When it performs, it the sound is clear and crisp. If my paychecks came with the same regularity as Inventive solutions worked correctly I would be on the streets. Popping noise, distorted audio, poor help. I'll go back to onboard sound prior to I obtain something else Creative. I hope somebody will challenge this straw man of a organization

Hardware Accelerated EAX 4.Ǜ.HRTF for headphones and four-speakers configuration.A lot more precise 3D audio positioning and greater sounding environmental effects than software program mixing.OpenAL and DirectSound3D (using Creative Alchemy) Hardware Acceleration operates below vista It appears games created following 2009 (generally speaking) no longer support hardware acceleration and can not use X-Fi's much better 3d audio and environmental processing.Only games that assistance OpenAL or DirectSound3D can take benefit of the X-Fi. Games that use FMOD or in-engine sound mixing have no advantage with the X-Fi (Emu20k2 processor). I bought this card considering it would make the audio in my games far more realistic and immersive.Rather, I'm seriously disappointed mainly because none of my existing games I'm playing help hardware acceleration. It's not Creative's fault that game developers won't enable OpenAL (or DirectSound3D) acceleration, but then once more, I wouldn't have bought this card if I'd identified this beforehand.I'm giving this card three eggs since I tested it on an older game that did assistance OpenAL, and it does sounds excellent so I know the card operates! It's actually sad game developers no longer assistance hardware audio. Now it's just taking up space in my PCIe slot and doing practically nothing.

Plugged it in. Windows 7 x64 recognized it. Had sound operating before I even installed the drivers. Just couldn't get the mic to perform. I downloaded the drivers off of the creative site and everything went so smoothly. Changed the alternative from Line In to Microphone below Flexijack alternatives and bam. Worked like a champ. Such a smooth installation hardware and application sensible. For 74.99 flat with cost-free shipping and no tax, come on this is a fantastic deal. I honestly didn't notice also significantly difference over sound quality. There is some, just marginal but eh what ever. I needed a Toslink output and this thing gave it to me. I don't comprehend how folks have so a lot of challenges with this card. This has been my initial Creative purchase and it was oh so basic. I would advocate to a buddy if they required a decent sound card.Windows 7 64-BitIntel D975XBX2 Motherboard

None if you have a newer motherboard +win7. Otherwise there may possibly be some pros. Dolby Digital Live and DTS Connect are incompatible with Win7. Why bother with the card if it can\'t do the one point that my on-board cannot do? Large waste of ๨.50 I bought this from a nearby retailer. Fortunately they have a truly good return system like Newegg because this item is extremely misleading. If some functions do not work with Win7 then make it apparent to the customer!!!! I had to get in touch with customer assistance to locate this out. Following telling me to download the DDL and DTS Connect enabling drivers they then tell me it does not work with Win7. To discover out the item only half works with my OS I had to get in touch with consumer support? Truly sad....

The sound good quality is excelent, it gives sufficient ports to satisfy most everyone I can feel of, and the cost (compared to the premium edition) was excellent. Registration. The program pesters you just about every time it can about registering, then it asks you if you genuinely want to register.I want other add-on cards functioned like graphics cards. Typical driver updates, and no annoyances about registering outdoors of driver installation. Worth a look if you want to expand you computer's sound program, but has its fair share of annoyances. I am not certain if I would purchase it once more unless the value point was in the 70-80 dollar variety.

Fine piece of hardware which added benefits higher quality computer system speaker systems. Windows 7 drivers very easily download and set up. Superb 24 bit sound good quality for gamers and music aficionados alike. This is just a single of several SoundBlaster sound cards I have invested in over the last ზ years. Application situation: The Media Toolbox six is misleadingly advertised as incorporated with the package. In truth, only a 30 day trial version is supplied with an provide to acquire a downloadable license for ื.99. Inventive's internet site also indicated it is incorporated and tends to make no try to crealify that it is only a trial version. Creative help created no bones about telling me I need to buy the license and created no work to clarify the misleading list of 'bundled software program' on their internet web page. Thus by escalating the price of a $኿.99 item by $ኃ.99, there is no longer a affordable value in this item and I will search for an option manufacturer for future recommendations to pals and household. Apparently, the accountants thought it would be a very good way to improve the cost by 39%. This event has also encourage me to search the open supply neighborhood for options.

Turned my sennheiser hd 380's into complete 7.1 surround sound. It also has a bass booster and made the bass a MILLION occasions better. Turned my headphones into "bass head" headphones. General sound is unbelievable and you WILL notice a big distinction if you are upgrading from onbaord. I had onboard 7.1 alc888 and this blows it out of the water. The transition from stereo to 7.1 headphones with a bass booster is phenominal. The instal was Easy on windows 7. Worked proper away. Drivers are FINE. 200 MB dl for new updated drivers even though. The audio manager on this thing is amazing and user friendly. For games this is godly. If you have any game with fire, you can stand by it, close your eyes, and literally really feel like the fire is 5 feet from you (so cool). Can hear the crisp crackely and popping of it and waterfalls in games sounds the same way. Awesome also for hearing exactly where enemies are in BF2, CS, TFC two, w/e FPS u are playing. None. Works flawlessly on W7. Really pleased Get this if you have a very good set of stereo headphones and want to transform them into full 7.1 surround sound with a sick bass booster. I guarantee you won't regret it and you will wonder how you lived with no it. I'm confident it sounds great with speakers also.

Really loud! Effortless to install, straightforward to use drivers and utilities. All surround functions execute completely. Gaming is excellent! Cost. The quality of this card should merit a price drop to about ็. Like other reviewers i too have skilled some intermittent hissing or popping. It is very infrequent, but far more that when is too much for a 贄 card. Also substantially, get it on sale if u can. Replaced an Audigy two ZS.

Sound driver installation is complicated with Windows 7. Windows 7 automatically set up's drivers for devices appropriately most occasions. This is the only item so far, that I've encountered that needed me to manually set up the driver.

* EAX 5 (though it's largely unsupported)* Cleaner audio than numerous on-board solutions * Sometimes buggy interface (Audio stops operating. Have to restore defaults and reconfigure - Seldom)* Disconnected interface requiring "mode" switching.* Known problems with nForce boards THAT IS Extremely Effortless TO Fix IN THE BIOS! (see other thoughts)* A lot of developers are moving to audio enhancements "In-Engine" rendering EAX pointless. For these who are whining about their nForce boards not functioning. First DISABLE ON-BOARD AUDIO!If you purchased a sound card, you probably won't want the on-board audio anyway.

Noticeable enhance in sound excellent over on-board audio. The software sucks; when playing games on the internet you have to counter-intuitively set the card from "game" mode to "audio creation" mode and jump by means of a couple small hoops to get your mic to operate with no reside monitoring / wicked feedback. Even if I had a headset I'd nevertheless want to jump by way of the same hoops; I assume it would be quite distracting to hear my personal voice in my headphones a millisecond after speaking. Dolby Digital and DTS support is a joke.. "Enabling" Dolby Digital merely up-mixes stereo signals and sends that more than TOSLINK. Leaving these features enabled also prevents my personal computer from becoming in a position to go to sleep. The card will decode surround sound and output in 7.1 IF YOU HAVE AN *ANALOG* 7.1 SPEAKER Method. Stereo PCM only plays more than TOSLINK UNLESS: For HTPC purposes, to get the card to bitstream the DD soundracks of all your blueray rips to a surround sound receiver, you have to pick "SPDIF output" as the default device from audio properties in the windows manage panel. Media Player really should automatically play DD tracks when present. The card will output in stereo PCM for any other audio, but you'll notice it requires the card half a second to establish what kind of audio is playing so when coming from silence you'll hear any sound missing a smaller bit from the beginning as it "learns" the signal kind.

Installed simple, even with my 275 GTX nearly covering the PCI-E slot I wanted to place it in. Alot of men and women don't like inventive drivers, but I located the auto update program really beneficial. It finds new drivers for my sound card and inventive fatality series headset with just a couple of quick clicks. None so far. I nonetheless haven't truly place the sound card to the test yet. Don't have 5.1 or 7.1 speakers oddly adequate but.

PCI-Express slot compatible, has optical in and out (great for hooking my PS2 up), decent feature set, functions fine with my analogue Klipsch ProMedia 5.1 speakers.A nice addition to residence theater boxes. has some identified issues with the nforce 4 based motherboards (popping/hissing) when paired with a specific amount of memory (especially for flash movie playback). Demands some tweaking in software program to resolve these concerns. Verify out their web site for far more info. Creative was reluctant to completely support the function set of their Soundblaster two ZS series cards in Windows 7 ࿠ bit), and only restored most the functionality immediately after end customers developed drivers to re-enable features that Inventive had disabled in the newest software program. Therefore, I'm reluctant to recommend Creative products until they adapt a much more proactive stance on supporting their merchandise in new OS releases.

- Superb sound top quality- No, genuinely, Great sound excellent- Hardware FX in games which means that your CPU gets a massive relief - sloppy, disrespectful, preposterous drivers MP3, CD, and so on playback - merely outstanding. Incredibly neutral, stunning, airy, organic sound. Music creation: couldn't make it run appropriately with the Sonar v8 in WDM mode. Clicking and crackling all the way by way of, no matter what. Runs amazingly nicely in MME mode with really low latency, but haven't had a chance yet to run like 20 virtual instruments at a time to see how it holds. ASIO performs with other apps but hangs below Sonar.Definitely a attractive piece of hardware that Creative's programmers can't specifically deal with. But, if you're only soon after "common use" (music playback and gaming), this is certainly a sound board to get! It sound just stunning!

Puts all other cards to shame. Ran an Audigy Platinum forever. When making use of SLI or Crossfired cards, the Platinum would have to be in the middle due to the fact of the size of the graphics cards. This partially blocks half of the fan on the top rated card. This X-Fi PCI express card freed up that PCI slot and now each cards run at the same temp.Niiiice!!!!! Sounded genuinely negative at initially with stock drivers. It was crackling really poor. Operating Win 7 64bit Ultimate. When Creative produced the appropriate drivers obtainable, it was bliss!! You can't go incorrect. A small pricey but I've been running Audigy Platinums in my rigs for 7 years now. I guess it's time to upgrade.

At default settings this card is very good, but you won't hear a enormous difference more than onboard sound (in mp3's), given that most motherboard integrated sound chips are capable of the same basic characteristics as the X-Fi series ࿼ khz 24-bit playback). I'll describe the tweaks in the "Other Thoughts" section. As soon as tweaked, you'll be blown away (assuming you have decent speakers/headphones) by the high quality of the audio. No a lot more do I have to face crackleing in the heavy, rolling bass in songs like "Requiem for a tower" (Lord of the Rings remix of "Requiem of a Dream", high treble's aren't distorted either. It's tough to notice before getting the card, but when you've heard it there's no going back. I was beneath the impression this had X-RAM (onboard RAM to improve audio overall performance), but it turns out it doesn't. This isn't a massive difficulty, given that incredibly couple of games utilise this function (it calls for certain programming) and apparently it doesn't make a enormous distinction in performance, so I'm still satisfied. No EMI shield like the Fatal1ty Pro, so if you have to get your card up close and personal with your video card (less than 1 inch away) than you might expertise the infamous popping problem (little pops in sound playback, type of like an old record) to due Electromagnetic-Interference. This vulnerability exists in any unshielded sound card and is not a dilemma inherent only to X-Fi's. Farther than 1 inch away and you must be good. This card shines when you activate and tweak the following settings:Crystalizer - For most songs, turn this down to ten-20%, in songs like Poker Face, you may possibly take pleasure in turning it up to 50%, but no more. To much can kill the bass in a song.CMSS-3D - Fantastic in conjuction with headphones, for some purpose, the settings web page implies it upscales stereo to 5.1ǝ.1 surround sound, however it actually doesn't have any impact with my speakers when playing an mp3 recorded in stearo format. With headphones on it sounds excellent, as lengthy as you change the channel mode to "Headphones".Playback Mode - This is a biggie. When gaming, set it to gaming mode (duh),when watching motion pictures, set it to Entertainment Mode. When listening to music (mp3's, etc) modify it to "Audio Creation Mode", and enable Bit-Matching Playback. This fundamentally makes use of hardware to upscale sound bitrate to max system price. This is the essential to excellent mp3 playback.

This card is fantastic. The sort of detail that comes through was nicely beyond the stock sound card that came with my motherboard. Onboard RAM assists system functionality a small. Windows 7 Drivers are a tiny off for this card. They can cause problems at occasions. The card itself didn't fairly match in my case. I have an Antec 1200 and a ASRock X58 Intense motherboard. Sounds excellent with my old gtx 260 core 216 that i had for two years. Upgraded to a gtx 570 and that's where the difficulties started... I was acquiring game crashes with even though making use of my gtx 570. I tried placing the gtx 260 back in and anything worked fine. Went even though all the ram tests, bios flashing, and driver updates nothing at all seemed to perform. Then I removed the sound card and its drivers and magically anything worked. Place the card back in the system and the games began crashing again. The other thing i had noticed was a higher pitched squeal that wasn't there prior to. There is no doubt this is a driver situation. I don't know if nvidia is going to release drivers to repair this concern or creative is. I just hope its soon so I can get off the dreadful on board sound.
