lovin' it
Cons: VGA port is a little weak (i have all but broke mine off), express gate only seems to work if i am hard wired to the internet via ethernet, it's kinda hard to find higher end processors for it (i suppose it is due to am2/am2+ being out of date) and it does have the square design which doesn't fit in all cases.
Pros: Excellent board, runs strong, comes with great software, love the express gate, it's got great onboard graphics and im actually finding it hard to get a pci-e card that's actually better than it, and it looks dang sexy. Comment:
i would buy this board over and over again if i had the money |

good mb
Cons: The install disc couldn't be read on either of my computers because it was worped so I had download from asus website. I hope I was able to download everything I needed but I'm having a hard time with the audio when switching between video and games.
Pros: Bought a new board so i could upgrade the processor. This has a better chipset than my old board and has DVI input and HD video which is great. 4 memory slots Comment:

ASUX
Cons: Board stopped recognizing SATA drives just under a year later. No changes made to the BIOS or anything. For almost a year the board worked, then when I was powering down and swapping the boot disk (via a hard drive carriage to avoid wearing out or breaking SATA ports) about 10 times before this MB stopped recognizing SATA drives completely. NONE of the SATA ports work any longer.
Pros: None. Comment:
This is a follow-up to my review I made 3 days ago.I received another board from NewEgg to replace this board. All other hardware remained the same, same hard drive, same power supply, same processor, same OS (no new install). The PC now works perfectly. It's an amazing feeling to finally have a motherboard that actually recognizes SATA drives when they're plugged into SATA ports. What a concept! |

Good board Fast Video
Cons: I am not sure if it is a prob with my CPU or my board, but when ever I try to overclock my system hang on boot. I have 3x1GB DDR2 6400 AENEON I upgraded to the latest BIOS using my old Athlon X2 4800+ and when I installed the Athlon 620 my system hang on windows logo and sometimes on POST. I noticed this board only boo properly with only 2x1GB 6400 which is dual channel.
Pros: I like that fact that it has a good on board video 8200. It is really good for the money. I bought it to replace my M3N78-EMH HDMI which could not support my Athlon X4 620 CUP. Comment:

Awesome HTPC base
Cons: None so far.
Pros: 4 DDR2 slotsDespite the specs saying only AM2/AM2+ - It works with a large number of AM3 CPUs. I have an Athlon x2 250 AM3 dual core in mine. Check AMDs website for the full list of compatible CPUs. Onboard Video supports hardware offloading of H.274 playback in Boxee/Ubuntu. Linux drivers are solid enough. Lots of Connectors - SATA, 2x System Fans, hdmi/dvi/vga - surpringsing for a compact Micro-ATX board Comment:
Terrific bang for the buck. Great HTPC base for any platform, wintel or linux. |

Rec'd defective
Cons: I was unable to get it to power, I tried multiple power supplies, removing the ram ect. ect. Called Asus tech support they came to the same conclusion. After reading the reviews I was afraid this might happen and it did =(. As long as I get a working one I'll be happy so, this doesn't really change my opinion of ASUS.
Pros: Seems like a great Motherboard, cheap, has extended support and is a great replacement board per the specs. Comment:
I thought at first the problem had something to do with me or another component, and procrastinated diagnosing the board further, and ended up going out of my 30 days return period by a couple of days. Fortunately Newegg made an exception and is allowing me to RMA it. |

Never buy another ASUS
Cons: I had this mobo for just under 1 year and everything seemed fine. I installed a SATA HD enclosure to allow easy HD swaps. Was powering down and swapping drives every couple days between a Vista and a Win2k drive when eventually nothing would boot. Now, about 30 percent of the time the mobo doesn't even POST! When it does POST it detects the SATA drive about 1 percent of the time. That's right, boot 100 times and maybe 1 time it'll see it and boot Vista. If I drop the drive into a SATA-USB converter it'll boot, but since Vista was already installed as C: I get BSD.When it does POST and I get into the BIOS, as I said about 1 percent of the time the SATA doesn't show up. It showed up for just under 1 year and now the BIOS can't find it. I usually use SATA mode but tried RAID and AHCI just for grins -- no help. The built-in video is extremely slow and useless as movie playback is full of glitches and frame drops.
Pros: None Comment:
I also tried clearing the BIOS via battery removal and jumper move, and I also tried the latest BIOS update. The update worked fine, but still the mobo doesn't recognize the SATA drive. I can plug that SATA drive into another computer and it works fine, and as mentioned, that same SATA drive shows up fine in the BIOS if using a SATA-USB converter. 450 watt power supply and no other drives so power isn't a problem. Cheap mobo and will never buy again. |

Good for HTPC
Cons: Issues with video driver. Colors are too bright even after downloading new drivers and adjusting.
Pros: Good features on board. Easy to set up and configure. Comment:
Nice board for HDPC. Could have added onboard wireless. I am using this in my HDPC. I don't have much faith in the drivers, even the latest ones. I just added a video card to resolve the issue I had. |

great oard
Cons: wish is had an extra PCI slot but i knew it didnt when i ordered it.. so thats on me
Pros: Ordered this to replace my high end Gig motherboard and so far so good.. not a big OC person so this is just right for my gaming.. it came with everythig i needed and more.. got some extra cabbles to a diff MB..lol Comment:
A great board all the way around.. have had no problems with it at all.. |

Great HTPC Mobo
Cons: This board is physically setup a little weird. I had to cut and solder longer cables for my power/reset switches, hdd/power leds. Minor inconvenience.
Pros: HDMI output, NVIDIA chipset, works perfect in Linux. Comment:
Using MythTV and XBMC in Linux works perfect with VDPAU, 1080p and digital audio. Movie playback looks great and sounds great. Had to tweak some of the ALSA settings a little (using hda_intel). |

works great second time around
Cons: has an alternate boot mode for media service that I find useless, but maybe that is just me.
Pros: good range of support, easy setup. automatic smart overclocking. Comment:
had to return the first one I received as it was DOA... not good IMO for a new, in box item... but these things do happen from time to time. |

very satisfied
Cons: lacks 1394 but not a huge deal since i dont really ever use 1394, but would be inconvenience for someone who does. i dont see ever using express gate. hybrid sli is supported by two models of geforce 9800 video cards, and only under vista. doubt ill ever use it since i currently have a 8800gt and will soon upgrade to a 200-series.
Pros: inexpensive. quality hardware. has everything i needed. accepts phenom ii cpus. lots of bios options. stable. Comment:
ive used asus motherboards since 1999. always pleased. |

Works great ... with Windows 7
Cons: Onboard video can get a littler choppy. Connected it to my HDTV, and full screen flash videos have a considerably lower frame rate than I expected.HDMI audio is crackly in Vista, non-existent under Ubuntu 9.10, and only decent in Windows 7. Could not get HDMI audio to work at all in Vista Media Center.
Pros: Decent board for a HTPC. Very stable. Very nice board layout and good documentation. Nifty utility to let you change the BIOS splash - if you are running Windows. Very easy to update the BIOS. Plenty of space for expansion. HDCP-compliant. Comment:
Decent board for a budget HTPC build. |

dont buy! it work than it failed with a loud buzz
Cons: motherboard keep rebooting and a loud buzz from the speakers. I wont get a refund because I broke off the clip to the graphic card slot. you cant load the bios without installing express gate. the bios are very difficult to understand. gigabytes and ECS are much easier to use.GIGABYTE over clocking tools anyone can use.
Pros: software. tech support Comment:
this is my 2nd computer I have built.. I am running back to GIGABYTE MOTHERBOARDS. Asus looks and sound great, but if you like a challenge then go for it. |

1066
Cons: You can only have up to 4GB of 1066MHz memory installed. Paraphrasing the manual, only one DIMM per channel may be 1066...once you put in more than one 1066 DIMM in a channel, the bus speed drops to 800MHz for stability. Not a huge issue, but kind of a bummer.
Pros: - Fast, integrated graphics- HDMI out- On-board video/audio is perfectly compatible with FreeBSD 7 (I'm running 8-amd64-release and everything is working) Comment:
If you want a board that can handle 8GB of 1066, look elsewhere. That being said, any workstation or HTPC can easy get on with 2-4GB of system memory. |

Cons: can't do duel channel with 1066 but i knew that when i bought it
Pros: -great board for the price Comment:
sure there are better boards out there but this one suited my needs for now and my budget |

HDCP correction
Cons: None.
Pros: Great features, HDMI and eSATA are a nice touch. IGP NVIDIA chip is fast. Comment:
I wrote a three-egg review complaining about HDCP and I need to correct it - While the fact that the mobo has HDCP components *should* have been made visible on the specs section, it doesn't affect the resolution through normal monitors. I'm running the computer now at 1920x1200 via DVI on a non-HDCP, 24" LCD monitor. Oops.I made an amateur blunder and I apologize to ASUS and the community for spreading misinformation. |

mixed reviews
Cons: the i/o cover does not fit right, and the motherboard seems cheap. when you install the ram it sounds like the motherboard is breaking. the cpu fan does have fan control , but it is set to high. I have a 2,000 rpm fan running at 4,300 rpms. the northbridge is very hot about 40 c. I install a fan on top of my case that hits it. my cpu is about 10 c hot now than it was in its old motherboard. it idles at 30 c to 44 c under load.
Pros: motherboard worked right out of the box. when I build my work horse computer last year I had to give an Intel board life support to get the bios to load. Nvidia 8200 graphics . Asus software is good. VIT hd audio sounds great over 2.1 speakers. hdmi and esata on the back panel. Comment:
my hard drive acted up after we installed the motherboard. it take us 5 days to figure this out. my hard drive was crushing everything. so we were not sure if the motherboard was bad. I break off the the graphic card clip. so when I install my card it wont get stuck. these locking clips are a waste of time. |

3rd time is a charm
Cons: This is my third go-round with this board - the first two were DOA, [however it is a possibility the motherboards died as a result of a bad CPU. This would be a first for me in over 30 years of building literally thousands of PCs, but I've learned that anything is possible.] The DVD they sent with the drivers was no good - in fact I think it's blank (unrecorded.) I was able to download all the drivers (use the download manager, they are quite large) and utilities.
Pros: Works great - just like you would expect from ASUS. Lots of great features, even better price. Comment:
This motherboard has a limited, 'instant on' operating system that functions rather well. It works perfectly for guest access (since all that can be done is internet browsing and skype.) I think with all the features included, this motherboard is a bargain. |

Rock Solid
Cons: None so far.... although I haven't figured out if/how to get audio out with the HDMI.
Pros: Great Features. Runs smooth with almost no issues ever so far.Suprisingly, HDMI works great... switches over to HDMI from DVI as soon as I put my LCD TV to HDMI Input. Comment:
Thanks New Egg!!!!! |

DOA #2
Cons: Super I/O chip is either bad or incorrectly installed. Two DOA's with smoking chips. Unacceptable!
Pros: Well laid out, good price point for features Comment:
I spent over an hour on the phone with ASUS tech support and we went over the board carefully trying different power supplies, memory, etc., and they came to the conclusion there is a MFG problem with the board, perhaps a bad batch of boards.I've been using ASUS for many years as a system builder and haven't run into a Quality problem like this for about 10 years. I hope it isn't indicative of a problem at ASUS.On a positive note, Newegg was fair with me regarding all the hassles and shipping costs for two dead motherboards. |

DOA Motherboard
Cons: Motherboard is DOA. The board could not have been tested properly. The BIOS chip started smoking instantly when started and MB won't boot (of course.)
Pros: I've been a fan of ASUS quality for many years - they went through a rough patch several years back, but overall their quality has been very good. This is the first DOA MB I have got (out of hundreds) in several years. Comment:
I am not giving this a negative rating as I'm sure the motherboard design is fine. This is one that slipped through QA and should not have. My concern is that ASUS may be not as careful as they once were? Let's hope not! When I get a replacement, I will update/revise my review (assuming the next board will be OK.) |

boot time and express gate
Cons: same as before
Pros: same as before Comment:
re: boot time by default, Express Gate is enabled, which is their gimmicky mini Linux OS for web browsing while you wait for booting Windows technology. You can reduce BIOS boot time by disabling this under the "Tools" menu. |
