Card performs flawlessly in XP. Sounds very good. Software will not run in MCE 2005 so I have no handle. The manual & tech specs all indicate MCE 2005. I installed in XP SP3 and all worked

installed simple on Win XP Pro I believed it would be an upgrade from my sound blaster live, but it wasnt at all. My old sb reside card was louder and sounded just as good or greater. This card is an upgrade from onboard , I guess ???It appears like a great card ,but not significantly different from onboard sound in my opinion. I gave it three stars simply because it installed easy and it appears to be produced well.

Sounds fantastic. I'm no audiophile but there's a clear difference amongst this and onboard. There's even a slight distinction among this and the xtrememusic card. The drivers are also a lot superior, specially for win7. None that I can feel of. Dolby headphones wasn't as cracked up as individuals said, I prefer hi-fi mode. I got this card to replace my X-fi xtrememusic. For certain reasons I necessary a half height card instead of a full size card. It was a toss up among this or the xtremegamer card. Following reading a lot of evaluations I decided to go with the Xonar. It sounds a lot better than my old x-fi card truly, most noticeable when making use of headphones. Of course it's light years ahead of onboard audio.

Crystal clear sound that is a tiny louder then onboard audio.Lots of distinct audio settings.Performs with Vista 64 bit. Not substantially far better then onboard audio. If you have a great set of speakers like the Creative Gigaworks T20 series(which I am at the moment making use of) then adding this sound card won't make significantly of a difference from the on board audio. Every little thing. I had to rewrite a review due to the fact my speaker stopped working all of a sudden like some other guy that wrote a critique. Soon after an hour of trouble shooting....I found the difficulty...it was ME!!!I plugged the Wrong jacks into the Incorrect outlets...even although it worked (I had music comming from all speakers)...so ultimately, one thing DID go wrong. I plugged everything into the appropriate outlets and BAM, it works beautifully!!!! The writing on the card is so tiny, I couldn't read it till I got a magnifying glass.None. To make positive I had the appropriate speakers in the appropriate slots, I would touch all three jack plugs *one at a time* *from the 5.1 Dolby* wires, I would hear the electronic noise coming from the speakers, so the noise from the back speakers, I plugged into the "Back" Jack. The Center jack, I plugged into following Generating Confident I had electronic sound coming just from that speaker as I touched the metal, then plugged it into the jack that stated center. The dilemma is, the writing was so tiny, when I got sound to come out of all speakers, I left it alone, knowing it wasn't appropriate. Then I forgot about it. So when the speaker went dead, I was thinking, "Man, it WAS operating, now it's not???" Again, plug the speakers into the correct outlet, and all will be well.!!! If you try and switch the plugs even though the laptop or computer is operating, you will freeze your machine.Give this card a opportunity, my IT buddy stated this card is at the leading of his wish list and I am loving every single second of it.astral_overseer@yahoo.co

With Xonar D1 Audio Center application (part of its Vista X64 driver), sound high quality is amazingly crisp and dynamic right after some adjustment. With out adjustment by employing Xonar D1 Audio Center, I would say the sound quality of the card is slightly far better than Inventive X-Fi eXtreme Music. I am at the moment operating the card with a beta driver for Vista x64. There are few bugs of the driver, but overall the driver and the card work perfectly in my Windows Vista x64 environment. I highly advise it over some initially generation Creative sound cards. Honestly, it performs not as good as Inventive X-Fi series in games when talking about FPS since of slightly greater CPU utilization. I don't use my Pc equipped with Xonar D1 for gaming but just everyday tasks and music! In one more gaming Pc, I use Inventive X-Fi eXtremeGamer. If I can only use one laptop or computer for each gaming and music, I will nonetheless pick ASUS Xonar D1 because of superior sound good quality! I hope new Xonar goods can equip additional powerful processing chips. On the other hand, I assume a gamer won't be able to tell the FPS difference amongst a ASUS Xonar and Inventive X-Fi series.

it sounds good. It is alot clearer then mb onboard audio. It works with Vista 32 bit technique. Its kindof difficult to see which jack does what on the back of the card, but as soon as you hook it up it doesnt matter if you can see it. It sounds about the very same as the creative xtreme gamer card. But nevertheless quite pleased with this Asus card.

Extremely straightforward card with modest driver footprint. Access to front panel audio is a excellent function that should be on all sound cards. My recording application (Adobe Audition) will not choose up a signal so I can not use this card. I tried every single selection in the mixer and in no way got anything recorded. Also, I could not record through the rear input. Believe me, I tried every thing. My other card (an HT OMEGA Striker) and the mainboard audio (RealTek) worked instantly for recording, with no need for any tweaking on my element. So, that is a show-stopper and I am RMA'ing it. I would have loved to have kept it. Sound is okay. I mean what do you want, it's just a regular sound card. I don't play games so I cannot comment on that aspect. The rear connector that is a combo line-in/mic-in/SPDIF-out could be very limiting to some users.

This card is rock solid. The phyiscal excellent is superb. Has more than ample capacitors on the output stage and you know when you hear the relay switch clicking sound that Asus has accomplished their homework. This card's sound is vastly greater than the audio output from my Samsung BD1500 Blu-ray player. No hiss, nothing at all, zip, zero on dead silence. Drivers are straight forward and extremely small config is will need to get desired output. Runs cool. None yet.

You will hear Anything that an audio source is capable of generating. The flat default setting will, with the right audio setup, make you totally rethink your thought of high good quality audio, assuming this is an upgrade for you. The manage panel is Really good, a lot much better than anything I've seen from Creative. It has all the options you require in easy to use drop down menus or preset buttons, and the ability to tweak issues minutely to your heart's content. As of this writing, there's a good rebate on this card, making the value Additional than worth it! While I didn't purchase the card from Newegg, I would heartily advise getting it from here as their client service and turnaround time are exceptional, and I only saved a couple of bucks... The card is low profile, so it makes operating cables more than the card (like my additional USB ports) a breeze. Superior quality capacitors had been applied and the layout of the board is really organized. Though I'm not confident if this is associated to the card or my motherboard/case (I have a P5K Deluxe Wi-Fi and an Antec Nine Hundred, respectively), when I seated this card, it detected as flush, but was not fully seated when installed. This brought on my program to freeze (Windows 7 x64) and the difficulty was detected as "defective hardware". Just believed I ought to mention it... Also, if your music isn't sampled at a quite high rate, this card WILL draw attention to it. The superior your speakers, the far more you will hear it (I have a THX compatible Logitech five.1 setup). On the bright side, you have total control by way of the equalizer to repair any concerns related to range-balancing problems. As others have mentioned, the front panel use does not disable the speakers automatically, but they are disabled when you switch to the FP Headphone source, so it's just a tiny more operate (but the audio manage panel is so good, you shouldn't thoughts a bit). Grab your drivers from the internet site, they're a little bit newer. I've had a lot of success with Asus over the years, and I could effortlessly see myself making use of a newer model Xonar in the future...

I've been glowing about this card all week lengthy. It has wonderful Linux driver support. I plugged the card in the PCI slot, started Ubuntu 10.10 and the pulse audio manager picked up the card right away and allowed for choosing stereo, 5.1, 7.1 and so on. This card sounds so significantly superior than the onboard sound by means of a nice set of headphones. Nicely worth the dollars IMO. None.

Stats match the sound quality. Installation & setup were a breeze operating Windows 7 64bit release candidate. Got the optical out working right away, which is a lot more than I can say for Creative & Turtle Beach cards I have owned previously. I had to pull the Turtle Beach card out prior to installing this card. :-( I downloaded the most recent drivers from Asus. Didn't even attempt to use the included disc.

Was looking for a card to use rather of the onboard RealTek audio that was sort of written for Vista and it hasn't let me down at all. The drivers worked fantastic proper off the CD and with the computer software's equalizer and other controls it sounds seriously excellent, a definate improvement more than the RealTek. The capacitors appear very good too - no popping sounds on starup and shutdown. I haven't tried it for 5.1 or gaming due to the fact I use it for music, but possibly I will later. I don't know, price? But it seems to be extremely properly produced and I've had zero issues, so as opposed to what I've knowledgeable with other brands and with Vista in particular. Seems a good option more than onboard audio in Vista, at least for music.

Effortless install, easy drivers uncomplicated to use software. Front panel audio hookup. Quite superior sound on my Z-2300 Z-5500 combo. The manual is extremely unclear. It doesn't tell you if it desires power. I nonetheless don't know if this needs to be plugged into the psu. It doesn't appear to be necessary but im not 100% positive because the pcie version of this card requirements to.Wonderful card. Sounds very good on my 7.2 X-5500 2300 combo method:)

Sound quality is surprisingly great None so far. Just got this card, so can't comment on reliability. I have the Logitech 2300 speakers ƒ.1) and listen to a lot of music on my Pc. This is my third PCI sound card and I’ve used the onboard audio just before that. So far the Xonar has the best audio excellent of all 4 cards that I’ve utilized. It produces clear and wealthy sound that does not get tiring right after prolonged listening. A word of warning – as other posters have mentioned, tweak your settings immediacy after installing the card in order to get the finest of this card.

Overall has a small better sound excellent (in my opinion) than onboard. The key reason I purchased the card was to play video games, and even with the really latest drivers and patches from ASUS, Globe of Warcraft sounds horrible. Lots of popping and cracking and "static". Sadly for me, I quickly sent in the rebate form and now I am stuck with it. Vista Ultimate 64bit8GB RAMAMD Phenom II X3 720ASUS M4A79T Deluxe Mainboard

Right after years of cards by Creative, this card is just a cut above. I like the Hi-Fi setting and use it for everything. Regardless of what a prior reviewer indicated, this card records wonderfully. The audio in is so significantly a lot more crisp and clear than prior high finish cards I have owned. My motherboard basically has a built in Creative X-Fi which despite the fact that the crystal feature is fascinating and definately sounded excellent, it just pails when compared to this Asus card with it's relabled OxygenHD audio processor. My PS3 sounds amazing by way of this card regardless of whether Blu Rays, Streaming Net Flix, or playing a game. The create excellent is outstanding. If you are listening to music or watching video you cannot go incorrect with this card. I have not played any PC games on this card so I can\'t comment on it's EAX capabilities. You can\'t go incorrect if you are building a Property Theater PC. I advise this product without reservation. None. Pleased ears.

- clean, detailed sound- front panel connector- SPDIF out- high top quality components- no driver problems so far- intuitive control panel- reasonable price for this level of good quality - no auto detect for front panel, ought to be selected in Xonar control panel (doesn't bother me, but some people today may possibly find it inconvenient) Evaluation based on listening via Logitech X230 two.1 speakers and Sennheiser eH150 headphones. There's a lot much more to being an audiophile than most people realize, and I'm surely not there however. I can say that I really take pleasure in clean, detailed sound. The Xonar D1 satisfies abundantly. Compared to the Realtek onboard audio it replaced, tone color is richer and instruments are far more quickly distinguished. I hear subtle, crucial details that I don't keep in mind hearing with the onboard audio. My music by no means sounds harsh or artificial, but refined and natural. Vital for a headphone user, I don't will need as significantly volume to get what I need to have. Thanks to the Xonar D1, I now have an excuse to purchase the Grados I've been wanting; what the heck, why not superior speakers too?I'll leave the gaming and DVD critiques to the hardcore gamers and surround sound buffs.

Blows onboard "HD Audio" out of the water. Reveals detail and clarity that can\'t be matched by those silly motherboard chips. Included software program is effortless to navigate and adjust. Driver support from Asus is kinda meh. Microphone wants jiggling/firm insertion prior to the multi-port will recognize it. I don't know why individuals don't feel a sound card isn't important. If I had to go back to onboard I do think I'd start crying.

Easy to install. No driver/software conflicts. Tuning software program atmosphere effortless to use/master. Getting had several other sounds cards, this is the easiest atmosphere to master for a mid range card, that I have utilized. No cons just yet but I have had the card only five hours. Sound high quality is also contingent upon the good quality of the speakers utilised. The upgraded ASUS Sound Card considerably improved the sound high quality and output of the speakers.
