it's as advertised, excellent video quality. i like being able to adjust zoom level mid-video. make sure you get a big memory card, especially for shooting in the 1080p and the 720p action mode (i can't remember what it's called exactly). |

Bought it for x-mas for my Husband. He loves it. Only one small thing, to get the latest soft ware, you need to buy an adaptor for the memory card as you can't download the update directly on the camera. Other than that, great image quality, sound is very good, even I can use it! |

I really love my zi8! It's a really light high performance camcorder. There's a few things I would like to say. The camera battery runs low in about 1 hour of use. It uses a lot of memory to record, about 30 minutes on 1080p, 40 minutes on 720, using a 4 gb sdhc card. The lenses shoot close up, so i had to buy a wide angle lens attachment to make up for it. Other than that, this product is great. |

This camera does beat the Flip and does provide very good video, especially in the 60fps mode. For the price it is unbeatable. Pros: ease of use. High quality picture, expandable memory, size, external mic capable. Removable battery. Great value for the $$. Cons: On board mic needs improvement. I don't really want to have to use an external mic. Zoom will darken picture suddenly and significantly at the halfway point at indoor light levels. Unit will also struggle with white balance in certain lighting situations, flaring the picture bright and then darkening again as it tries to manage the lighting situation. Overall this is a good unit and well worth the $$ for someone who wants a minimalist camera for casual use on the go. If the items mentioned above could be improved, it would be a great unit. Still, it is a solid performer and I do recommend it. |

With twice the storage of the Flip, this is a much smarter choice. The USB jack makes it a breeze to download video or stills to your computer, and the HDMI cable means you can play straight from the camera to your TV. Unbelievable product compared to the old $500 - $1,000 'video cameras.' |
I'm a video professional and this was my first purchase of a camera of this type. I bought it from http://www.just4deal.com. It is perfect for that purpose. I was interested to see how the Li battery would handle the cold. The first day out the temp was 2 degrees F and the camera had no issues. I've found the 720p60fps to be the best setting for any action shots.
