None Like other reviewers, 1st one was DOA - paid to send back for a replacement and the second a single worked for two days prior to failing also. Now my original obtain date is past the RMA window and I cannot get credit for this. Obtain an additional brand!

None since it never worked. I could hear loose aspect inside when I took it out of the box. It under no circumstances worked. It under no circumstances worked. I contacted Newegg but determine it is not worth it for the price and time to ship it back to Newegg for replacement. I nevertheless have it sitting on my shelf and maybe it is time for me to throw it out. Other organizations normally have a prepaid label for consumer to return damaged/defective components. Newegg is a excellent spot for low cost computer aspect supplies. I fully grasp the explanation of their minimal buyer service support to sustain low overhead. But the poor packing is undoubtedly not aspect of the price savings. I am arranging to support my friends and colleagues build Computer's just for enjoyable and Newegg most most likely be the place that I will order parts. Nonetheless, I do not want to take my opportunity if they continue to ship broken components to buyers.

Worked completely when it was hooked up to USB 2. None, Drive performs effectively. I bought this drive for a client who necessary to access information from a floppy on a modern laptop that lacked a floppy drive. I bought this item, hooked it into their usb hub on their desk for convinence. Bytecc's website states this drive is USB 1.1, but USB 1.1 does not provide enough energy for the drive to operate at complete power, it calls for 500mA to function properly which only USB two. supplies. The hub on my clientele desk was USB 1.1 so I had to use an extension cable to attain from the back of the laptop to the prime of the desk. This drive has a 2ft cable.

Performs with plug and play in XP, no additional drivers needed. Out of 15 diverse floppies, this drive could only read five.My preceding floppy drive read 14 of the identical 15 floppies with no difficulty. Also the LED indicating read/write was burnt out right out of the package. Don't buy this affordable piece of junk. The only explanation it has two eggs instead of 1 is mainly because it was no-brain installation in XP.

It prevented me from needing to send my Mini 9 in to Dell after bricking it with one of their own BIOS updates. HAAALLLLLELUJAH!!! Practically nothing on Newegg or BYTECC, but the only con was the reality I necessary a floppy drive, in this day and age, to fix my challenge in the very first spot... DANG YOU DELL!!! If you have a floppyless laptop, like I, and come across oneself in the rare situation where you require a single...this should fit the bill perfectly. Newegg rocks. BYTECC rocks. But floppy disks suck!!! Come on hardware/software makers...uncover a way for us to put the floppy to rest permanently already...SHEESH!!!

i HATE floppies! so, i usually omit these worthless devices from my builds; nevertheless, some individuals insist on having win xp for their operating method and microsoft insists on NOT integrating a general SATA driver as they did with Vista (different situation and driver structure, but i am sure they can figure anything out). nicely, i use this little thing for these installs and that's it. Windows XP installer detects it and is in a position to study drivers off of it. none so far.

Excellent tiny floppy - it does what it needs to. Operates with anything, and boots as a removable device in most BIOS. USB 1.1, but with the transfer of a floppy, who cares? Like you're even going to strategy 11Mbit/s with a floppy drive... The only factor most persons want a floppy for presently is an F6 for Windows XP reinstallation. Vista and 7 can read USB flash drives (or CD-ROM, or DVD), but XP doesn't know how. (Then once more, XP is a 7 year old OS.) This little infant does the trick when you want it! Or at least it's generally accomplished the trick on every laptop/iMac I've ever utilized it on.

well it operates like its suppose to, it can be utilized as a boot drive. none so far i had some old photographs on floppy disks that i wanted to transfer to my new computer, and it didnt come with a floppy drive installed. when i hooked it up and began trying to transfer the photographs it made a lot of noise and didnt recognize the disks. i attempted utilizing some brand new floppys and it read them fine. the disks i had must have been so old they wouldnt function any longer. i dont consider it was the device that wasnt functioning proper. so much for my images.

Windows 7 detects the drive and has no problems reading or writing from/to it. When asked to format an unformatted diskette it from time to time fails to recognize there is a disk in the drive.l It will ultimately recognize the disk and format it properly, but this is one particular location exactly where it can be a bit fussy. I didn't take off an egg for this as it could also be a function of the diskettes becoming employed because this is old technologies. The instruction manual says it comes with a carrying case. The carrying case turns out to be the plastic bag it is shipped in.

Smaller, compact and inexpensive. Functions for OS set up floppy demands. a bit flimsy and hade a brief USB cord. about 3' or on meter. Was able to use it to install driver for a SATA controller during a XP install. No much more installing a floppy for 3 minutes of use.

I can confirm that it does certainly function with Windows XP F6 driver install throughout setup. Worked flawlessly. When you want a single you'll be delighted you've got a single. None. If you've got a relatively recent Pc with a SATA storage controller, you've almost certainly needed a floppy disk to be capable to install Windows XP on the SATA hard drive. This USB floppy drive seems to be the only one particular on NewEgg that will function in that scenario. Most recent retail motherboards don't include the floppy disk with the pre-set up drivers. It is a good notion to have a different system handy to be in a position to develop the floppy disk with the drivers you require before you begin the install.

Since I'm unable to edit my prior review, I have to create up an additional one to update.Following emailing Byteccc's RMA dept at rma@byteccusa.com, I got a response telling me that the บ shipping fee you're supposed to send them with your item is only to cover heavy products (ie over 3lbs). So I guess if you have to ship this item back to them as defective, at least you don't have to pay for them to ship it back to you right after you spend to ship it to them. I still believe that's unacceptable. I understand the customer getting to spend to ship the defective item back to the organization. I don't like it, as it wasn't the buyer's fault they got a defective item, but I get it... you have to drive back to a storefront if you understand your item is broken when you get property yadda yadda yadda... got it. But requiring the consumer to have to send you ANY funds to ship ANY replacement back is unacceptable to me, regardless of the size of the item. The customer was inconvenienced in getting a defective solution... so the firm's going to kick them when they're down and demand the client pay them to ship the replacement? Ridiculous. Even with the e-mail they sent me telling me I didn't have to pay them to ship the replacement, I nevertheless think I'm going to go with a different brand. How do consumers inform a corporation that they don't agree with their practices? They move to an additional brand/company. /soapbox

twoǙ of the drives I ordered haven't failed...however. If they fail as well, I'll be back to take away the other egg. The one particular that failed isn't worth having to spend for shipping both ways, as per Byteccc's finish-user RMA policy.I guess you get what you pay for, but you shouldn't have to pay a lot for legacy hardware anyway. Due to a legacy plan in my office, I was forced to buy several USB floppy drives when I migrated my workplace to Win7.I bought, received and handed out the drives, and all seemed nicely until a single of my users came to me asking me for my private floppy drive, considering that the a single I gave him wasn't working with his method. Not pondering something of it, I lent him mine and figured I'd delve into troubleshooting his method at a later time. By the time I'd gotten to his technique to troubleshoot and realized the drive was defective, it was just under 2 months later.I went to Byteccc's RMA page (http://www.byteccusa.com/RMA.htm), and saw that I was to fill out a type and send it to them and await them to authorize the RMA. No difficulty, until I saw that when it was authorized, I'd have to send them a check for บ for return shipping. So not only did I get a defective product for ~ฤ and had to ship it back on my own dime, I also had to pay for them to ship it BACK!.And onto a new bra

Operates on XP Initially one failed intermittently. RMA’ed.Tried to set up F6 RAID drivers for Windows XP with second one. It allowed the driver to load and format the RAID drive but did not let windows to reload the driver to continue installing windows. I purchased this for F6 only. The excellent is terrible. Don't know why it won't read the driver the second time. I suspect a hardware dilemma.
