Cons: Can't program it under Windows 7. I multiboot, and can program it fine under XP64, so not really a weakness for me.

Pros: It's a palmers delight! Programmable 5 stage dpi settings. Programmable buttons. Tracks like a demon. Weighting system works well. Hyperscolling helps withlightning fast web browsing!
Comment:
If you have small to medium sized hands, and palm, this is the gamer mouse for you! Setpoint software works perfect, easy to set up dpi settings ect. It takes some getting used to, even from a G5, but you will get comfortable with it very quickly.

Cons: seems to get dirtier a lot quicker than the g5

Pros: the dpi buttons are in a good spot, mouse wheel toggle is a nice addition
Comment:
I bought this when it was on sale as a replacement for my first generation g5. It's a solid upgrade but the paint wears off quickly and the mouse clicks were abnormal right out of the box (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WdCDd1jEMBY) but it eventually went away. Overall, I'm happy with it.

Cons: I dropped it once, and now the scroll button double clicks whenever I use it, and it also doesn't make the "click" sound anymore.

Pros: Adjustable WeightsNice design, and good feel.
Comment:
I got this mouse after my G5 died. I was hesitant at first if I wanted to buy this because I thought the 3 buttons on the side would kill my large hands. I was wrong, and the 3rd button does help a lot!I mainly play games like Counter Strike, Left 4 Dead, and Starcraft 2 with this, and it's great. It's very responsive, and I've never had any lag with the mouse. By default, I throw in all the heaviest weights because I like my mouse heavy. I tried putting my G5 weight cartridge in, but it doesn't fit. After that, I tried putting the G5 weights into the G500 cartridge, and that wasn't as effective as I thought it would be. You should just stick to the weights that were given in the box.A lot of people said that the mouse has this rough texture on it, but when I put it into my hands, I thought it was just the normal Logitech grippy-ness thing they have on all their line-up of older mice. The wire is braided, and it is very, very durable. I have a desk with sharp sides, and sometimes the wire gets stuck, and I end up pulling it, scraping it like crazy, and it's still intact and alive.I don't know if this is just me, but I would have liked to see 4 mouse feet at the bottom instead of 3. The right side of the mouse sometimes feels weird because there is nothing under that side.Overall, I really enjoyed this product. I payed for this, and I got basically all I wanted from it.

Cons: None really, though I wish I could store more than one profile onboard with this

Pros: Few frills, simple and retains the design of the popular MX-500 series mice, performance-oriented
Comment:
The G500 is the ultimate gamer's mouse at the moment. And I say that as a retired and washed up professional gamer, at one time ranked in the top-8 worldwide for CS (my team, that is). Forget the ridiculous Razer mice or whatever, simple is good. And the G500 does an amazing job of cutting out the unnecessary frills to make this a REAL gaming mouse. Sure, it's more feature-packed than its predecessor like the long-reigning MX-518, but in almost a universally good way.Comfort is absolute key for gamers, even pro gamers. I've seen the best players in the world regularly sit on pillows and such just to elevate themselves a few inches to make sure they're at their most comfortable, because when you're not, your game can really suffer. So the removable weights are a good thing. I believe the MX-300/500 series gaming mice always had removable weights, but it required damaging the sticker underneath and, if I recall, voiding the warranty. And it needed to be done carefully. That logitech has addressed this with such an elegant solution is not, in my opinion, an unnecessary frill.Next there's the software side of things. Being able to set a USB refresh rate is fantastic... PS/2 used to rule at LANs because it was the only "legitimate" way of increasing the polling rate, to 200 from 100. The only way to do it with USB was third party apps which overclocked the USB port, and tournaments very rarely allowed. So seeing this available in the drivers in great. Ditto with being able to store your profile on your mouse. Though being able to store more than one would be nice, if you're a tournament gamer, you're generally only going to be using ONE anyways. And lastly there's the dpi adjustment. Finally it's become at least SOMEWHAT useful. No longer are you confined to the preset steps that were forced upon you, you can choose 5 levels to be whatever is best for YOU, with the ability to unlink the x/y dimensions if you so choose. Granted, DPI switching has never been all that useful in professional CS (there is already an option to change the sensitivity ratio of zoomed weapons), but I imagine for some games it would be. Either way, being able to FULLY control it can only be a great thing. And last, but definitely not least, we have the performance laser tracker. Many pros were very slow to adopt laser mice because they were plagued with problems. Not only does this one fix any and all issues there might have been, this particular tracker (when I bought it anyways) is/was the absolute BEST in the market, although going all the way to the maximum DPI would be insane. In fact, it's got the same tracker as the G9X, logitech's somewhat flagship gamer mouse, but that thing is loaded with so many useless frills that I've really only seen it appeal to casual gamers. Serious gamers know the G500 is, hardware-wise, the same mouse, and has everything they need, so it makes no sense at all to drop  significantly more cash on a G9x - especially when that money could be better spent elsewhere.Oh, and sticking with a design very similar to the MX-500 series was a very nice touch, as again comfort is HUGE for gamers, and the MX-518 was easily the most popular for practically half a decade. Unfortunately, they messed with the mouse feet, which to casual users/gamers would seem inconsequential, but many of us prefer to replace our stock mouse feet with ultra-low friction teflon ones (for example Hyperglides). Oddly enough, something so seemingly trivial was my biggest (but really my only) actual issue with the mouse itself when I bought it.Anyways, if you're a gamer who demands a high-performance mouse without overwhelming it with pointless features and dozens of buttons, while getting great bang for your buck (unlike the absurdly priced and overall ridiculous G9x) you can't afford to skip the G500. Kind of expensive here, but pricematch it for a fantastic deal.

Cons: High pitch noise emitting from the mouse. No Mac software support, must get third party programs like USB overdrive to use custom buttons.

Pros: Comfortable, weight adjustable
Comment:
I had this mouse on my wanted list for awhile. I needed something I can use for both gaming and CADing. I had problems with wireless mouse keep disconnecting and batteries dying, especially when used with CAD and games where you do ridiculous amount of clicking. The mouse is great on all those aspects. It doesnt have as many buttons I would want it to (for macro keying), and there is no Mac support and you have to rely on programs like USB overdrive (the Windows Setpoint program sucks anyway). My only BIG issue is that it emits a high frequency noise. Some people may not be able to hear it, but I can. First, I thought my unit was defective. Instead of RMAing with NCIX (I didnt wanted to pay for extra shipping), i just contacted Logitec and after going through their customer support they sent me a new one for free without even wanting the old one back. But guess what, the second new one makes the same high pitch noise.Googling it shows that the problem is not an isolated case. Someone said it was due to the laser diode that is used which makes the noise. So now I have two mouse that makes head-piercing noise.I still use the mouse daily, but have my headphone on (even without any music playing), or otherwise get headaches for the high pitch noise.

Cons: The decal on the mouse started to fade after 2 hours of use, both where my palm rests and where I place my fingers.

Pros: Great comfortable design.Great set of features that are easy to customize in the control software.Equally reliable precision and tracking on many surfaces, including some pads my other laser gaming mice couldn't handle well.
Comment:
Good mice with only inconvenience of a fading decal to criticize :)In all a good mice with a great attention to its design and manufacturing. Although the decal on the mouse is fading rapidly I'm not all that concerned for appearances as much as performance.Perhaps future iterations could allow the mice to store more profiles and include some way to allow the user to change them with a mice button rather than going through the software.

Comment:
I bought this mouse to replace my Logitech G7 that is acting all wonky and initially, it was a crappy feel since I was accustomed to using the G7 for 2+ years, but now it feels just right. You won't regret buying this mouse.

Cons: Price is exhorbitant (NCIX Pricematch); corded; SetPoint software does not yet support Win 7 64-bit (boo! shame!); some of the buttons feel cheap (and prone to breakage).

Pros: Smart comfortable styling; good weight-regulation system; good polling rate for precision gaming; braided nylon protective sheath on USB cord (bravo! nice touch!); DPI calibration on-the-fly; another good-quality Logitech product.
Comment:
I've owned this for a little over a week now and... I like it!I also own a G7, and am replacing a much-loved (and missed) G5. This model approximates the same styling and comfort of the G5/G7 mice. The price is exhorbitant and I hate to encourage this ridiculous trend towards higher pricing... Luckily I picked it up at a great price via NCIX' Pricematch policy. Recommend you do the same.Plug & Play compatibility with Windows 7 Professional 64-bit. SetPoint software does not yet support Win 7 64-bit.

Cons: None so far

Pros: Comfortable, Precision, price point, great logitech customizable software
Comment:
I've always used Logitech products but never a laser gaming rated mouse. I've been blown away by this mouse's precision at higher DPIs. It does take something getting used too from a regular wireless laser mouse from logitech.Would recommend to anybody needs a great mouse without an infliated price.

Cons: : Build quality suffers. The mouse actually rattles so bad that it rattles when I type. It's rattling as I type this sentence and thats even sitting atop a cushy foam mouse pad. Mostly it comes from the scroll wheel which is barely attached it seems.Hyperscrolling is a blessing and a curse. Its great when it does what you want it, but the wind blowing the wrong way can send it spazzing all over the place.

Pros: Excellent precision and control, super options, super customizable, good shape (though that is subjective).Logitech customer service is amazing. You can buy any of their products with confidence that if something goes wrong, they wont mess around when it comes to repair or replacement.
Comment:
Lets face it: most gaming mice are highly flawed. all those frills and performance come at a price, and not just money wise. Still, this mouse is about the best I've used, and I dont even do much gaming.I've had to have two Logitech mice RMA'd. I keep buying them because no mouse is free from potential problems, especially performance mice, so I may as well go with a company that stands behind what they sell and makes good on the warranty. Logitech does with flying colors.I wish they would work a little at making the G500 more solid, but dollar for dollar it's still the best there is for a mouse that works excellently for both gaming and normal use.
