Do not use with Charter Communications
Cons: Refused to properly hold onto Dynamic IP from Charter Communication (cable) broadband. Any time I had to power it off, getting it reconnected was nearly impossible. This last time I had enough and replaced it.

Pros: Very nice user interface.
Comment:
There is a single post I found online that says they were able to resolve their Charter connection issue by installing Tomato. I performed the same steps and still am unable to use this router. Seek another router if you use Charter.

Great router, great price
Cons: None so far.

Pros: Works well right out of the box with many features. Works great with dd-wrt too!
Comment:
I've owned at least 5 linksys wrt54g routers before and they all seem to brick on me. I decided to go a different route this time and I'm happy I did. Supports dd-wrt really well and has been every bit as solid as the (working) wrt54g and hasn't bricked yet so thats a bonus!

STABLE ROUTER
Cons: NONE for the price.

Pros: Stable, USB, good range, Open Source, Price and does well with PPPOE.
Comment:
I counted and have purchased 9 of these in the last few months. I'e never had any problems with them and believe me, I have pushed them. I use Tomato firmware with USB MOD. Tomato has plenty of features and makes a good versatile router out of the WL-520GU. If you are having trouble with this I would have to say it's USER ERROR. or could be the stock firmware, i've never used it.

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:none

Pros:PriceCan flash to tomato firmware or other 3rd party firmwares
Comment:
I got this mainly for tomato firmware that everyone is talking about these days. Its a pretty good firmware has lots of features and such. I didn't find that it increased my speeds or fix my lag issues. So maybe its time to get a new isp. Overall can't complain about the price its a really cheap router to get if your looking to try out tomato firmware. Maybe it will work better for you.

Great deal on powerful hardware!
Cons: No real cons.. but router crashes when trying to bridge a serial (USB>serial adapter) dial-up connection to the LAN. (then again, this isn't exactly supported to begin with... but I had to jury-rig something until high-speed becomes available in my area).

Pros: Great deal for what you get. Good signal strength. Power brick is shaped so you can still use the plug above/below it in a power strip.
Comment:
Following advice of other reviews, I installed Tomato USB mod as the first thing when I unpacked it. Very stable. DD-WRT tends to drop/reconnect connections frequently on this router. (~10 minute interval)

Great device
Cons: No so far

Pros: Great router, working perfectly with Tomato and DD-WRT. It can be easily flashed from DD-WRT to tomato, and vise versa. Setup printer server in tomato 1.27 is somewhat a tricky but finally working great.
Comment:
As well known, there is much sigal reduction when it is Served as wireless client mode in a house. it will be 2/3 reduction of signaling (6mbps) by conncetion to laptop in a wireless client mode as compare to directly wireless connection (17mbps) by laptop. It would be advantage as wireless bridge to connect many devices.

Works like a charm
Cons: DD-WRT installation is a little tricky but worth the trouble.

Pros: This is a good sized router that replaced my failing dlink. Since the installation it is as if I upgraded my internet speed, i've used other dd-wrt routers (WRT54G Rev 8) and I will never purchase one of those again. The admin interface is snappy and it just works. I didn't try the original firmware since I was shopping for a tomato/dd-wrt router.
Comment:
I've run both tomato and dd-wrt on this router without any problems.

Piece of JUNK
Cons: Received DEFECTIVE unit! Extremely difficult to get this unit to connect to Comcast. All in all, a piece of junk.

Pros: Cheap with built in print server
Comment:
Wasted 4 hours trying to get it to work. Kept on getting IP is not correct no matter how many times I restart the router, cable modem and PC. Sounds like many others experienced SAME problem. This is 7th or 8th wireless router I set up and the WORST ever.

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:None.

Pros:Great range, built-in USB print server, can run DD-WRT or Tomato firmware.
Comment:
This is a very good router for the money. The bonus to this router is that it includes a USB print server. The ASUS firmware seemed to be a very simple to use but on the other hand, lacking in features. Honestly though, I didn't even bother with it because I had planned to flash it with DD-WRT all along, which was a very simple process, and now it's running awesome.

nice router, NON-FUNCTIONAL software
Cons: how Asus would risk their reputation by shipping it with this non-functional software is really a surprise to me. I always get a message telling me that "I have the wrong dynamic or static IP address entered..." Eventhough I have set it to acquiring IP address automatically.Although i appreciate Newegg's careful shipping procedure, I think they went overkill. Save some of the unnecassary packaging, save the environment and money and pass the savings on to us.

Pros: aesthetically appealing, good range, solid wireless connections so far, small, great price point, newegg's fast shipping, asus rebate.
Comment:
Once it's working, it is a terrific product. I wouldn't expect anything less coming from ASUS but they could have made the process alot easier if they would have just paid the guy who created TOMATO and ship the product with the firmware instead.

Cons: Software is a little bad, but you can always use something different considering it is open source.

Pros: Asus has always been a really trusted company for me. I bought this because of the name. I am impressed with the stability of it under a substantial load. I have had 5 other routers fail in the same place I put this one.

Rebates Suck!
Cons: When I bought it, there was a $10 rebate offer. So after I get it I go to fill it out. Turns out you have to go to some lame rebate processing site that wants your email, phone number, etc. Great, just what I need, more spam. Does anyone actually think they will use this information to contact you if there is a problem with the rebate? Hell no they are just stealing and selling your contact info. Bah! It's not worth it to me for $10, keep your stinking rebate!

Pros: Great router. Especially if you put DD-WRT on it. The DD-WRT website currently says it has to run at a slightly slower clock speed than it normally should for some odd reason. So what, it's still a great router.
Comment:
I'll never buy another product with anything other than an "instant" rebate. I don't need any more STUPIDMFN TELEMARKETERS calling me!!!

Turned mine into a DD-WRT client bridge
Cons: Still haven't received my rebate... not sure what the hold up is, making this a pretty expensive wireless router.

Pros: Like many other reviewers, this is a great router if flashed with DD-WRT. I needed to extend the wireless signal downstairs to my PS3. Because this was my first DD-WRT flash and I was pretty scared of bricking, I went with this router because it was so easy to do (no tftp required, just browser based firmware upgrade). I ended up flashing a Buffalo WHR-G125 the following weekend. The product feels rock solid and has decent range with the external antennae. I'm a big fan of ASUS products.
Comment:
Had I felt a bit more comfortable with DD-WRT, I could have went with the ASUS WL-520gC for about half the price since you only need the micro build of DD-WRT for client bridge.

Wireless Bridge
Cons: No problems so far. ASUS should embrace open source firmware. I never tried the out-of-the-box configuration, but I doubt it will work as a wireless bridge without changing the firmware.

Pros: Flashes to DD-WRT or Tomato.
Comment:
I bought two units and am using them as a wireless Ethernet bridge. Flashed both to Tomato. A bridge allows you to have a hardwire connection to the remote unit that essentially looks like plugging into the router. Buying two of these was the same cost as buying a proprietary wireless adapter for a Blu-ray/Netflix player, but provides a lot more capability, such as connecting other boxes or extending a wireless network.

Not for Noobs
Cons: Print server does not live up to expectations.

Pros: A fine router, as far as I can tell.
Comment:
Check the printer compatability list CAREFULLY. If your printer isn't on it, don't hold your breath. With the factory firmware, it detected my Brother MFC-8220 just fine, but pages printed have black bands across them. Would not detect ANY USB disc I plugged in - flash drive or regular hard drive.Tomato allowed me to use the USB interface for hard drives and the print function works great, but the multi-function features are not natively supported. I'm still trying the DD-WRT route, but that's not working for the scan functions yet either. As a network interface, this thing works great. If you're planning to plug anything into the USB port, do your homework first. I've seen people write reviews that say their printer works with it, right out of the box. Good for them.

Okay, Once you flash new firmwark
Cons: OEM firmware. Could not connect any wireless devices with WEP or WPA security on, only would connect in open unsecured mode.

Pros: Works great once you load DD-WRT or Tomato. I was able to replace dead Actiontec MI424WR on my FIOS (now run by Fairpoint in NH) since I had an ethernet connection from the ONT.
Comment:
Everything should work out of the box, I was prepared to do the upgrades after reading reviews, but the more I read about flashing the firmware the scarier it sounded. After more than an hour of reading and prepping I took the plunge and had my network running again in about 20 minutes. You'll get a nice shot of adrenaline, when you flash the frimware for the first time while wondering if you just made a brick. But now I have tomato with USB print server!

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:none so far in my testing

Pros:CheapWorks with Tomato and DD-WRT firmware
Comment:
I bought this on boxing day for $25.99 (after $10 mail-in rebate). Once unboxed, I loaded up Tomato firmware and its been running great ever since. I stream video files onto my TV (connected to my laptop) in the living room and I used to get a lot of internet slow-downs when playing games or browsing the web in another room. Now with this new router and Tomato, it seems there is less lag with other web browsing when I am streaming video. Definitely recommend this product and flashing with Tomato. Also, if you have time, look up how to set up QoS if you have multiple streams going and want to ensure your internet browsing is not affected.

ASUS WL-520GU Wireless Router 802.11B/G Up to 125MBPS 4PT 10/100 W/ USB Print Server
Cons:Single antenna for rx/txCPU not fast enough

Pros:DD-WRT and Tomato capableUSB port
Comment:
Purchased to replace an aging WRT54GL. The price is unbeatable when it goes on sale. The cheapest DD-WRT capable router there is with 4mb of flash and 16mb ram. Handles over 2k connections once hacked. Print server works fine, even with 2 printers on a powered USB hub. Firmware restoration mode makes this router almost brick free unlike the linksys.File sharing works straight out of the box and works with DD-WRT. However the 200mhz processor is not fast enough to transmit USB data faster than 1mb/sec, a lot slower than that most of the time.DLNA media server works with a little tweaking in DD-WRT but because of the less than 1mb/sec usb limit only lower quality xvid/divx and music can be streamed. No hope for 720p or 1080p.Highly recommend this router for someone who wants advanced control over their personal network or a linux device to tweak without spending a lot of money.

Great Router
Cons: Factory firmware is completely useless. It will start generating error messages within 10 minutes of using it. Be patient and load on a basic Open Source program of your choice. Remember, half the fun is learning how to use your hardware and the other half is inventing new swear words.

Pros: Great router, but it took me a few hours to load on Tomato to make this work. It really is a bargain if you invest the time to acquire new firmware.
Comment:
Don't update the factory shipped software. It will give you more problems if you intend to use another type of firmware.

So far so good
Cons: Original firmware's setup pages need a little work. Took longer than it should have to set up, but I did get everything done without needing to refer to the manual or any tech support.

Pros: Configured it, hooked it up, and haven't had to touch it since. Hasn't even needed to be rebooted or reset, it's just "there", always working. That's the mark of a good router.
Comment:
Bought a DDWRT capable router, just in case the original firmware sucked, but haven't had to go down that road yet.
