ADATA S599 AS599S-128GM-C 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Comment:
I am impressed. The PC (WIN XP) saw the drive "PRE FORMATTED". I was going to format it. That was not required. This drive is Quicker than my VELOCIRAPTOR. Did I say it is SILENT ? ZERO noise. As per OCZ, the holding bracket is not developed for butting holding screws UNDER the bay tray. So I improvized with a tiny metallic clamp and 4 tiny rubber bands. This unit replaces an SEAGATE HYBRID 320GB drive that dont operate well. I returned mine. Yes, the new hybrid drives have far more GB per dollar. But seriously, they dont transfer faster. And I had a lot of unexpected WIN XP difficulties.SKIP the hybrids, get a Velociraptor ྪ,000 RPM) or a quickly SSD. Forget about the Hybrids; a very good concept with a bad implementation. The hybrids do perform for some folks, not for me. P.S. I build my own computers from parts.

ADATA S599 AS599S-128GM-C 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Comment:
Extremely fast. Silent. Supports TRIM. Usable size. Contains a 3-1ǘ" mounting frame and screws. Still pricey. Included frame threaded on the sides, not the bottom, so I could not secure it in the drive tray of an Antec Sonata III. Drive is too light to ding an egg for the con; it just sits in the tray just fine. This machine is virtually by no means moved.Employed to upgrade my wife's Computer from XP to 7. Definitely flies, and has created her Computer considerably much more responsive.

ADATA S599 AS599S-128GM-C 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Comment:
The drive was simple to install. I decided on a clean install of the OS and all my apps and the reward was substantial. Boot times went from over two minutes to much less than 45 seconds on my i7 notebook. Recovery from sleep mode takes four seconds! Workplace 2010 apps load instantly and HD video processing is tremendously improved. Powerful set of apps and Windows 7 left over 75GB of cost-free space. The drive fails to report accessible when my notebook powers on requiring a <ctrl><Alt><Delete> to boot off the SSD. This may well be an issue with my notebook bios as a lot as the drive itself.

I'm sure it is fast... if it works I received mine and did my finest to get it to function. It did not show on bios or boot for a though, then finally, it showed up, but once i began to write to it, the drive would shut down right after ten-15 min of writing. Now, it will not show on bios or boot at all. I will replace through Newegg RMA to see if I can get a working one.

Comment:
- Superior price to size ratio- It's fast. I mean, like Actually fast. We're talking boot instances of around 20 seconds.- The entire package (including the three.five" bracket that comes with it) is incredibly tiny.- A-Data even contains machine screws for not only the drive, but the two.5 to 3.five adapter too. - Not really a con, but there's no firmware updates offered yet on A-Data's site (and I'll clarify why I was searching for one shortly).(the following are not con's, but I ran out of space for almost everything below in the "Other thoughts" field)I just upgraded my SSD from an old 64GB Kingston SSD (that was SATA1 and had no TRIM assistance) to this drive. I couldn't be happier! I personally am not getting the advertised speeds, but I'm fairly certain I know why although. I utilized Acronis to clone my old SSD's information to this drive instead of performing a fresh install, which may possibly account for the slight loss in speed. Besides that, for some cause, this drive doesn't seem to like the SATAII controller on my motherboard if I use the maufacturer's driver (I'm using an Nforce 980a based AMD AM3 motherboard). The drive nonetheless screams utilizing the default Microsoft AHCI driver, but I wish I could get Nvidia's AHCI driver to function without blue-screening on startup. The driver did work with my older SSD although, so that's why I went looking for an updated firmware for this SSD. I won't knock an egg off though given that the drive is brand new, so I honestly didn't anticipate an updated firmware so soon. Hopefully ADATA updates the firmware and the NForce drivers then like the drive so I can get max speed from it.It's still a wonderful drive though and it tears by way of every little thing I've thrown at it (albeit gimped slightly by my controller). Even on this controller I get a WEI of 7.7! I'll undoubtedly be obtaining a lot more ADATA SSD's!

Fast data transfers. A single SSD scored much better than a raid of four 7200rpm difficult drives. I raid two of these in a MacBook. Extremely really rapidly, program load times are almost instantaneous. Lower power consumption than stock spinning difficult drive. Expensive, draws a lot more power than other SSDs. Works nicely with Mac, and Windows.

It was super rapidly whilst it worked About 3 weeks in I was getting random reboot concerns and it would come up with no os drive detected error. A energy down and energy up would make it come back and function for awhile. At a month it lastly died for great. Emailed the manufacturer, by no means got a reply. Cant RMA via newegg, so I guess I blew 赼 on absolutely nothing. Manufacturer Response:Dear Customer, we are sorry that you have had difficulties with our product. ADATA S599 AS599S-128GM-C 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Comment:
I lately submitted a review for the 256GB version of this SSD. I liked it so a great deal in my laptop that I bought two of these 128GB SSDs for use in my new I7 Desktop system and I7 Media Center in my living room. I utilised them for the OS drive and used two 2TB drives in a RAID1 setup for information storage. Each systems are absolute speed demons - I couldn't be more pleased! The ATTO Disk Benchmark shows these drives carry out at their advertised speeds. The Sandforce chipset genuinely delivers! None other than price - like my evaluation on the 256GB drive, these drives really are a terrific deal for the dollars vs. the performance they deliver. This SSD is a worthy upgrade, I extremely recommend it! Also, the recent firmware update released 1ǚ񳏋 from three.1. to 3.four.6 was a bit quirky in the sense that you run the firmware update inside Windows (Windows 7 x64 in my case) and you fundamentally wait for the system to restart on its own. I have two systems with these drives, 1 eventually froze following the update and received a BSOD, though the other system restarted as it was supposed to after the firmware update. For the BSOD program, I had to manually power the machine off and turn it back on once again. Thankfully on each systems it all went down with no data loss or lengthy backup/restore operations. I'm incredibly happy.

Comment:
Much less high priced than comparable SSDs from other brands, I hope I won't regret that, but I had excellent luck with A-Information RAM. Much faster (when performing benchmarks) than my old generation SSDs and lastly, I have TRIM support. It comes with a three.five" adapter bracket. I'm only finding 230MB/s writes and 250MB/s reads on Intel ICH10 controller. A bit lower than the advertised 270뢰MB/s speeds. Possibly it's the controller, my mobo is now additional than two years old. Honestly, I can't tell considerably difference in my PC actual-life performance right after replacing my old OCZ Apex SSDs with these :) In ATTO and HD Tune benchmarks they're significantly quicker, but it's tough to tell a distinction under normal use. The key reason to get these was to have TRIM support, but I was hoping for a little increase too. Yeah, maybe it's time for a new mobo :) Gigabyte GA-EX58-UD5 mobo, Intel Core i7 940, 12GB RAM.

ADATA S599 AS599S-128GM-C 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)
Comment:
This is my very first SSD and my decision was based on a replacing my existing laptop for a new 1. What a difference! Laptop responds a lot quicker and take fulls advantage of the additional money spent on a very quickly processer and ram about a year ago. There is no way a new laptop would perform any far better unless I ordered it with a SSD. Bottome line the common laptop harddrive is the weakest link in most modern day laptops. Very wise investment. None. I have sense purchased 1 additional for a destop (xeon workstation). Looked at OCZ 3.5 inch drives but their memory switch was a cause of concern. My observations are this. In a desktop I observed only a marginal difference versus a conventional harddrive RAID setup. For a desktop the ideal choice may well be SSD in PCI-Express format if one's motherboard/bios recognized it.

Comment:
Initial install of the OS was fine. Worked appropriate out of the box. Also tested on Windows 7 laptop and this drive is amazingly quick. I would recommend it if you're moving up to an SSD for the 1st time. I bought a couple from OCZ and ADATA appears to be excellent in comparison to them. That read/write 280뢦, was questioning what take place to the 5. Really don't see myself stressing this drive out as it boots Snow Leopard rather rapidly and shuts down immediately like flipping the "off" switch. Really like it. Come on prices! Lets see them come down lower this next year. Very good job Newegg with the sales and prices. Did I mention how significantly I hate rebates? Why? Please let there be a way for us to opt out and just purchase these ssds without having having to wait for an eternity for the rebates to get back to us.

ADATA S599 AS599S-128GM-C 2.5" Internal Solid State Drive (SSD)

Cons: Needs to have firmware update  before use.

Pros: FAST, This makes a great laptop drive. 7.5 WEI
Comment:
I am very impressed with the performance of this drive. Subjectively I have noticed a vast improvement in boot time and installation of software from mounted ISO's on my Acer 7551G. Scored a 7.5 out of 7.9 on Windows Experience Index. Make sure that you are in AHCI mode and that you update  the firmware from ADATA website before installing windows.
