ASUS M4785-M
Cons: One IDE Connector no floppy connector at all. no other fan connections on the mother board to take advantage of the additional 120mm fan in the Cooler Master Case. Not a big deal but I did have an IDE floppy and DvD rom unit for testing.
Pros: Easily installed and configured in less than one hour. Excellent BIOS. Fine ASUS quality construction. I installed one in a Cooler Master Case w/500w PS from Thermaltake, used a thermaltake 4022 Cooling fan on a AMD Athlon II 240 and came right up. I had to make some minor changes in the BIOS for O/C otherwise it was quick and seamless |

Pros: well got the motherboard its nice looking cant' wait to get the rest of my stuff I got the CPU AN NOW JUST HAVE TO GET THE MEMOREY AN THE POWERSUPPLY. IT HAS ON BOARD VIDEO WITCH IS NICE BUT STILL GOING TO GET THE VIDEO CARD. CAN'T WAIT TO GET THIS UP AN GOING. IT BE IN A FEW WEEKS. Comment:

A pleasure to install
Cons: This board does not give you room for a lot of expansion cards, but as I dont need that I dont think of it as much of a con. My ATI 3850 and one wireless card took up the entire expansion space on the board.
Pros: This board was one of the easiest I ever installed, and I have installed hundreds. The screw retainer holes lined up perfectly with the case, all of them, as did the cable connections and the CPU fan. This might be partly because of the case, but I would have to say it was the smoothest MB install I have ever done. From UPS delivery to boot up took me 1 hour, and the resulting wire routing was neat and tidy as well. Comment:
For the price and the resulting performance (AMD Phenom II X4 945 ) I could not recommend this board enough. I have overclocked to 3.4 GHz with one setting change and couldnt be happier. |

More than enough board
Cons: None
Pros: Good price. Asus quality. 6 SATA ports. Comment:
Now serving as motherboard for Freenas server. I know this is overkill for this task but the price was right. |

Cost Effective Desktop Starts with This
Cons: LPT (parallel printer port) connector on mb requires an adapter (not included) to allow connecting a parallel interface printer to the back-plane. For example, I have a venerable old Brother Laser printer I would like to interface with my computer but no parallel port with this mb.
Pros: AMD 785G Chipset, on board graphics, quality circuit board design, works with Linux (Ubuntu 9.10, Mint 8, Ubuntu 10.04 Alpha3, plus Windows 7 32 and 64 bit versions of Home Premium. Great ASUS website support, Six USB ports on back panel, 6 USB ports available on headers, many more features. Comment:
ASUS is the only mainboard maker I am aware of that includes Linux (Ubuntu) drivers and the instructions to install them on their website. I built several desktops with this mb and have been pleased with its value. I have just purchase another four for my next four builds/upgrades. |

Good base model
Cons: doesn't have a separate PC speaker pin in case your cpu case doesn't have one, but that's pretty trivial
Pros: Affordable, simple, hooks up well. Good pin layout, LOTS of internal USB hookups. Fit my gigantic CPU fan. Comment:
great basic use motherboard. purchased for my mother... runs all of her applications on windows 7 just fine, popcap games fine. not tested with high performance games |

Good value, worked 100% for me
Cons: Only about 2/3 or 3/4 of the capacitors are solid end caps but the 3 year warranty makes it worth. If this mobo goes bad after 3 years then I got tmy full money's worth (paid $0 from Newegg sale and free shipping!) as this is will be the workhorse PC for video editing.
Pros: Met and beat all my expectations.Everything you need and then some, fully features for the budget price, decent heatsinks (needed), excellent BIOS for overclocking - runs my AMD X4 955BE (also from Newegg!) to 3.8 Ghz with one change in the BIOS! Comment:
Asus is my first choice for mobos and I've owned other several brands - Biostar, Intel, ASRock, ECS. The quality in Asus just seems to stand out for me. |

Changed How I Feel About AMD
Cons: It gave me some funky errors with the Encore wireless N card I used with it but the onboard LAN is very responsive so I just ran some Cat5E instead.
Pros: Tons of useful features, great audio, gigabit LAN, decent onboard video, overclocks like a dream. I honestly despised AMD until I picked up this motherboard along with the AMD Athlon II X2 240 Regor. This motherboard and that CPU forever changed my opinion of AMD.With minimal tweaking, I easily achived a 3.4GHZ (stable) overclock up from the stock 2.8GHz speed with NO voltage increase - simply amazing. I didn't even use a Zalman for this build and the temperatures are really cool, the entire system is responsive and I am a changed man. Comment:
Got this as a combo deal so I could replace my mom's old Dell. Paired with 2GB G.Skill RAM, an ASUS GT220, a nice 750GB Seagate HDD and a Corsair 400W PSU for a very responsive Windows 7 machine. My little brother tears TF2 up on this thing with relatively high settings. I'll never look @ AMD the same again after this build - this rig screams for the $$ I paid. |

Another great motherboard
Cons: Was not able to use my AMD X2 3800+. Because the processor isn't fast enough. You have to use at least an AMD 4600+ according to the downloadable sheet from Asus website.
Pros: It 's able to use some of the existing memory from my Asus M2NPV-VM. It also has some of the same stuff. Sata ports, onboard video shared up to 512mb. Great tech support I actually called ASUS before buying this mb...Also 4 memory slots so you can use those old 1 gig sticks. Plus it takes 4 different speeds of ddr2 memory. Comment:
Would have liked to have had an esata port. Also this is my first time using ATI onboard video. They've been around a long while. Great company. This motherboard has plenty of startup speed.......Great deal for the money. |

Works well
Cons: None
Pros: Installed W7 ultimate faultlessly, driver CD was not needed, one item after the install was driverless, this was remedied by Windows Update. Comment:
Can't comment on the video as I'm using a separate video card. |

Cons: Wasnt able to get MyLogo to work with Windows 7. Not really a con for me but it would of been a cool feature.
Pros: Great mobo works great Comment:

ATI still sucks for Linux
Cons: I still don't like ATI video. Running this board as the base for an Ubuntu Linux desktop, the proprietary ATI video drivers actually work great... until you try to run a game or something else that really pushes the video. Simple 3D like the Desktop cube, video, transparency, performance are all great, but not games. ATI drivers freak out.
Pros: Great motherboard for the price, especially with the bundled Athlon II 3x processor. I especially like having 4 memory slots, which means I can buy more memory without having to throw away the memory I already have. I have two of these boards (one at work, one at home), and not a single hiccup... except for... Comment:
I haven't tried the RAID yet to see if it's real or "fake" RAID.You don't get many expansion slots, but I can't really count that as a "con", since you know what you're getting. |

ASUS M4A785-M mATX AM3/AM2+ 785G DDR2 PCI-E16 PCI-E 2XPCI SATA RAID Video Sound GBLAN Motherboard
Cons: did not like the ATI video that came with it.
Pros: love the upgrade capability that it has. easy to install with help from the manual. works great with products that I already own. as well as works great with windows 7, which I think is great. Comment:

Good board
Cons: Had no audio with xp sp3 then i installed xp sp2 x64 worked fine.
Pros: This is my 2nd Asus board 1st was a m2n-e sli with a athlon 7850 worked ok ... This build i got a athlon 2 x2 240 Regor and works same if not faster runs cooler. Comment:
Buy it for a cheap decent board. |

Good Product
Cons: The BIOS that was installed when I got it did not support the Phenom II x2 555. I was able to flash the bios with no problems so I'm not removing an egg for that.
Pros: This is a great product. Asus continues to make top notch products at reasonable prices. Installation was a breeze. Comment:
I have now used Gigabyte and Asus motherboards. Both are great but I prefer Gigabyte because of the system recovery feature it has. |

Cons: none so far.
Pros: Asus is a very good brand. This board was great for my gaming build.Only have had it for a week so far but it is running great.temps stay cool around 100-104 F max is 170 FVery nice audioHave not tried the onboard video since I have an EVGA 9800 GTX+ :) Comment:
I thought there was an issue with memory, well there is. I have ddr2 1066 kingston ram running in single channel. When the ram was in dual channel the system reboots ever 20 minutes. I hope this will help any of you who are having the same problem I did. |

Pros: for a micro board lots of bells and whistles, and booted right up with windows 7 64 bit install everything recognized, didn't even have to use the asus CD for drivers. only for the utilities. recognized the DDR2 1066 ram right off no tweeks or anything Comment:

new to ASUS
Cons: none it made my x2 an x4 for under $80 can't beat that.
Pros: My first ASUS board and I am not suprised at all at how easy the board clocks. I was a Gigabyte man but since I switched from Intel to AMD Phenom II 550BE X4(stable), OCing makes more sense as well as easier. If I don't want mem to be Oced, raise my multi etc. I don't see switching back to Intel ne time soon. Good job ASUS and thank you Newegg. Comment:
Did I mention that it unlocked my X2?! jk. an excellent MOBO at an even better price! |

Great Motherboard
Cons: None
Pros: Micro ATX form factorOnboard VidStraight foward BIOS Comment:
This board is easy to work with. My first PC build ever. I notice the quality components (Capacitors, heatsinks.. etc...). I will use ASUS again. |

Works well with 64-bit Linux
Cons: No DDR3 support.
Pros: Good performance, compact and very good value for the price. Comment:
Used with Athlon II X4 620. Older Linux distributions support ATI Radeon 4200 as basic ATI card which is fine for most applications. Update Radeon driver is still in development and would be recommended for graphics intensive work such as gaming or CAD. |

Nice First Impression, but pay attention...
Cons: - depending on your case, the HDD might poke out too far and hit the PATA cable connector (it is right on the edge of the board)--had to dock one egg for this; just eyeball it and imagine it in your case if you think this may be an issue for you- no firewire, but I knew that before buying
Pros: - well packaged & documented, 2 SATA cables included (1 90 degree angle and 1 straight). - RAID drivers included on disc; very convenient during my Vista install- on-board RAID easy to configure (0,1,10), just make sure you go back and re-designate drive-order and boot-order in BIOS after configuring RAID- support for old PATA drives saved me some $$ (one connector for 2 drives in the old "master" and "slave" setup- board layout includes good descriptions for what goes where--saved time installing (make sure too look at the manual to see which pins are + and - before connecting case switches/leds to board)- easy-to-use overclocking options in BIOS (should also note as I type this my Propus X4 620 is idling at 35C and mobo is 42C on stock-AMD cooler with one 92mm case fan--not overclocking at this point; will update review later re this subject)- more SATA ports (6) than my mid-tower can handle- ADATA memory works great (AD2U800B2G5-DRH); again, not overclocking yet Comment:
- FedEx was worth the money- make sure you update your BIOS before configuring RAID; forces you to rebuild array and reinstall OS after update (I found out the hard way)- pay attention to how you configure SATA ports for RAID/IDE/AHCI, you can configure 3 for one thing and 3 for the other, but cannot use certain combinations; read the manual if this doesn't make sense you to- |

smooth sailing
Cons: i thought express gate was built into the motherboard via a ssd chip...although it has this feature in bios and can be set on or off on boot and comes with driver disk...can be booted onto disk drive or flash drive...i had a caldera error message when booting from f8 while instaling the wd hard drive couldnt boot from that command .none really other than that....
Pros: this board is well built for future products and computing ...has many features in bios and settings... Comment:
i have a wd hard drive sata 2 ..i installed a pci express card for a sata1 motherboard and set the jumper at 1.5 gbs and did not boot properly and i lost my mb bios from the pci card ..this is an old asus board from a hp pc...when i installed xp onto the new m4a785-m using the same wd sata2 hd ..boy i had to trouble shoot the whole system ..wasnt sure if it was the new mother board or cpu, or memory i had just ordered from new egg..man i was in a bind the system was hanging draging freezing ...the whole time it was the wd hard drive it had a bad sector from my first 1.5 gbs xp boot on my old hp asus board and made a dual xp boot and ...anyway i rebooted xp and (again) deleted the old partion this time walla ...i downloaded the drivers from asus.com wasnt sure if the mb driver disk was corrupted...and updated the ms netframeworksp2 for the catalyst drivers for hd radeon also updated the hd radeon 4200 drivers via radeon.com...and i have been sailing everysince this baby is a charm now |
