Pros far outway the cons (though there are a couple of)Ʌ. plenty of back panel USB and even 2 - e-sata. Good for me since I applied E-sata externals.2. Quite nice onboard audio, delivers great sound clarity.3. Ceramix design proves cooler than any other boards I have utilized or tested.4. Warranty, warranty, warranty.five. Did I mention the warranty? Cons... Yea they're there.1. you can\'t boot to a SATA III HDD that is installed on the SATA III port. These ports are apparently for RAID only and will not acknowledge bootable devices. I ahve been fighting to attempt to rectify this for sometime. (Apparently it functions for some, but not for me. Asus has been no support).2. Spacing of the expansion slots is awkward. If you are utilizing a two slot Vid. Card in the preffered PCIe X16 then you lose the only PCI. (Which is the only way to fix con three)three. Not sufficient internal USB headers. I could do with no the firewire (since they are going out of style and style) and additional USB. I can't utilize my case ports and card reader. Very good board, I'd buy it once again, but I would just obtain a SSD instead of shelling out for a SATA III I can't use.

Wonderful specs, runs smoothly and booted up initially time with one caveat (see below). It turns out it was Intel's fault and not Asus' although, so I didn't ding the rating of this item for it. Like numerous folks, I initially didn't get recognition for all my memory - only eight GB of 12 GB installed posted. THIS WAS NOT THE MOTHERBOARD'S FAULT! Right after some frustrating troubleshooting (since there is a lengthy list of factors this can happen), I discovered out that the difficulty was truly a design and style flaw by Intel on how the CPU is seated in the 1366 socket.Basically, when you seat the CPU and push down on the retaining lever to lock it, it can really result in the CPU to shift slightly out of position. The frustrating issue is that it will nevertheless probably recognize the CPU, but due to the fact the memory controller is portion of the CPU if it is misaligned you might get this problem with memory detection. The answer was to push down (*gently!!!*) on the opposite side of the retaining plate while closing the retaining lever. A lot of people have RMA'd perfectly good motherboards since they didn't do this. Following I re-seated the CPU this way all 12 GB posted and it's worked like a charm considering that. An additional reviewer pointed out that the lack of an IDE port was a good feature. I believe that's a tiny silly - I have an older IDE drive that I would have liked to rip out of my old pc and place into this one for further storage/backup until I have the scratch to place in much more 1 TB+ SATA drives. Truly not a major deal at all, but it would have been nice.

good style, works for me and under no circumstances gave me issues (at least, not but) northbridge runs hot even even though idle, gotta uncover a way to get it at least five degrees cooler.. also, PCI slots are way also close to every other, i would assume if i crossfire, it would make the graphic card above hotter than the 1 below due to lack of airflow.. Not several Firewire Port not compatible with the audio interface I am attempting to run, PCIe slots all jammed collectively, not possible to fit a dual slot VGA and use more then one or two of the other slots. It has fully quit working now leaving me no other decision but to ship back what will be my third non-operational MB. Don't bother Contacting Asus for tech support, right after sitting on hold for 45 mins was ultimately able to get a hold of a tech that told me to do what I had currently attempted, re-seating ram, cpu and video card. Try various energy provide, and ram. Nothing at all. Not to mention the whole while I would be talking to him he was whistling !! In all probability my final Asus motherboard. Wish I could leave Zero Eggs

CompleteEasy installNo problems with SATA (so far)Tons of expansion slots The spacing among the PCI ports leaves anything to be preferred. The video card I use ended up covering two ports just from its size and the tightly-spaced ports. If you're contemplating operating several video cards, look at motherboards with far more spacing. 1 of the integrated cooling blocks near the CPU slot (for me) was detached, while I was capable to slide it back into place. It may possibly have been removed through shipment, but that's hardly fair for me to complain about.

Strong board; anything worked quickly.I'm running 12gigs of Kingston 1600 ram (KHX1600C9D3K3ቨGX), because it's confirmed to operate with 24gigs. If I ever want an upgrade, I'll get one more set.Can run dual pcie x16, and nevertheless manage x4 in the third slot (which I place a Revodrive in). It cannot handle all: dual x16, single x4, Sata6, and USB3 at when. I knew that before acquiring it although, and just opted not to use sata6 orUSB3. Nevertheless, it would be good. I don't overclock myself, but the bios looked rather customizable for those that do.

Not numerous pros, this is the bare minimum motherboard with the X58 chipset. With features comparable to each and every other X58 board in existance. Defective motherboard. SATA 6 ports randomly stop working in windows 7, producing the drive just fully dissapear from view requiring a full shut down to bring back up. Switching to the Sata 3 ports, following becoming powered down for more than a handful of minutes it will wipe the raid0 setting absolutely, requiring you to reconfigure and reinstall the entire HD, this is fully ridiculous due to the fact I've been working with Raid0 for years and never had such problems. Longtime Asus fanboy, I've constructed more than 20 computer systems making use of Asus motherboards, in the past 3yrs I have gotten Three defective motherboards from them. This was the finish of our connection, I will never ever buy Asus goods of any category again.I reccomend if you are seeking for a good X58 board, verify out Gigabyte and EVGA, EVGA specifically has great buyer support.Yes the value on this is appealing, but Asus is going to be more headaches than it is worth in the end.

None that i saw except it appears sort of cool. Has way as well high of an RMA rate and i feel that i have been ripped off due to the return shipping charges and RMA i had to file for a refund. Extremely disappointed in the high quality and integrity of this mobo. I'm positive this would be a fantastic mobo if it had a reduce RMA price. With this quite a few complaints/RMA on this board how can newegg continue to sell this? Felt like a scam to me to get men and women to spend the return shipping and restocking fee for a mobo that has a higher defective rate.

This is one particular of the Best x58 chipset primarily based boards on the industry, regardless of cost. Quite a few options, solid reliability, and overclocks like a champ. I have a i7 950 inside of it at the moment, and with appropriate cooling I have it at 4.1ghz and can go further if I want. I have had zero issues with this board from 1st create. It just screams top quality and is an absolute steal at this pricepoint. Also, the board appears fantastic. Don't be fooled by all of the pictures you see on the net...this board is one of the nicer seeking boards on the industry as nicely! To be honest, a handful of (but not numerous)Ʌ. PCI slot placement. It could have been Beneath the PCI express slots. Where it is now makes it nearly useless if you are going to SLI. 2. Quite picky with memory. As extended as you go with brands/models verified by ASUS (go to thei site and download the manual for this board, which will tell you) you will be fine.three. No IDE port. I know, nobody utilizes it anymore....but I would have considering that I still have burners and drives!Other than these minor complains, once again, 1 of the greatest x58 boards...even rivaling boards with this chipset for double the value! Asus is a fantastic brand. I have had troubles with other names (almost all) but Asus just stands out with their good quality solution. As lengthy as they preserve the high quality on par with things such as this they have a customer for life!

Dual x16/x16 pcie slots, x58, asus, overclocks wells! I just got my board as of right now 4ǜቧ and the initially issue i noticed when removing from the packaging is that 1 of the mosfet heatsinks where poorly attached to the Mosfet. just requires a slight pressure on its side and it detaches from the thermal tape and rocks to the side till i let go... (spring fasteners) i have owned this board ahead of, this is a seconds create with this board and i haven't installed it due to the heat sink challenge. = / exploring my selections before contemplating on a RMA (last resort)

Two most significant positive aspects:--Trusted (used in 6 builds, none DOA but)--five year warranty (as opposed to ASUS' usual 3 year)Comes with all the usual connections of an x58 board. 8 SATA, many USB and 1 firewire header. Set up is effortless sufficient (just like an motherboard should be), I didn't bother with the guidelines as this wasn't my first build. --Ugly color for most color schemes (purely aesthetic even though).--Bottom PCIx16 slot will interfere with PSU in little circumstances if you use a two-slot card there. Otherwise, be certain to run your front-panel cables prior to you install anything in this slot.--Only 2-way SLI, but you can run a 3rd video card for the outputs. Preserve an eye out for this in a bundle with 3x4GB RAM kits for ~跌. I've got one more 1 of these in the mail for an i7-970 build with 18GB of RAM, GTX460, a 9500GT, three 500GB HDDs in RAID5. Can't wait to get it together to get another create out the door.

Great Price tag, rugged design and style, triple channel mem setup. Whoever made this have to hate SLI configurations. The PCIE slot style makes it darn near not possible to run SLI due to the fact the gpu's would sit right on top rated of a single an additional and air flow would be severely restricted on the top card. Also it would absolutely cover the one particular PCI slot there is. Phenomenal single gpu boardSLI? Not so substantially.

The board overall is very good. Nice layout. Lots of tweaking alternatives. The Asus Probe and Fan utilities are nice. Worked on 1st boot with no adjustments. Like a few other people have reviewed and is noticed all over evaluations for this board on a straightforward google search, the 6.0G/s Marvel Controller is cr@p. I purchased a WD 6.0G/s 1TB drive to go with the board. Loaded up fine and seemed to be working until the BSOD's began occuring everytime I put a load on the drive. Event Viewer shows Disk time out fails. Or could not create to disk.Immediately after attempting every thing I could uncover in the google posts (setting AHCI on teh controllers, load the Intel Controller driver on Asus Support site) absolutely nothing seemed to make a difference.Ultimately I read that if you place it on the three.0G/s ports produced by intel, the BSODs go away. I did so and confident adequate pc really sped up and have not observed a problem considering that. So if your looking for a board that in fact utilizes 6.0G/s drives this is not the a single. Though on my WD drive I don't see any loss of efficiency operating on the 3.0G/s port

Looks wonderful and worked first time I turned it on. the RAMOK! alternative is slightly confusing. I place the RAM in the sockets and when I turned it on, I got a red light and no post screen. No beeping either to signify improper RAM installation. I moved the Ɠ) 2GB sticks to the second channel and it turned on and worked fine. Strange, but straightforward to get around. After installing my ASUS ENGTS450, I realized if I wanted to SLI (which I planned to do), the graphics cards would just about be touching, leaving no area for the initial GPU fan to recieve cooling. TERRIBLE design and style layout for a fullsize motherboard. On a micro MOBO it would make sense, but not for a complete size. AND, if I did SLI, I would have NO access to my PCI slot (not a enormous inconvenience but odd).
