Got it about a year ago. Was great, when it worked properly. Clicking took a bit more effort than most other mice. Started left click double-clicking only single click by itself about a month ago, and only get worse. Firmware upgrade didn't help. Do a google search and realize I'm one of the many people having this problem.Still, worked great, looks good, nice blue glow, fast and accelerated great, lots of options to configure(that is once you get the drivers to work). I will miss this mouse. But minus one for microsoft/razer. My mx510 for five years at least still works.

got this to replace a microsoft comfort mouse. after using that and other workplace mice, let me say that the sensitivity on this is amazing and much better than those of the other mice ive used...it took me some time to get used to. one of my biggest complaints is that the mouse seems to be a bit big, and i have fairly large hands. overall, a decent mouse, but i wouldnt spend over 55 dollars for this

Cons: DOESN'T WORK.

Pros: Nice ergonomics. Looks great, feels great.
Comment:
I love this mouse. The buttons feel nice, they're responsive. The rubber-like texture on the left and right buttons give your fingers a nice grip. On top of sporting some nice ergonomics, the Habu also looks great on your desk. The Habu would be my perfect gaming or business mouse because of how comfortable it is to use. The Habu is shaped so that your palm has a nice place to rest, unlike most of the mice I've used in the past. The Habu is great.But... IT DOESN'T work! The mouse pointer on my Habu jitters. Turning down the sensitivity makes it less noticeable and actually usable. Even with the sensitivity lowered on its software, moving the mouse slowly or pixel by pixel still creates some jitters. Turning up the mouse on max sensitivity jitters so much so that it makes the mouse totally useless. Googling the Habu reveals that this mouse has had a lot of issues in the past. I'd be giving this mouse 5 stars... if it worked properly. If NCIX gave me the option to give 0 stars on this, I would. Products that don't function properly should get 0s, no matter how nice they first appear to be. (I only rated it 3 stars because it wouldn't let me rate it a 0 without an order number. I don't have it anymore)

Cons: This is a problem with every mouses, the lazer get dirty and it's hard to clean itAfter few months, the mouse is making DOUBLE-CLICK when I only do SINGLE CLICK (I got this problem with two different Habu)

Pros: Looks good2000 DPIGood priceUnlike most Razer mouses, it's not small3 years warraty from MicrosoftGood drivers and firmwareRazer technology4 programmable buttons
Comment:
As I said in the weaknesses, I got the same problem two times with two different Razer Habu, after 7-8 months, the mouse is doing double-click when I only click one time, it's getting really annoying with the time. With my second Razer Habu, I got another problem, after about 3 months, the 2 programmable buttons between the right and left buttons were sticked and I can't use them. But overall, this is an awesome gaming mouse, I really like it shape and the Habu has a nice and original look. I don't really like the other SUPER-SMALL mouses from Razer.Anyways, this mouse is a good product and I recommend it to anyone, gamer or not. I would definetly purchase again.Oh yeah, talking about the lazer hole, I have 3 cats and seriously, when some hairs goes into the lazer hole, the precision is screwed and it's hard to reach the lazer (which mean it's hard to take out the stupid hairs/dust). So if you have animals at home, good luck.

Cons: Can't turn of backlight, the scroll wheel made a squeaky sound.

Pros: Sleek, solid, can change DPI settings on the fly.
Comment:
Bought a refurb model so the scroll wheel might have been damaged before using it. Suffice it to say, this is a nice mouse. Really comfortable in my hand, looks great beside the reclusa keyboard. Plenty of configurable buttons, great sensitivity.

Pros: Good click feelVery sharp lookingVery preciseLifetime warranty (i think)
Comment:
It's a great mice; it replaces my Logitech MX518 (which is not dead yet). It's very precise, I use it on a X-Trac pad Zoom and it never skips. It looks amazing along side my Reclusa keyboard. My only concern about it is a doubleclicking issue; it always happened in the past with microsoft product; When playing some "click intensive" games like diablo 2, etc, when you single click, the mouse double click. So far it's solid; I hope it'll stay like this :)

Cons: big (like really big) weird sensitivity.

Pros: looks, lots of buttons

this mouse is huge, and my hand can barely get around it... sensitivity feels weird. But I have to say it looks alot better than in the picture. So if you're used to big and heavy mice, get this one.

Cons: Driver/Firmware/RazernessHas acceleration problems.

Pros: Looks great. Smooth pointer motion. Very High tolerance for fast movement.
Comment:
I bought this mouse to replace my over 5 year old Microsoft Intellimouse Explorer 3. The Habu caught my eye for a number of reasons. 1. It has the same shape & size as the Intellimouse Explorer 3 which is very comfortable. 2. It is a laser mouse that works on all surfaces (except glass). 3. It has a very high max speed (I would sometimes exceed the max speed of my old mouse which would result in erratic pointer movement).4. It has 7 programmable buttons.5. It is a (partially) Microsoft mouse. I have trusted Microsoft for my mice forever and require that my mice use the Windows default pointer acceleration scheme. All the Logitech mice I have used before have their own acceleration scheme which I despise. 6. It looks awesome. Duh.Unlike many people who have bought this mouse I didn't have any trouble with the driver installation. Sure it didn't work the first time, but after restarting the computer it installed no problem. That wasn't really a big deal for me. What is a big deal to me is that the Right mouse button squeaks when I press it. It is horribly annoying and makes a statement about the build quality. However, even worse than that was the broken pointer movement. With pointer acceleration turned on the mouse would snap to moving straight up/down and left/right. For example, I would try to draw a circle in paint and end up with a square every time. Also, moving the mouse diagonally would cause the pointer to either stop moving entirely or would result in a staircase pattern (the mouse moving straight up, then straight to the side, then straight up again and so on...). This was not acceptable so I called Microsoft support about it. The impaired behavior only occurred when acceleration was turned on so I am convinced that it is a driver problem but the Microsoft rep was convinced that it was a hardware problem. They sent me a replacement Habu but that didn't fix anything. The replacement didn't have squeaky buttons but it does have even more movement problems than the first one had. The second one has trouble detecting leftward movement along with the snapping to the x and y axis.I did some research and found some articles about Windows Mouse Pointer Ballistics. Using the equations in the article, I adjusted the DPI and Polling rates of the Habu so that their ratio matches that which "normal" Windows mice have and I was able to get most of the function of the mouse to work properly. If I want to use the 1000hz polling rate, then it doesn't work, but 500 seems ok. It doesn't match the default Windows acceleration that I wanted, but at least it accelerates and moves normally. If I had known about these problems I wouldn't have even considered this mouse but now it is a little late for that. I still trust Microsoft mice and was considering getting the Sidewinder for awhile, but I will shy away from Razer from now on. It seems to be the Razer mentality that pointer acceleration should not be used (proof is all over their forums) and if I contact them for assistance with their drivers (Razer makes the drivers) they never answer my questions and always refer me to Microsoft. In case you're wondering, the problem isn't my computer. I tried both my Habus in 6 different computers owned by 4 different people and they have the same problems on all of them.If you don't use Mouse acceleration then this mouse is actually really good. It has alot of nice features that really make it worth the money. However, if you're like me and require mouse acceleration then stay away. Far away...[Note: I would give this a 2/5 but since I did not buy it from NCIX it won't let me.] This review was modfied by poster @ 02-14-08 02:01 PM

Cons: My only weakness with this mouse is that it is very sensitive. Sometimes it is difficult to control on a mousepad (I have razer Mantis Control so I don't think I can blame it on a cheap mouse pad). It is difficult to move the cursor small distances as it doesn't respond to the correct direction all the time. It's difficult to explain but I doesn't discourage me from using it. It seems to work better on a hard surface rather than a soft mousepad, so I would go with something hard and not spongey.

Pros: Very comfortable. There are 4 additional buttons aside from the left, right and centre buttons that can be used to serve a variety of different functions. Personally I use the side buttons to change between DPI during games and the other two in the centre for forward and back during web surfing. The blue led glow works well and looks really great in the dark. The left and right mouse buttons have the non-slip rubber padding that Razer uses in most of their products. It is very comfortable and adds to the overall appearance of the mouse. I'm a little frustrated with the performace of this mouse at times but that may be due to the settings I am using... will explain further in weaknesses. As for the pros, excellent build, looks great, affordable and the software is easy to install and upgrade.
Comment:
Overall, I am very satisfied with my purchase and the mouse operates well under most circumstances. It feels great and the settings can be altered to your style and preferance. I would highly recommend this mouse to anyone looking to upgrade.

Cons: Refer to summary.

Pros: Refer to summary.
Comment:
I rarely comment on any products, but given the poor rating that this product has had because of poor driver & firmware execution upon its initial release, I decided to add a review. I'll start out by saying that I am a civil engineer, and I do a great deal of drafting and design at work. I am extremely picky about the mouse I use for drafting purposes, and recently (after a monitor upgrade) I went looking for a new mouse, due to the fact that at the high monitor resolution, I couldn't adjust my old optical mouse's pointer speed up fast enough to be useful for drafting. I went to a local electronics store, and picked up a wireless mouse & keyboard package from Microsoft, thinking that it would be a great thing to be wireless - what a mistake I made! I saw now that nearly every mouse manufacturer out there (I assume to keep up with their competitors) has a new side-scrolling/panning mouse wheel (that I can only assume is useless to 99.9% of the users out there) - I didn't think much of it when I purchased the package, but upon using the mouse, I realized that they made the downward click pressure of the mouse wheel much greater, to prevent accidental clicks when you use the side-scrolling feature, and it made the pan feature in AutoCAD difficult to use, and very hit and miss, as often the wheel would click into the side-pan mode instead of a down-click (useless in AutoCAD). This is absolutely horrible for AutoCAD, due to the fact that the downward center mouse click enables panning. There was also a terrible lag between clicking the pan function, and it actually enabling pan in AutoCAD - I'm sure due to the fact that they try to maximize battery life in wireless mice, so the response isn't instant as with wired mice. After 2 days of use, I promptly returned the setup. I started looking (and looking, and looking!) for a wired mouse to buy, but had a difficult time finding any good-quality wired mice without the side-scroll/pan feature. Finally, searching on an online retailer's website, I finally stumbled on Razer products, as well as the Microsoft Habu mouse (made by Razer). I passed it by previously in the store, because the packaging looked so ridiculous, and it was marketed as a gaming mouse. I figured it would be overloaded with buttons and side-scroll/pan features, being a gaming mouse. I was very wrong - I looked at the features, and noticed Razer products are absolutely no-nonsense mice - apparently they realized that 10 extra customizable buttons and side-scrolling/panning on mice are not only useless, but difficult to use and undesirable. I went to the store, clicked the display model a bit, and realized that I finally found exactly what I wanted. I read extensively about the driver/firmware problems, and I tracked down a no-fail guide to updating the firmware and software on the Habu mouse before even attempting to connect it. I downloaded the latest software from the Razer website, and installed it without any problem using the no-fail guide (see below). I started using it, and all I can say is "Wow!" All of the functionality of my old mouse, excellent wheel click pressure, instant response, excellent tracking, fully customizable sensitivity in both x and y-directions, fully customizable buttons, and sensitivity settings so high that you can make the mouse useless! (For those of you who have no idea what they mean when they talk about mouse resolution (I previously didn't understand it either, before purchasing the product) is that basically you can set this mouse to 1 of 3 different resolution settings, which sets the overall sensitivity of the mouse. You can, however, still adjust the sensitivity of the mouse at any of these 3 resolution settings, to make the mouse less sensitive, if you find the speed too fast.) The "polling rate" also has three setting, which, as far as I can tell from mouse use and reading about polling rate on the internet, adjusts the number of readings the mouse submits to the computer about position, to make the mouse pointer more accurate and smooth. (To tell you the truth, I don't see much of a perceptible change when adjusting the polling rate from the smallest setting to the highest.) The only negative on this mouse is that there are internal lights with this mouse, which I found not only tacky but distracting. You can turn them off with the Razer configurator, but the lights always turn back on after a cold start, a reboot, or return from standby. You have to reset the lights in the configurator (even though the configurator reports the lights as set to "off") every time. This was obviously a firmware or software problem, and no worries - I contacted Microsoft tech support, and they are aware of the issue. Their development team is going to fix this problem in the next driver/firmware release. I find it horrible that the truly excellent hardware was plagued by initial software/firmware problems, doing a great deal of damage to user opinion's of the product. I wish Microsoft had more thoroughly tested the software before releasing the product, but I suppose there is always pressure to deliver products to store shelves before they have undergone thorough testing. Rest assured, after applying the latest driver and firmware update, you will have an excellent mouse in your hand! Here is a summary of the online instructions for updating the software (note: this guide assumes you already have the Habu mouse installed on your system with an old version of the software - adjust the guide accordingly if you just purchased the mouse and are doing a fresh install of the latest software from the Razer website). Installation Instructions: - uninstall all Habu software (which is just the driver pack), and reboot your computer - install the latest drivers from update package downloaded from Razer's website, from a clean slate - (if you get this message) say "YES" to the windows warning about non-WHQL drivers - VERY IMPORTANT! - say "NO" to the "reboot now" option, and navigate to the firmware folder (which is part of the driver package), and install the new firmware - after the installation program reports that the firmware was successfully installed, unplug and re-plug the Habu - reboot your computer NOTE: It's very important NOT to reboot before attempting the firmware update because the operating system and the drivers see the mouse ONLY after the driver installation. After a reboot with the old firmware, the mouse was never detectable by the drivers again. It seems that the Habu drivers will only detect a mouse after a reboot with (at least) version 2.01 firmware installed.

Got it since a week. I had problems with drivers after the installation. I still have problems as the mouse keep the lights on despite I have desactivated them in the software. I found the ergonomy to be good but only for large hands (I have medium size male hands). Buttons 1 and 2 are a tiny bit hard to press. Side buttons could be a bit better placed (either too much in the front or too high). Nice looking mouse. 3,5/5 This review was modfied by poster @ 05-30-07 07:05 AM

Pros: Ergonomic, fast and smooth response, interchangeable forward-back button plate and fully configurable software.
Comment:
Slickly designed mouse that fits well in the hand and has lightening fast response if needed. Provides the standard five buttons plus two small configurable buttons set by default to raise and lower DPI on-the-fly. No side scrolling, but perfect detent on the scroll wheel and some bright blue LEDs built-in. Only trouble I had was the initial update of the mouse firmware due to poor instructions on the Razer's site. Also, the LEDs can be turned off in the config panel but they seem to always come back on after a reboot no matter how you save the profile or apply it.

Cons: earlier versions had problems, installation for some people can be difficult, buttons click into each other when you shake the mouse around

Pros: MS Intellimouse 3.0 ergonomics, 7 buttons, 2 sets of side buttons, customizeable profiles with different dpi and polling, can change sensitivity on the fly
Comment:
For fans of the intellimouse explorer 3.0, this is a nice upgrade for you. The ergos are basically the same plus you get better tracking with laser. The ergos on this mouse I find are better suited for people who like to rest their palms on the mouse. I will call them palm users. The logitech G line as well as their gaming line (MX500 series) are more suited for larger hands or people who like to move their mouse with their fingertips. I could not get comfortable with the shape of the G7, so I looked towards something similar to the IE 3.0.However, the Habu addresses both types of mouse users by offering a further set back set of side buttons that you can swap in.In any case, the earlier revisions of this mouse had an abundance of problems with drivers, the cord, and so on. Mine was manufactured in November 2006 and has had none of those reported problems. On to the features: This mouse feels very good in your hands. I find that the side buttons feel very good and are very responsive. The mouse wheel doesn't have that annoying tilt feature that is basically useless in games. It is wide and rubbery and scrolls well. The 2 main buttons are coated in a rubbery substance to improve longevity and grip. The glowpipe is also rubbery and it runs along the side of the mouse. You can upgrade the firmware as well as the drivers for this mouse, and using the driver allows you to make use of the extended features. There are 4 dpi settings and 4 polling rate settings. Depending on what type of gamer you are, you're bound to find a combination that works for you. Also, each button can be configured to do whatever you want, be it windows functions or customized in games. 5 profiles are saved onto the mouse and can be switched in order using a button on the bottom of the mouse. This is not entirely useful in game as you would have to press a button on the bottom as well as wait for it to load up. For me the swap is a bit slow to be able to have multiple setups for in game use. Because you have to scroll through the profiles in order, it doesn't make it as efficient as being able to select which profile you want to use.Overall it is a very good mouse. The black looks great and the mouse looks great on your desk. The wire is a bit stiff on the newer revisions, but if you have a way to keep it in place, it's not that big of a problem. This mouse works great with my func 1030 mouse pad. This review was modfied by poster @ 02-22-07 09:28 PM
