weeks of use.

Pros: Easy installation, better appearance
Comment:
I do noticed it becomes smoother after use. Perhaps it's the superfetch? I had some compatibility issue with some hardware. and my computer would not start again if i put it to sleep. Aero 3D is not really useful. But overall. I would stick with it, even though it cost me to upgrade my computer.

Cons: resource hog; software backward compatibility issue; lack of drivers

Pros: eye candy, great look & feel; easy and fast installation;
Comment:
the vista ultimate is top of line of microsoft's new operating system for desktop and laptop, the install is easy and fast, take less time than XP; the interface is much improved, easier to use, aero glass is just amazing, not functionally, just eye candy.as vista is still new, it may lacks of drivers for your hardware, or the driver is not stableyou do need a powerful system to run vista smoothly, it's constantly hogging cpu, memory, hard drive, so get a dual core, 2gb ram, sata2 hd if you cannote that oem edition can't transfer license, and either x86 or x64

Cons: UAC is ANNOYING!!!, not very compatible with old software, some manufacturers don't have vista drivers yet. Ultimate is pricey.

Pros: Looks nice, super slick installation process, secure, almost-not-legacy
Comment:
Let's face it... you're gonna have to use vista eventually, but should you buy it now? Simple answer: No. Unless you do pretty basic stuff with your computer, you should wait for a while, because a lot of software and hardware won't work quite right in Vista right now. Maybe check back in a few months...If you're desperate to jump on the Vista bandwagon though, Ultimate can be a great product if you're not too price sensitive, and want to make sure that you get the full experience, and aren't missing any features. Unlike XP Home, however, Vista Home Premium still offers most of the useful features you'd need, and for business environments, or professionals, you most likely won't miss the features of home premium. Most of what Vista is is a pretty good upgrade over XP... it installs simply and easily, no more archaic DOS screens, it works with modern hardware pretty seamlessly (unless the manufacturer is a little slow releasing drivers, as many are), and it looks great. The first thing you'll notice when you start using it though, is that the User Access Control is the most annoying security implementation you have ever seen on any computer, on any O/S in your whole life. I don't know what they were thinking, but if you've ever seen that Mac ad with the secret service guy questioning everything the PC does, it's NOT an exaggeration, sadly.
