ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AMD970/SB950 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 SATA3 USB3.0 CrossFireX Motherboard
Cons:I/O shield did not line up correctly.

Pros:Looks great in my case.
Comment:
I/O shield did not line up correctly. Read a few reviews elsewhere that confirmed this to be an issue with many. Kind of a pain trying to plug things into the USB ports.

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AMD970/SB950 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 SATA3 USB3.0 CrossFireX Motherboard
Cons:Did not detect my Patriot Viper 1866 memory TRAS speed correctly, easily fixed by manual input.

Pros:Great layout, features and BIOS. Awesome overclocker.Very fast boot up Asus quality cannot be beaten!
Comment:
FX-8320 at 4.4Ghz stable on swiftec water system (1/2" pipe, dual rad, VGA, GPU and reservoir in the system). Very easy OC multiplier to 22, cool&quiet off and turbo core off = 4.4Ghz, stock is 3.5ghz.Hits 57C will VGA/GPU running 100% for 1 hr. Very unlikely to run 8 cores at 100% in a game, more likely 4.Hint: Use the AMD catalyst suite to OC the cpu, its automatic and free. Uses the multiplier. Great start to your OCing.

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AMD970/SB950 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 SATA3 USB3.0 CrossFireX Motherboard
Cons:2 Aux fan headers are up top beside cpu fan header. Having 1 down below would be nice. The front audio port is way down and at the rear of the mobile... Again this should be near the front of all mobos.

Pros:USB 3, UEFI BIOS, Stable, Mosfet Cooling, Stable Overclocking.
Comment:
Slapped this system together with an fx6100 cpu and 8 gigs of Kingston ram. Bootup was flawless and the UEFI BIOS was nice to use however I resorted to the ole keyboard. Bios has all the tweaks for overclocking and a simple one click overclock feature which when tried ran a stable 3.4 ghz overclock. I'd buy this again for a customer looking to game on a decent budget paired with any AMD FX series cpu.

Overall happy with this board but I wish that the first one had not failed as it was a bit of a pain to send back for replacement.ASUS was very easy to deal with which made the process acceptable.

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AMD970/SB950 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 SATA3 USB3.0 CrossFireX Motherboard
Cons:no firewire or eSata

Pros:PriceBiosMosfet cooling4+2 power phase
Comment:
Great board for a budget build. The MOSFET cooling on an $80 board (on sale) is an added bonus. The Bios is laid out nicely and is easy to navigate with a mouse. Most boards in this price range have a 4+1 power phase. The 4+2 will give you better OCing headroom. 8+2 would have been nice but it's not going to happen at this price point! Even so, this board is 140 watt capable so a moderate overclock on a 125 watt cpu should be fine. Currently using a 955 at 3.8 , Prime 95 stable without a problem. ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AMD970/SB950 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 SATA3 USB3.0 CrossFireX Motherboard
Cons:-Few case fan plugs(not really a con, just something to be aware of)

Pros:-Has all the features I wanted-Asus bios-Inexpensive
Comment:
Very solid motherboard on a budget. I went through a couple of Gigabyte boards that had to be RMAd and I got sick of it and got one of these instead, and am very happy I did. Ive done some overclocking but nothing extensive(FX4100 at 4.4GHZ, tightened RAM timings) so I cant say how far it can be pushed, but have had no issues in stress tests or normal use. The bios is fun to use and the system tools are actually useful, and ensured that Ill be buying Asus motherboards from here on out.

ASUS M5A97 R2.0 AMD970/SB950 ATX AM3+ DDR3 2PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 SATA3 USB3.0 CrossFireX Motherboard
Cons:Mine seems to have one of the chassis fan connections busted. It works fine, but the sensor on it is broken.Chassis fan connections are all at the top and that's just stupid because wires end up going right near the CPU heatsink. But there are 3 fan connectors so that's a good bonus.

Pros:UEFI BiosEnough expansionsAll SATA ports are 6GB/sVery nice software suiteLots of options in the BIOS
Comment:
Despite it being 970 and not 990FX I am very happy with it.First of all because it's a UEFI BIOS I had no trouble at all installing Win 8 right on the 3TB drive and boot from it.The layout of the board is good. Aside from the above mentioned fan connectors. All the connections (SATA, Front panel, front USB, etc.) are easy to access and use. And nothing is in the way.I have already been checking out it's overclocking options and I like them. The bios automatically adjusted everything to run my 1333 memory as 1600, and it's very stable. I'd highly recommend it.
