AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Comment:
Excellent CPU, I enjoy it, I employed Intel all my life, but for my very first custom construct, I wanted to try an AMD CPU. I favor this over any Intel Core two Quad, its reasonably priced and its fast. The Heatsink is decent, it keeps my CPU at around 30C, but the thermal paste is really sticky, when your get the heatsink on, you pretty considerably have your cpu stuck on there. I tried to replace the stock one particular, but when i pulled the heatsink off, the CPU came off also! The cpu was nonetheless stuck on the paste, it took me alot of time and effort to take it off, only to find out that 1 row of pins were bent, i meticulously tried to bend them back and at present, they are operating, i am worried that the cpu will die after a though. :/ I very advocate you wipe the thermal paste off and apply your personal before you install the heatsink.

Cons:Stock cooler

Pros:Price, performance for the price
Comment:
For the price point, this CPU is a good buy. The Stock cooler does it's job, but it's loud and the an rattles sometimes. Nothing wrong with the CPU, I would recommend an aftermarket cooler though. Solid little chip.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Comment:
This is a rapid processor that any daily home user / gamer will adore . No want for a 6 core unless your wanting to brag ,otherwise you'll under no circumstances use this to its full potential, let alone a 6 core with Windows 7 32 or 64 bit . OverClocks nicely with a good aftermarket cooler . AMD client service is top rated notch (see other thoughts) and just as very good if not better than NewEgg and that is saying a thing ,as NewEgg has the finest retail customer service period ! Runs warm , not overbearable or dangerous hot , but definetly warm . 125watt so if your gonna buy a descent video card to go with this CPU your gonna will need a fantastic energy supply, like a quality 500 watt or better (not a cheapo 500w) Corsair , other wise if your gonna get a cheapo brand you'll invest the exact same cash as a Corsair 500w and require a 700w to match the same output as a 500w Corsair . AMD client service is unbelievable ! I fried my original 965 OverClocking when I got a small crazy with the voltage Ƒ.75v 1.325 is stock volts) on a subpar air cooler . I called AMD told them CPU died , they asked me why I thought it was dead , I told them that it would not post in 2 unique identified working AM3 965 compatible MSI motherboards , and within five minutes received e-mail with cost-free 2 day Fed ex shipping label to return to AMD , in June of 2010 . But it gets even superior ! I misplaced the CPU and didn't come across it till I was undertaking some spring cleaning in early March 2011 . So I sent it in and checked the RMA status and it said expired ( rut roh !). So referred to as AMD explained that I misplaced it . Incredibly great man says we at AMD recognize points take place and got e mail inside the hour saying RMA re-opened and awaiting return . Sent on a Thursday AMD received on Mon. new CPU at my door on Wed. Now thats Excellent SERVICE ! Only essential to send CPU ,and got new Heatsink and CPU. Go AMD !

I don't know if it works or not. Bought this factor with an Asus mother board to set up with each other at the same time. Mother board would light up and seemed to be juice flowing through it , yet the darn issue would not post. I am going to RMA this and that asus mother board. Hope that subsequent time about I have much better luck.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:None yet.

Pros:Unlocked multiplier. Good base speed. L3 cache can make a huge difference over Athlon processors. tomshardware results show that 4 cores are better than 6.
Comment:
Just started overclocking. I've done nothing but turn up the multiplier, and it went from the base 3.4GHz to 4.0GHz with no voltage changes, no FSB/RAM changes, whatsoever. I'm going to keep working just for fun, but in just twenty minutes I found the stable max, without changing voltage, to get a 17% boost. Highly recommend.

Good overall performance for the cash. No complications as of this date and have been working with this processor for over a year. Seriously? This form field be removed for this item! No cons right here. Intel guys: Yea you have the fastest processor on the industry today but guess what? AMD comes extremely close to you and for twoǙ of the cost I will take it any day! So if you want my biz lower your value. I will be upgrading to the AMD Phenom II X6 1100T Black Edition. Thanks Newegg for your great service.

This has bin around for a while now but for what I can do with it ,it should serve me well for a fairly long time as I realy only do light gaming with this. I teamed it with an Asus Matx M5A88-M MB 8 gig's of Kingston Hyperx 1600 ram, ZFX HD 6670, creative sound blaster X-FI sound card and the Zalmon CNPS9500A LED cooler. It's used as a second system in our house mostly by my wife for music and videos, which it does really well. Couldn't be more pleased with it ,very fast setup.

Cons:First sample was defective

Pros:Fast. Good value.
Comment:
I'm quite happy with the CPU when it's working. The first one was defective and wouldn't recognize a full 8 GB of RAM and behaved very strangely. Although I was pretty certain the trouble laid with the CPU I had to haul my PC from Surrey to Aberdeen to get an NCIX tech to check it out. He was very good, and he promptly confirmed my suspicions. I've used AMD CPUs for years and this was the first time I ever had a bad one.

Runs cool and rapid. Stable Overclock at three.9 Ghz. Could most likely go higher but I'm content with it as is. It isn't self conscious. Possibly that's a pro. Employing a XIGMATEK HDT-S1284F cooler. Enormous heatsink, but its incredibly quiet. Mobo - ASUS M4A88TD-V EVO/USB3 880G R

I have tested a lot of unique versions and combinations of CPUs motherboards and memory. I love this CPU so far, my 1st quad-core was a Dual processor Dual Core Opteron workstation 2.2GHz and I loved it, I transform it simply because a motherboard issue with the SLI and I bought the Phenom II X4 940 and then the Phenom II X4 965, also tested along the road, Phenom II X4 920, Phenom X4 2.3GHz Black Edition, and one more Phenom X4 2.6GHz… from all of them the 1 that I have been able to squeeze much more juice is this one particular. From three.4GHz I have been in a position to more than clock it with stock fan at 3.8GHz stable. I don’t have AC and I reside in a hot spot so almost certainly someone in USA could attain far better outcomes. At 3.8GHz I was in a position to play Battlefield Undesirable Firm two and my highest temp was 69ºC throughout the loadings exactly where I think the game is much more demanding. After the loadings it went back to 56 ºC ㅶ ºC. I was expecting it to hit the 70 ºC and turn off but in no way happened. None so far about efficiency, but yes when it gets hot the fan is noisy. I have applied some different approaches for cooling… from stock heat sink and fan to water cooling and custom heat sinks and fans from diverse vendors. The far more I attempt anything new, the a lot more I like the stock heat sink and fan. I thought this was going to be the highest a single accessible and for my surprise they released the Phenom II X4 970 and 975, but I don’t feel like needing it. For individuals hunting for performance, be certain you are hunting for the correct issues. Just about every want is peculiar to the owner of the Pc so what operates for someone may well not perform for other individuals.

This things an absolute Power Home for such a modest price. Operating on an asus M378EM with a slight OC @ 3800 mhz. I just did a fresh Win7 install. Reinstalling all of my old software program / programs I had Oprea, E Explorer open and downloading from each browsers, the dvd rom installing Adobe Creative suite, and often up to three smaller sized installs from the browser running at the very same time plus anything else going on... This AMD 965 just laughed as it barley ever broke 20-30% usage during the four hours + that this went on for. No matter what I threw at it, it just kept pounding away with out a hiccup. It runs in my case at 43-44c idle - 55 load. None... It likes to run games fast as well. :DI use my machine as a heavy gaming and heavy operate load process, stuff like Photoshop, and 3ds Max and so on. No matter if I'm gaming, or operating this CPU delivers.

OC's stable with stock fan to four.2, toned it back to three.8 just to be on the secure side til I splurge on a cooling system. 3.8 doesn't bottleneck my GPU on any of the games I've attempted it with but, either. Quite cheap for the performance, too. None. Had to switch from a 750W Corsair PSU to a 600W >.> didn't notice any drop in performance on the chip, nonetheless.

I adore this processor, runs smooth, loads anything swiftly and processes media files in a flash. Overclocked the last a single to 4Ghz by basically changing the FSB to 220 and multi to 18! Fan doesnt have an AMD/Phenom sticker on it like my athlon II x4 did :( Very best processor you can get for 赀 by far!

This CPU is rapidly, and for the price tag, you can not beat it. Save yourself the trouble and just acquire this. It's not like Intel, these chips are all Extremely overclockable. I've had this CPU up and operating at 6.44Ghz on Dry ICE cooling. Yeah, I know this voids warranty. It's fine with me.Black Edition is great, the unlocked multiplier makes overclocking incredibly straightforward for beginners and us advanced overclockers.Slapped this poor boy in a M4N98TD EVO (one of the Few remaining AMD SLI motherboards) and couldn't of been happier. Operating 2xGTX570s.Couldn't ask for additional from this CPU. I confident can't believe of any. If you're into the enthusiast laptop or computer market, this CPU will NOT dissappoint one particular bit.

I've generally built my machines with AMD... Not because they're more affordable in cost than Intel, but since they execute as they are suppose to.In most case where you will benefit from Intel, is in particular application i.e. Adobe that cater to Intel chipset as effectively as some other applications. Some say that AMD runs hotter, but any processor runs hot.... so acquire a fantastic cooler. You're obtaining the exact same about of cores and speed for less expensive....Go AMD! None. If you go AMD... It's incredibly significant to keep the identical chipset for video card... I.E. AMD processor, Radeon Video Card, NOT Nvidia.....

My 1st create. Really like it. Paired it with a ASUS motherboard that has a "auto tune" feature that put this cpu @ three.78ghz with stock fan. Price tag is half of what the intel expense. I dont know why on earth men and women pay twice as considerably for an intel "sandy bridge". With this AMD the internet and aps pop up as soon as I click them. This cpu runs CoD Black ops like a dream.. DONT listen to the intel sandy bridge fanboys. no cons.
