Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:Clumsy software and driver installation, touchy operation.

Pros:USB, no need to open up case, cheap, works well.
Comment:
AT first I was having lots of issues with this stick. From the installation, lots of reboots, to getting it to work.First, don't try to plug this into a USB hub. The installation instructions say so anyways. Also, don't use long extension cables, my 10ft USB cable did not work. Either plug it directly into a port, or use the supplied short and shielded cable. The stick is a bit bulky, and will block adjacent ports. Also, once you attach a cable to it, it will weigh down on the port connector, potentially damaging it or working itself loose, so it may be best to use the cable even if you don't need to.I got this stick to receive OTA HD TV at my computer. At first I was running into lots of issues with stuttering. Tried just about everything. I think the best solution is to make sure you have good signal strength. Using the Hauppauge Signal Monitor, 27 and higher SNR works well. 25 is a bit touchy. Anything below 25 I would get lots of stutters and pixelation (depending on what software I was using to play the picture). The recording feature on WinTV7 seems to dump the MPEG stream into a .ts file, so that's handy for capture and re-encoding.To watch OTA HD TV in Windows Media Centre, you have to force enable ATSC (DTV standard). Google "ATSC enable Canada" and hit the first link to download a patch you can run to do this for you (on experts.windows.com). Without it, WMC will only give you the option for analog TV.BTW, the stick also gets very very hot running it for even a few minutes. After working through the initial issues, where I was ready to throw the thing away, I am quite pleased with this product.

Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:Poor remote quality

Pros:Automatically detected and installed In Windows 7. Also, it finds and configures the correct ATSC Digital channels.
Comment:
I decided to check my other USB tuner to see if it will pick up the "required" ATSC (D-TV) signals that Canada is going to. Windows 7 Media Center would not allow the digital signals. I had to "patch" Media Center in order to find the digital tuner. Then the tuner never correctly found the ATSC channels.

Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:- can't get decent channels using antenna in ontario.- wintv7 is garbage.

Pros:- it works- integrates with windows media center
Comment:
I got this tuner primarily to use my computer to watch tv in my university room instead of getting a separate tv. Installation wasn't a problem. Using a cable connection I was able to get all the channels that other tvs in the house were getting. Using the antenna, I was able to get some useless analog channels and some useless hd channels, although I was able to get CBC in HD (using the tuner in Mississauga). As mentioned, don't waste your time using wintv7. I use windows media center on my windows 7 desktop and watching shows is a breeze. There are some supposedly good softwares you can get for this tuner (sage tv, beyond tv), but they're ~$100 so windows media center is your beest free alternative (if there's better, then please let me know).I am able to record live tv using windows media center and the playback is seamless for me. However, my computer is a fairly high end gaming desktop, so I'm not sure how well it would work with a laptop or worse. Also keep in mind that recording takes a lot of space (30 minute show took 2gig).

Cons: none

Pros: small, portable, easy to use
Comment:
I bought this to add PVR capabilities to my HTPC attached to my TV. I'm running my Cogeco cable into this tuner. I'm able to receive analog cable, no high definition. I'm using this tuner with Windows Media Center to record TV not the included software. I like the TV guide in WMC, it makes recording simple and fast to set up.

Cons: Delay of a few seconds when switching channelsRecording software which comes with the package is not that great

Pros: For analog cable, recording quality is goodUSB connected so it can easily be swapped between computersEasy to setup and use
Comment:
I used this mostly for recording from analog cable. It provides good quality and is easy to setup and use. There is a slight delay when switching between channels so it makes it unplayable if you wanted to hookup your gaming console to play on your computer. The recording software that comes with this product does not have many features so I would recommend finding another one. I like the ease of being able to remove and use it with a laptop. Great quality for the price.

Cons: Software included is way too basic, image quality isn't wow

Pros: Picks up ATSC signal, small, install is a breeze
Comment:
For the price, you can't beat this little tuner. Saves you from buying a TV if you're in a cramped up appartment. Overall decent product, but for image quality I'd invest a little more.

Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:The device gets warmer than other USB devices.

Pros:Digital tuner works with Linux. Has about the same sensitivity as my two year old Sharp digital tv.
Comment:
This is more a summary of how I use the device thana complete review. Basically the device is doing all Ineed.I bought this tuner so I can record some shows when Ican't watch them live. My home PC runs Linux.I watch ATSC signals and a single antenna provides thesignal to both the TV and the 950Q tuner. The signallooses 3dB from the the signal splitter and the resultingsignal is sometimes a bit weak for the TV or the 950Q.So I bought a 20dB preamp with two outlets. From thesignal level numbers I get from the TV and the 950Q I thinkthat the actual gain is closer to 9dB that 20sB. Anyway, the result is a very stable image on both the TV andthe 950Q.The other point is the software needed to use the 950Q.I can't comment on Windows software since I only use Linux. On linux, I needed the following, 1. select  kernel parameters to install the following modules. xc5000 ; digital tv au0828 ; digital tv au8522 ; digital tv 2. Either reboot or just do 'modprobe' with for the new modules (ex. 'modprobe xc5000') 3. Use Kaffeine to do a scan and watch tv. (for me the Kaffeine scan hanged after finding a station) or use basic tools as follows, 3b. Do a manual scan w_scan -fa -A1 -c US -x |tee tmpx scan -a 1 tmpx >~/.azap/channels.conf or, scan -a 1 /opt/dvb-apps/share/dvb/atsc/us-ATSC-center-frequencies-8VSB >~/.azap/allchannels.conf 4. Connect azap -a 1 -r VPT-1 5. view or register mplayer -ao sdl /dev/dvb/adapter1/dvr0 or cp /dev/dvb/adapter1/dvr0 some_file_name

Cons:Not ''real time'' TVCan't play Video game with it

Pros:Working GoodCOmpatible with WMC
Comment:
i principally buy this to replace my TV. after couple of day i tried to play Guitar Hero on it...and the lag was insane, more like 6-8 sec!!! so i tried couple of thing, and i realise that the TV show was not in realy time, probably cause the PC have to treat the signal. anyway, working very great for the stardard TV, but don't worth a $ for gamer.

Cons:Can't get CITY HD :(

Pros:Free CBC HD
Comment:
I live in Marpole area facing south so the only two channels I can pick OTA is KVOS and sometimes CBC (which is in HD). The only benefit of CBC would be watching any games... but that's about it. KVOS doesn't have any good shows.I'd imagine anyone facing North East would have a better chance of picking up more signals.

Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:Poor reception, very poor software

Pros:Compact size, portable, does what it claims
Comment:
I didn't expect to pick up any OTA HD signals in Victoria, so I don't blame this unit for not doing so. It did pick up a few local stations.Even with cable connected, the reception on this unit isn't as good as my Hauppauge PVR-150 units. Unless portability matters, or you're using a laptop, stick with the PCI-based solutions and avoid this unit. The software is terrible. Didn't work well with Vista or 7, and is just poorly written and unintuitive. Assuming you can get the drivers working properly (stick with Hauppauge's site for the latest) try some other PVR-type software -- you'll be much happier.

Cons:The picture quality is really grainy

Pros:It works and setup was a breeze (on Windows 7)
Comment:
The picture quality on this TV tuner is less than desirable. The colors are faint and the image is constantly grainy. No, it is not my cable signal... It is connected to a splitter that also feeds my Sony Bravia, and the picture quality on my Bravia is great. Fortunately, setup is entirely hassle-free in Windows 7. With internet connection it is 100% plug and play.

Cons:heats upoften crasheshad to download new drivers from website

Pros:smalldecent picture
Comment:
This is a good thing to have, much better than buying a new TV. After installing it I got a "No Signal" problem. I went to the website listed in the troubleshooting instructions and downloaded new drivers, then it worked. One really irritating thing is that it very often (like half the time) freezes when I try to change channels. Then I have to ctrl-alt-delete  and close both of its applications in Task Manager, and start up again. I am running Vista, maybe on Windows 7 it doesn't do this. Also, it gets very hot and if it's not elevated somewhere then it just automatically shuts off. I have to hang it over my laptop with the cable to maximize heat dissipation. They should have made it with a large external heat sink.

Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:- dinky/flimsy little remote control (will not work with windows media center unfortunately)- winTV v7 is buggy and unstable- a little bit resource hungry when watching tv

Pros:- good image quality for analog television- very portable (i can swap this between my laptop or desktop pc)- works brilliantly with windows 7 and media center
Comment:
The tv tuner software (winTV v7) that comes with the tuner is not that great. I found it to be buggy and crashed quite a bit so that's why I switched to windows 7 media center and it's amazing. The downside is that the dinky little remote control is useless with media center and you will need a media center-compatible remote control (got the pcusa remote control). The picture quality is very nice for analog tv and I'm able to get all of Shaw's basic cable tv channels. One of the weaknesses I mentioned is that the tv tuner is somewhat resource hungry for viewing tv because it's acting like a pvr. I haven't tried recording tv shows yet since my primary use is to just watch tv on my computer.Overall, It's a decent product.

Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:Remote is horrible

Pros:Value, I say value now, but in the next year it will be a normal price. Given that the US has gone totally digital, this thing is nearly obsolete for the largest market.
Comment:
Although I have yet to test the capture abilities of this device, I have to admit it is very handy. I do not own a TV, nor want one, but as anyone should know, when you get high speed internet from a cable service provider, it also enables a score of analog channels that are unable to be filtered and thus you get free TV. Unless of course they apply filters to stop you.A decent little USB device for a decent price tag. Will work great when I go to New York.

Comment:
I live in Richmond and I have very weak signal, only got 2 analog and 1 digital channels, the antenna come with only provide better weak signal, I found a hard time to get a better antenna, if anyone know where i can get a better and stronger signal Antenna in Vancouver, please let me know. Aqua Tech LP-NTZ II Flat Port for Nikon 70-200mm f/2.8 VR II Lens
Cons:WinTV software is adequate, can do better use Watch HDTV. The one I received had hardware issues

Pros:Excellent tuner (6th Generation XC5000), portable, compatible with Vista MC
Comment:
Setup was relatively painless (download the latest software from Hauppauge, don't use the included)OTA ATSC reception was excellent, even with the dinky little included antenna (Had to hack Vista MC to get it to work, as OTA ATSC is not supported if you enter your region as Canada)However after 5-20mins of watching TV whatever app I was using to watch would freeze, only way to clear it up was a reboot. Tried on two computers, 3 different Vista installs, various software Vista MC, WinTV6, WinTV7, WatchHDTV .. all with the same result. I know others have had good luck with this product but not me... Hauppage technical support is very unsatisfactory ... many google searches indicated an overheating problem or defective hardware.Seems to be an excellent product, maybe some QA issues in manufacturing. Wish Hauppauge had the XC5000 tuner chip on it's PCIe tuner products.. it is outstanding..

Pros:Portable, goes well with a laptopWorks with Harmony Remotes
Comment:
Location reception issues is the main issue for the low score.Purchasing the 950Q for my laptop, I got only one station in the living room. Moving the laptop & antenna to a South facing window, I got a few more USA stations. Moving to a North facing window, I got Canadian stations. Taking this a friends on a high hill, I got better reception on stations that didn't work at my house. It's not just how many stations you can receive, but also picture quality. Some of the acquired stations are just unwatchable at my viewing locations. Perhaps that will change in the coming years as stations have stronger broadcast  towers.I also purchased a Terk HDTVa antenna to see if the 950Q could replace my Shaw service. I'm keeping the Shaw service.I plan to keep the 950Q because it will work when I'm travelling around town. But don't recommend it to others who plan to replace their current cable systems.Yes, my box DID come with a remote. The remote will fit inside my PCMICA slot, but not newer laptops with ExpressCard. However I prefer to use my Harmony Remote for my big thumbs.

awesome tuner from hauppauge. i recently bought a mobo here and was hoping the onboard sound would cut it as i have 2 pvr 150 cards and wasn't going to give one up. the onboard sound was not up to snuff so i bought one of these to replace one of my tuners. quick install and works very well. i only use one card from my digital box anyway so it was no issue to have the cable go to this and i'm back up and running. aside from if the tuner dies (i have had my pvr 150's for 2 years running on and off 24/7 with no problems) life is good.

Comment:
A handy gadget that can make your laptop into a TV. The included dipole antenna isn't half bad. I can pick up 5 HD US channels from my office overlooking downtown. Suggest you use another program like Beyond TV, since the bundled software is not very easy to use. Included ATSC signal strength bar is handy.
