This is probably my 20th Build i have performed in the final ten years, and this board has been by far the easiest to set up, the OC genie is excellent, i have my Phenom II 965 over clocked to 4Ghz utilizing the oc genie and i have not had a problem with it but almost everything runs quick and smooth.... Performs good, no issues due to the fact the effortless install. BIOS is simple to function with/user friendly. The OC Genie Lite works like a dream. I'll be in a position to upgrade to SATA 3 and USB three devices later. Does not come with a Crossfire bridge, ought to get w/GPU or separately. A lot of boards don't come with them these days. Can't wait till I can afford my 2nd 6870 to run crossfire. I don't have any USB three. devices however-purchased it to be in a position to upgrade. I have an AMD x4 970, thus the core unlocker is unused.

Excellent price for 890FX chipset.Appears additional steady at high overclocks than my old 770 msi.Came with four sata cables and rear usb bracket.Have had to deal with MSI RMA quite a few occasions and had a great practical experience and that is why I chose MSI. If employing 2 dual slot cards in Crossfire, the bottom card covers one particular fan header entirely and puts A LOT of stress on the front panel header. Seriously? This is the newest 890FX motherboard however they can't design and style it to use two present cards devoid of blocking anything on the board. It was challenging to discover a decent review with an individual making use of dual slot cards in crossfire. I in no way understood why persons obtain the 890FX and use only one graphics card. Save your dollars and get an 880 or something.Program Specs:AMD 955 B.E. @ three.7GHz Corsair H50 push pull w/ Thermaltake 120mm fansMSI 890FXA-GD65XFX HD 6870 reference X2G-Talent Sniper 2X4GB 1333 9casCorsair 650TX PSUCooler Master HAF 912

Preferred "PRO": My BIOS-related concern where an enabled USB Controller setting would result in a technique hang throughout setup has ultimately been resolved with a BIOS update. (beta ver 18.1B3)Also, as stated previously, the board's layout is uncomplicated to perform with comfortably.BIOS menu effortless to navigate and manual was much better presented than those from previous builds.Have been in a position to play about with an overclock of my 555BE and have successfully unlocked the 3rd and 4th cores on the cpu. Also have been able to setup my RAID array working with the onboard controller with tiny difficulty. Have observed that there is some speaker hissing (white noise) at shutdown working with the onboard sound, but most likely not going to be a large problem for any individual.Present BIOS version providing greater reading for program temp than CPU core temp - considering that this is a beta BIOS version and the system is not running hot, I haven't concerned myself with it. Will re-evaluate with the subsequent official BIOS update. Am appreciative of the responsiveness of MSI assistance as well as their possessing supplying me with an updated BIOS file (ver. 18.1B3) that resolved my blocking problem re: USB Controller enabled|disabled status in BIOS.The only regret that I have is that it took as extended as it did for me to get this resolved and they were not in a position to determine this problem before I went through the RMA cycle the first time. Now that I've had a likelihood to play about with the program, I'm enjoying it. The develop is steady, operating Win 7 x64 and has a lot of horsepower for the gaming that I throw at it. It did take some doing, but I am now happy with my purchase.

Nice seeking board & layout. Instructions seemed relatively effortless to comply with. DOA out of the box. Wouldn't POST with or with no memory plugged in. Every little thing seemed to power-up (Mobo LEDs, fans, and so forth.), but never heard 1 chirp from the speaker, nor got any video signal from two different recognized-fantastic vid cards. Immediately after reading about other unsuccessful RMA's exactly where the replacement board gave the similar troubles, I am really hesitant to try yet another of these exact boards. Will update soon after contacting Newegg consumer service to see what can be accomplished. eight phase VRM's, fairly an improvement more than the MSI GD70.USB3 and SATA3, and dual x16 PCIE slots.Memory slots laid out in alternating order so that if you only run two sticks, they have space to breathe.BIOS has all the tuning attributes needed for AM3 overclocking.Blue LED's on motherboard, and you can shut them off in the BIOS (they don't match my green fans).General looks good and constructed rugged. Plenty of small extras and accessories packed into the box.Way less costly than equivalent ASUS or Gigabyte boards with equivalent 8 phase power circuitry (even after cost went up). There are no flaws to this board as it the finish revision for 890FX boards, which means that they won't get superior than this until 990FX is readily available. I'm glad I bought it prior to ฤ price tag hike. OC'd my 1090T to 4.0GHZ 鴈x20) on only 1.38750v and it can go even additional. I'm impressed that I was capable to OC so higher on such a low voltage, and it's Prime95 smaller FFT stable.

appears excellent, constructed up easy. as soon as constructed up didn't run at all. This board is DoI, dead on set up or DoA, dead on arrival. Board arrived nicely protected. Accepted all of my parts quickly adequate, but when I turned it on, 1 light for the cpu, then absolutely nothing. Changed PSUs just to confirm, minus all peripherals, nada. I had heard excellent factors about MSI so I gave it a shot. Not sure I'll try MSI once more, mainly because DoA does happen when in awhile. This is 2nd doa board that I've ordered from Newegg, prior was a Gigabyte. So possibly the shipping approach is bothersome. Tough to bang on newegg for this, but it is awfully frustrating to get a PCB this just doesn't work as expected, let alone perform at all. Fantastic seeking board. Slot layout, and so forth.. was uncomplicated to negotiate when plugging in components.Documentation appears straightforward to read. ...but when attempting to run Windows 7 installation, my newly built method will not proceed past the 'Starting Windows' screen.I do not however have a resolution for this challenge however, but what I have observed is that I have to disable the USB controller in order to be able to proceed by way of Windows installation and startup.Yes, in this case that meant I took the time to drive the set up by way of my PSǘ keyboard only. No, a technique without USB help is not acceptable, so this board will have to go back if I can't get a resolution by means of MSI support.Wish me luck. The features are fantastic up to a point. I enjoy the wide spacing of the x16 lanes and additional x1 slots. It's an FX board for a fantastic value. Doesn't come with lengthy xfire bridge. Isn't an enthusiast overclocker, you can overclock, but it's in auto mode due to stability. I tried to get a 3.6 but it was buggy, nonetheless auto overclock has no difficulties receiving it there. I was acquiring a 4.1 with an phenom 1090t on a 790fx, can't look to get close to that with this board. For the price it's a incredibly very good board. If you're an enthusiast overclocker, commit a lil more and go with either the GD70 or a diverse brand. I'm not at all unpleased, I bought it early on when there had been no testimonials anyplace and my only dissappointment is in the overclocking arena. Possibly some forums will have this worked out later.

- Quickly, High end northbridge and every thing else- AM3 socket, DDR3 Dual Channel, Sata 6Gb/s, USB 3.- OC Genie, uncomplicated to overclock every thing. Really steady- OC'd my 8GB DDR3 1600Mhz easy.- Dual PCIe x16 at x16 speeds. (Amazing)- Attractive- M-Flash for bios updates makes it super simple. -Had the infamous USB controller challenge. Just flash the bios to 18.1 with the m-flash. No require to whine and give 1 egg. Not a massive con, but annoying none the significantly less.- Not truly another con but the northbridge heatsink seems really smaller for a higher finish northbridge. Wonderful mobo for the cash. It will hopefully last me a bit longer into the future with dual crossfire capabilities, USB 3. and Sata III. Runs hella quick with my HD 6870 and rips by way of any games. Definitely go for it.

The cause I went for an 890fx was to run my 1090t BE cpu. I put that cpu on my 790fx motherboard inplace of my 955BE, but win7 just didn't like the transform to a lot more cpu cores, my computer system crashed undesirable. No challenge, I have added backups on hand and I get it back up and operating like a champ. I introduced an ssd drive and it crashed once again. Takes along time putting it back with each other, so I purchased this board. It's not a poor board, I so far can't look to be in a position to get the voltage menu's off auto. I can go into amd overdrive and set the settings, but cpuz states it's still operating at 3.6 as an alternative of the four.1 amd O states it is. But this does come with a point named "control center" so I'm in a position to get this thing overclocked to 3.9 so far by upping the voltage necessary. My cpu is only operating 1.32v thru handle center (default 1.27v) to get it there. I'll be delighted with this board after I can get it stable at four.1 once again. The 1090t rates a WEI rating of 7.eight after overclocked w/less then 1.4vcore To get this board to post I had to get rid of the battery. Yes, you study appropriate. I thought I messed a thing up, but after replacing the ram I removed the battery for a spell and everthing was alright. Until I replaced the ram back the way I had it, then I had to get rid of the battery again. Now all is nicely with her. I really like the pcix1 slots, it's what led me to get this in the first spot. I need them. All other brands put them in spots that would cover them up with a video card, or right up against the north bridge heat sink.....A massive explanation I'm making use of two 5670's in xfire. Oh,the price fell 10 bones and totally free ship!!! *BLECK*, anyway, my initial MSI make. Hat's off to being the only mobo manufactuer that makes use of lots of pciex1 slots and then producing it so you can use at least two no matter which variety of video card you decide to use. If your cards can get more than the nb h/sink then that's two, and 1 if you use only one massive vid card. ram runs at 9-9-9-24 1t in the 1333 flavor, will try 7's later on. Proper now my WEI score for my rig is 7. and that's simply because I'm testing a couple of 5670's in application xfire. Don't know why, they won't beat out my 5850's, but I just want to be able to aid other people choose on their wants without having spending as a lot as I did for these 5850's. Right now the only games I play are LFD2(rarely) and BFBC2 and a single 5670 will play those, I'll just have a tiny additional of a increase. My two essential ssd (sata3.)drives in raid score 7.eight, my 8gigs of gskill sniper scores 7.six as does the cpu without having overclocking. I put this all in an antec 300 full blown w/fans and I'm utilizing a corsair 650w psu. A couple of 5770's would make this a decent technique. I'm working with a 92mm scythe angled fan and with tuniq paste it keeps the x6 nice and cool. Will locate out how cool through 3dmark tests. If you like pciex1 slots, then this is amazing. If you like pciex1 slots and the capacity to run xfire at x16, then this is it. Oc'ing isn't done the ole way, just so you know..it can be completed.

Lets just start out by saying that this is an outstanding board. Initially Tech to price tag ratio this is wonderful for any exactly where among a mid variety board to a gamer board. The board has so several useful features. The bios is rapid and normal nothing at all specific. But with Sata III, USB 3 and up to 14 usb 2 ports this board for this value you cant go wrong. The q connectors also come in handy for front panel connectors. And with the AM3+ and bulldozer assistance you can really upgrade this board. The MSI support has generally been incredible so if you ever have a difficulty then you rest assured that they'll do what they can. NO SLI why cant they just make these boards with both.
