AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:very loud stock heatsink fanruns pretty hot

Pros:great speedgreat price
Comment:
runs beautifully and great deal at a ~$100-$110. Even though it's the 125w version it still runs pretty hot. Mine idles at about 33c and that's only with Cool'n'Quiet turned on (which lowers the voltage/speed when it's not being used.) Turning that off makes it idle at around 40c. Stress tests had it topping off at ~56c which isn't terrible. I'm not an overclocker though and I'm not interested in pushing my system to its limit. I like it in a safe range. My last processor was an Athlon II X4 635 2.9ghz and it idles at 20c and tops off at 60.Also, the fan is bloody loud! If you plan on sleeping anywhere near this thing I suggest getting software or using the BIOS settings or a fan controller to lower the speed of it when its idling. It's not just loud, it's high pitched, and I imagine could get mighty irritating after a long period. This review was modfied by poster @ 07-16-12 01:03 AM

I consider this the cpu to get if you want a gaming rig for a budget price. It's not the fastest cpu around but it gets the job done.

Comment:
Wonderful cpu! no want for a lot more than this, I am mostly a gamer and have had absolutely no cause to overclock. The only con would be the loud fan. While my opinion could be a small biased getting that my case is raised up high and at ear level. The volume of the fan can get annoying when cranking but it does its job and my program idles between 29°c-38°c based on outdoors temp. And in the course of games has never exceeded 52°c. I bought this being aware of that AMD is good about keeping their sockets the identical or at least compatible with future socket forms. Intel would be a good selection but at the time when i purchased AMD had the superior price tag and socket:upgrade reliability.

It's fantastic. The cpu fan that comes with this is way too smaller. Get a greater one. I got the bundle with an XFX 5770 video card, and I am content.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:125w power suckerstock fan is crap.high vcore default on motherboards.Slower then Intel CPUs in its speed category.

Pros:Price! Best bang for the buck.Fast 3.4GHz CPU.Allows to buy cheaper AMD chipset motherboards.Great overclocker on air (4.0GHz reports) and even better on water.
Comment:
I bought this CPU because of the price and because of the cheaper motherboards. Intel may be a better CPU but it costs more to buy their CPU and costs more to buy their Intel chipset motherboards. I was going for a best bang for the buck and this CPU does everything I need perfectly fine. I do not like that its a power hunger CPU and does run hotter because of that. Its older tech but it works.Would I purchase again? I'm not sure, at this moment maybe but I might just save for a cheap Intel 2500k for $185. Everyone has different needs. I wanted a cheap CPU and motherboard to get me up and running again and didn't want to pay the Intel prices.

Pros:Solid CPU, good price for the performance. 64bit.
Comment:
A solid performing CPU, great for office desktop systems with plenty of performance for day to day as well as some after hours games if you desire. The included heatsink isn't great, but works well enough if you aren't doing any overclocking. A good overclocking processor with the right mainboard and memory. A good deal all around!

Cons:-Powersucker-Not amazing

Pros:-Easy overclock-Fast-cheapruns pretty cool even with stock cooler
Comment:
This processor is awesome. I have it in my gaming rig and it doesn't let me down one bit. Also it is easy to overclock and runs pretty cool with stock cooler (as long as you don't OC). It is a power sucker though so make sure you have a decent sized psu. Also it isnt as good as the i3 in dual core apps until it is OC a little.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:- stock cooler is noisy. It will work if you plan to just do a light overclock, but anything more requires a better CPU cooler.

Pros:- AMD Phenom II is their best product ever- Easy to overclock, unlocked multiplier- true fast quad-core clocks
Comment:
A great processor. One of the best bang for buck out there. It completes with Intel's i3s (same price range). It might fall short right now, but it's multi-core feature will definitely shine when programs and applications start to utilize that.

Comment:
- Great item by AMD. A CPU that is competitively priced against even Intel's most potent CPU's. Price tag/performance, it can not be beat especially for the gamer on the budget. But this is no spending budget CPU. This is a titan CPU that will manage most GPU's thrown at it.- I have it OC'ed @ 4.0Ghz. Overclocked with ease and handles my GTX 580 with no concerns- I had a GTX 460 1GB sli setup at a single point and this CPU handled the two GPU's with extremely small bottleneck. Ran games like Crysis, Crysis Warhead, and Crysis two with extremely good efficiency. Crysis 2 ran at 60fps with no a hitch at 1920x1200 resolution, extreme settings- Is amazingly cool. Idles at 32c @ four.0Ghz with my Coolermaster Hyper 212+ aftermarket CPU cooler- effortless to overclock, just up the multiplier and you're great to go.- This is much better than the 955 BE no matter what any individual says. Spend small added $ and get the 965 BE instead. - Very best price/performance subsequent to the 955 BE in the AMD line up. NONE whatsoever. Obtain it.- It could not be as powerful as Intel's CPU's i7 9xx and Sandy Bridge but when overclocked, it barely bottlenecks even the most potent GPUs like the GTX 580. I would know, I have a GTX 580, and I had GTX 460 1gb SLi at one point in ownership.- AMD phenom x4 955 and 965's cost/performance is unmatched in its competitive bracket. If you're seeking to primarily game, then just purchase this CPU as an alternative. It gets the job carried out in particular if you Overclock.- These negative boys have a lot of headroom to overclock, you will get up to 4.-four.2ghz with a fantastic aftermarket cooler with ease!- knowledge really small bottleneck even with a high-end GPU, or sli/crossfireX setup.- Very trustworthy! Trustworthy as Intel CPU's so don't listen to individuals who argue otherwise! My specs:AMD Phenom x4 965 BE @ 3.8 Ghz, Asus EVO SLi Mobo, CM Hyper 212+, G.Skill Ripjaws DDR3 7-7-7-21, Galaxy GTX 580, Corsair TX 750 PSU, Western Digital 640GB, Samsung Spinpoint F3 1TB, Asus DVD drive, HAF 932 Black Edition, Asus 26" 1920x1200 res monitor. Ran games beautifully when it was operating. Triggered Call of Duty Black Ops, Rift, Dragon Age II and other games to regularly crash to desktop. I put my old Phenom II X2 back in my Computer and the crashes went away, so I know it was the CPU. I was dumb adequate to not hold original packaging, so I'm stuck unable to get a replacement.
