Didn't have any need to play about with settings when I installed this 4 months ago, but at stock voltage and only rising the multiplier I am now operating day-to-day at four.two GHz as a dual core with an OCZ Gladiator cooler ࿼mm fan) consuming 88 watts max, 42 watts for common loads. It won't boot if I boost to four.four GHz. Simply unlocked other two cores and can run as a B40 x4 at 4.two GHz also, but CPUID shows some high wattage numbers and I have no true need to have for that substantially extra CPU muscle...so am staying secure as a 555 x2 at 4.two GHz. Individual core temperature sensors go dumb when the 555 is unlocked to three or 4 cores, but overall temps are fine nonetheless, so no difficulties there. Wattage jumps up and at 148 indicated exceeds the 125 watt stated design limit of my GigaByte GA-880GA-UD3H mobo, so I'm playing it safe as an overclocked x2. When the time comes that I am seriously taking into consideration a technique upgrade, just for entertaining I will probably push all the elements to the max devoid of concern of destroying anything. For my current house non-gaming and non-engineering uses, this CPU exceeds my expectations in just about every way!

Super simple to install in an AMD motherboard. Just line up the arrows and gently drop it into spot. This undesirable boy unlocked all 4 cores proper out of the box utilizing the issue bios F8. Since unlocking can be a hit and miss situation, I did my analysis and with with the Gigabyte GA-MA770T-UD3 motherboard. Talk about spending budget friendly super computer! :DDid not even bother to use the factory heatsink/fan b/c commonsense will tell you, it aint gonna reduce it. Paired it with an aftermarket 30 to 35 dollar heatsink and the cpu temps don't even run go above 35 degrees when operating Rift at maximum settings. NONE what so ever. I mean its a dual core at a dual core cost, unlocked to quad core! Make positive when you obtain this processor that if you are arranging on unlocking it, do your analysis and come across out what motherboards can unlock it.

Definitely no problems. Came with it's own cpu cooler, but it looked rather inadequate for the job, so I purchased a 92mm cpu cooler. Then I unlocked it to a quad core using the MSI 870-G45 mobo with no effort. Shows up in windows 7 method as a phenom II x4 B55. None. None.

Good price range processor, comes with stock cooler and fan, constructed on the Daneb die set so it has four cores with two of them locked. I advise receiving an ASUS m4a88t-v motherboard for any individual that is not familiar with core unlocking. Just leave all the values on auto and run core unlocker and I had 100% results on the initially shot unlocking all 4 cores. (Disclaimer: there is essentially a 1 in three chance you will have 4 usable cores, read cons for a lot more information) Due to the fact it is three.2 ghz out of the box, there is tiny want for overclocking unless you are an enthusiast. Due to the fact it is essentially a Daneb core processor that has two locked cores, there are a couple of drawbacks. The genuine main drawback is if you unlock any added cores, you can not monitor temperature for the processor. That's not genuinely an situation but it is a nice feature to have. I just left the side of my case open and verify the stock cooler with the back of my finger sometimes. The cooler has stayed cool and I have been operating this issue non stop for 3 days now. Also due to the fact it has two cores unlocked, you have a 1 in three opportunity of essentially unlocking all 4 cores, for those who are not familiar with locked cores, this processor is fundamentally a quad core that had difficulties with two of the cores for the duration of production, so those cores were locked and had some attributes removed, (temp sensor, and so on) The Pros far outweigh the cons for the processor, I would certainly propose it to any person that can not afford the quad core Daneb processor but desires the functionality. (Note: If you intend on acquiring this for quad core, remember two items, 1. it is a crapshoot if you truly will get two functional cores, two. If you choose to try this, obtain a motherboard that has at least 125 watt capability.) Purpose for this is that as quickly as you unlock all four cores, the wattage requirement goes up and it registers as a Phenom B55, and requries at least 125w to run or it will burn up your motherboard. Just wanted to give individuals enough info to make a excellent acquire, and in my opinion this is definitely it.

I've been reading about this CPU for a whilst now and how the additional cores were unlockable. So I purchased this CPU and an MSI board that had the core unlocker function. It worked! The board unlocked the further cores but as quickly as it did, the heatsink fan went from extremely quiet to quite loud. Not a major enough heatsink for unlocking and overclocking. AMD should know that people only get the "Black Edition" CPUs to over power them, so they need to know to put a bigger heatsink that can deal with the further loads. I can't use these high energy features until I get a bigger heatsink. I possibly shouldn't have bought this CPU in the first location. I was attempting to do an low-cost but nice HTPC and an HTPC seriously doesn't require a quad core running at four.0ghz. I consider it was just a guy/nerd ego point to acquire this CPU.

Strong as a rock as a dual core, chugging along at what ever I throw towards itBlack Edition; it's like a lottery, but these Callisto chips have a tendency to spend off in a shower of amazing overclocking goodness - if you have the proper motherboard and cooling, this is possibly the tiny chip that could. 5 minutes in the bios settings + 1 Zalman CPU cooler = Quad core, for dual price. Saved me 40 bucks, and time, that will go towards a hexacore! Not each and every CPU that you get, will unlock to a stable X4, or X3; so if it doesn't unlock for you, don't be too upset - it still does what it's supposed to with two cores.

You get a 3.2GHz two core chip that will handle almost anything you want to do with it. You also have a chance to unlock 1 or two additional cores! If you want to unlock cores or overclock, obtain an additional heatsink. The one particular that comes with this cpu can handle 2 or 3 cores pretty properly, or a moddest overclock of voltage and cpu frequency, but if you get it to unlock to an X4, I do not reccomend overclocking on this heatsink. Now on to the good stuff. I unlocked all cores. I am 1 of the fortunate ones. I have a Scythe Mugen 2 Rev. B with two 120mm Scythe SY1225SL 12SH's setup to push/pull. I have a cheap 4Ư phase Gigabyte GA-MA780GM-US2H Rev. 1.1. I did restricted X4 testing due to the inexpensive energy configuration of my motherboard. Unlockable cores. It's under 贄. The heatsink is the most dismal factor I've ever noticed. I've noticed beefier pocket fans. This is my 3rd develop, and I decided to save some money. Operating a X6 1000T at operate which clocks slightly quicker (with the addition of two additional cores mind you). So far, small noticeable difference aside from you know, 赀 more dollars. Will be OC'ing shortly. My board offers core-unlocking which I'd strongly advise for a fresh develop. It's a ASUS M4A87TD EVO, and it unlocked the second two cores with the flip of a switch (literally) on the extremely 1st boot. Running smoothly ever since.

Worked very good out of the box. Glad I was in a position to activate all 4 cores. Can't beat the price tag. Was running this chip as a temporary replacement for a Phenon 965. It ran great for more than a month, then earlier this week my screen abruptly went blank and I had to reboot. A single of the cores failed and left me running on three cores. I went into the bios and turned the core back on and when I F10 to save and exit, the computer shut down.Noticeable functionality reduction when the core failed. I am told that these chips are manufactured as 4 core chips but fail inspection and testing at the manufacture so they have two cores disabled and are sold at a low value. If you activate the other two cores, they could be defective and fail some time in the future as mine did. It's just luck if you get a good a single.I place the Phenom 965 back in and it runs circles around this chip soon after the core failed in it.I do have a very good back-up chip on hand with the Phenom 555. Might use it for yet another make for the children.

Simply unlocks to a quad-core. 3.2GHz (which can be quickly OC'd) and it's โ more affordable than the 955 (which is basically the identical factor..) It incorporates the most dismal heat-sink I've ever noticed. I've come across much more substantial ŭ pocket fans before.. After the third and fourth cores have been unlocked you can no longer get precise CPU temperature readings. When paired with a motherboard that delivers "core-unlocking" you can't loose. This is mounted on a ASUS M4A87TD EVO and actually unlocked the cores at a flip of a switch. Initial boot, no troubles. This was for my 3rd develop. I'm operating a Phenom II X6 1100T at perform and as a result far I haven't noticed any substantial difference in efficiency. (Aside from you know, an extra 贶..) Rendering times are obviously quicker with the latter, but not by much.

As a dual core, it runs Very cool. Slapped a Hyper 212 on it in Push/Pull and it sits at room temperature at idle. Broke 25C beneath full load. None so far. This is day 1 though. I got lucky. Mine unlocked into a quad. Bumped the multiplier up to 20 and I have a 4GHz quad core that doesn't break 40C below complete load and stays around 30C below gaming load. Cheapy MSI Motherboard with a Hyper 212 in Push/Pull. Good replacement for my Q6600 that got eaten when my PSU failed and took every little thing with it.
