Wow, wow, wow. Upgraded to this baby from an athlon II x2. What a difference! It's like lightning speed now and my games enjoy it. Thanks Newegg, for the deal of 20 bucks off the purchase! Easiest instal ever, too! None. I believed the fan was going to be loud, but it's fine. I'm guessing it's only loud when folks overclock their setups.

Received it on day promised Opened the box and heard something hit the floor. Went to install it and discovered one of the pins was broken Newegg responded rapidly with an RMA, but had to argue about return UPS charges for a defective item. They paid for the UPS back to them.

Exceptional processor. AMD has actually made efficiency power accessible at a fair price. Solid efficiency, not too hot and OC's well. Get a great case if you are going to push it though. Ventilation is key to these chips lifespan. None so far I enjoy high end Intel's for my individual machines but if you aren't going for high finish bleeding edge, why spend the premium?

This thing is smoking rapid, and for 贶 the price could not be beat. None. I upgraded from a Phenom X4 9550, and boy let me tell ya this is a Large improvement. In most games I've noticed about a 20-50 FPS enhance. I only wish I would of identified my motherboard would support the Phenom II X6 processors prior to I bought this, yet another โ for much more cores would be worth the funds if your technique will assistance it.

Cons:Stock heat sink may not be adequate for all users.

Pros:Big performance boost from Phenom X3 CPUGood price on weekly special
Comment:
Installed on MSI motherboard. Runs ~45 degrees with Coolermaster Hyper 212 Plus Direct Touch 4 Heatpipe Heatsink at 0 to 800 RPM. At CPU idle the case fan running at about 750 RPM moves enough air that the CPU fan shuts off. Makes for a quiet system.

be is amazing overclockable to the max quad core. screaming efficiency. paired with an asus m4a79xtd evo motherboard, which is a very good mixture together. significantly less expensive than most intel quad core method that matches it in performance. the involve cpu heatsink isn't wonderful for overclockers. i have the 140w version. which is no large deal but runs hot with stock heatsink. my system specs:-asus m4a79xtd evo-amd phenom ii x4 965 be-two sapphire radeon 5750 1gb pci-e-hitachi deskstar 1tb 7200rpm hdd-8gb ocz gold edition ddr3 1600-nzxt zero 2 -7 120mm fans two 80mm fans-liteon dvd player and dvd r/rw-nzxt sentry lcd fan controller-coolmax cug-950b modular psu-windows 7 home premium 64 bit oem

Pros:- nice price

I have had this CPU for just over a year now, works awesome. Haven't had a single problem yet. Although this is isn't as good performance wise as the i5-2500k or similar, for the price this is the best bang for your buck. Can still handle current games just fine.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Comment:
I'm a gamer with a spending budget. Usually have been. I was pleased to be in a position to acquire this chip in December of ཅ at a decent cost, because it was fairly close to top of the line at the time (i-core chips had just launched ad were way out of MY price-range). I normally can't acquire items that are "pretty close". I plugged it in simultaenously with a brand new Geforce 9800 GT and I ran every little thing on max for practically a year. Factors slowed down a little bit in the second half of 2010, but anything was still running nicely and seeking excellent with medium-to-high detail for a trustworthy 25-40 FPS. Lately, I suspected and confirmed that the slow down was not the chip's fault. Almost two years later, I don't feel I'll have to upgrade again quite soon as I've stuck in a 460 GTX and everything is once once more operating maxed at 60 FPS. This chip is shaping up to have the longest run in any of my spending budget systems but. Certainly has run cool and stable this whole time. None identified so far. I'd still suggest buying this chip, even these days. You'll get good bang for your buck. If you get a great GPU, you should be in a position to run everything that's out there on MAX or close to it with 60 FPS.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:Aging

Pros:Great overclocker on air, fast
Comment:
I can safely overclock to 4Ghz on air with the Vcore at 1.45-46. It might be worth getting the newer Bulldozer or the i5-2500k to futureproof your system. But if you are in a pinch, this will work fine to run your gaming system. It will probably bottleneck GTX 570 and higher cards. But not by that much.

Easily overclockable, uncomplicated to install, really dependable. Common AMD high excellent! I've had this processor for over a year and it's Still 1 of the very best about. Unlocked multiplier makes OCing straightforward if you have a good heatsink. I've constantly had AMD and I often will... by far the best bang for your buck! Ummm... It's not Bulldozer? Seriously, although, this chip rocks.

AMD Phenom II X4 965 Black Edition 3.4GHz Socket AM3 125W Quad-Core Processor
Cons:None so far

Pros:OC'd nicely
Comment:
I have the ASUS M5A99X Evo and have just OC'd to 3944mhz from 3.4 with the stock cooler, it's running about 43 degrees at the moment and run perfect. Looking online this CPU can get to 60 before having issues, so I think with Stock this will be my limit. But with the ASUS board it was as easy as clicking 1 button.
