Cons: Make sure it's in stereo mode if you start it up with your headphones or stereo speakers. It was in surround mode when I first started to use it and wondered why it didn't sound quite right.
Pros: Very good headphone amp onboard. Easily drives my AKG K271 MkII cans.Desktop control panel is well laid out and easy to use.Front panel header on the card allows me to use the built-in headphone jack on the front of my Antec Eleven Hundred case.Hey, it looks good through the case window! |
THX TrueStudio Pro surround with just two speakers on this card is excellent in my opinion. I thought it was a bit of a gimmick when I first saw it on the desktop panel, and I've heard a lot of poorly done effects of this kind but I'll be using this one a lot, particularily with live albums. Very clear and immersive. This card drives a wide variety of headphones. Earbuds through to full size, so I've taken advantage of the fact that this card makes it easier to set up preset EQ settings for each. I have yet to use it in 5.1 mode.
