Rugged. High capacity. Very good cost. Quickly Read. Exceedingly slow write, a known difficulty with this line of flash drives. Not certain how common it is - but I got a refund from Newegg on mine because some are identified to be faulty.

I carry this drive day-to-day in my pocket along with my keys. It gets treated extremely roughly. It never misses a beat. I replaced the original split rings and chain with more rugged things I had laying around. I also loaded TrueCrypt encryption software program and have the drive segmented into a 12 gb encrypted storage virtual disk and four gb unencrypted. Functions good. A small bit slow, but not too negative, and worth the trade off for the ruggedness. I have owned this drive for around two years now. I still carry it day-to-day at function in my pocket. It appears somewhat beat up, but operates perfectly. I am acquiring a different.

Most rugged drive you can acquire, a cap that will in no way fall off to be lost forever, and a 10 year warranty (which after two years of ownership/abuse one particular side of the casing broke, not the drive itself which was fine, and warranty went smooth and shipped lightning rapid) I place it on my key ring and right after two years the metal that held it on had been bent actually negative (BUT DID NOT BREAK... just looked like it would at any second) Any other drive I would have put on my keyring would have broken after three months, this factor stood the test of time and the organization stands by their warranty. Can't wait for them to make a USB three. version so I can purchase a higher capacity a single!

Waterproof, shockproof, and so forth and so on. Fundamentally thats the reason I purchased this. I am the IT administrator of a massive auto-wrecking yard, vehicle repair shop, and a wellness care provider. It can take all the abuse of using it day after day in those environments. I also do alot of boating and I dont be concerned about it when launching my boat or retrieving it at the dock. Persons misunderstand the idea of this drive from the appears of alot of these evaluations.... Its hard and that should be your no. 1 explanation for buying. none It could be considerably quicker but a super quick usb key that fell in an oil spill or wouldnt do me considerably excellent.

Incredibly tough and waterproof. When the drive is in it's case, no ordinary accident is going to damage it. It is a bit heavier and bulkier than I'd prefer. I typically wear a flash drive on my lanyard with my perform ID and this one particular flops about like a pendulum and loudly slaps my belt buckle when I walk. When plugged in to a Pc, it does stick out a lot and I'm afraid one day I'll snap it off. I frequently bike to function and commute involving several offices. I will need a drive huge sufficient to hold all my operate data so I can operate from any Computer and be waterproof if my backpack gets soaked in a downpour. This drive does the job. Of course, a tiny tiny drive in a ziplock bag would do, but this one particular looks far more impressive!

No pros. The solution transfers data at USB 1. speeds. If you go to their site, you will discover a FAQ about their GT series. It states the new GTs are slower due to the fact they no longer use the fast chips they used to. I think the similar applys to the Survivor. According to the FAQ, the business truely believes shoppers must be satisfied with the slower product and offers no recourse for refunds or other options. I would not buy any Corsair items. This business is deceptive and does not believe in supplying the best solutions for their buyers. They need to not be in enterprise.

It has high capacity for a decent value but most of all this point is seriously rugged! I havent had quite a few accidents with it but I not too long ago bent the plug (only piece you can seriously break on it) and it stopped functioning. I decided to solder the plug back. I had to cut this factor with a hack saw to get to the internals!!! Incredibly hard make! A bit slow. Avg about 6-8MB create and about 20MB study. Not negative but I've heard there are more quickly ones. oh well, very good sufficient.

To open the drive, you unscrew the Flash Drive physique from it's aluminum housing and plug it in to a USB port to use it. There is a purpose they contact this point Survivor. It is constructed to survive intense environments. No Cons. I just want to say that the Corsair Survivor 16GB Flash Drive may well not be the quickest, smallest, cheapest, or the most cuteist USB Flash Drive, but for men and women who want to defend their data this is the very best that there is availble today. Corsair had a sizable rebate on this Flash drive which produced the price extremely economical. 16GB's of storage is an best size for a Flash Drive. Transfer speeds are fantastic for its class, the casing is incredibly similar to dry match case for hunting. I have dropped it, my dog has chewed it, and no damage was performed at all. This was a very good solution for me due to the fact I was sick of obtaining flash drives mainly because they broke. none a fantastic flash drive if you want/need physical defend

Good packaging, didn't want a sharp tool to open it. *.*Yes anything.... no actually, everything! I can honestly say in my 13 years of IT engineering practical experience, this hands down is the worst usb/jump drive item I have ever utilised. The bottom line is that this unit is so slow, it fully invalidates the use of the storage space. On a number of different machines, all confirmed USB 2., and brand new quad core setups. NTFS, Exfat, NTFS. Transferring a 8-9 gig single image file, this factor took about 65 minutes. As a preceding reviewer posted, this device really should be marketed at USB 1. speeds. I have an old Lexar jump drive 1gb that is 80x and was purchased back in 2001, and it smokes this unit like a top fuel dragster, compared to a geo metro. Stay away from this item at all cost, thats the bottom line, and because Stone Cold mentioned so. Corsair, you really should be truly embarrased and ashamed of putting out such trash item like this. I ought to have known much better and followed my gut instincts when I saw the package, and the speed was not listed anywhere. I will never get a different Corsair item!

Like the title says it slow but certain. Really slow create speed but a seriously nice device.I enjoy havng this on my keychain to connect to my auto Kenwood 5120 stereo/GPS, it holds all of my music securely. Slow write speed and a little rubber seal on the inside is effortlessly lost when open and that's the only drawbacks.

It's built like no other. I bought it for the metal since I kept breaking other flash drives off my keychain. 16 GB is a lot of storage for my everyday transfers in between property and work. Soooooooo slooooow. I transfer a lot of little files, couple kb. What employed to take about 2 minutes on the last three flash drives I utilised takes up to 7-ten mins. It really is ridiculous. As talked about in other evaluations, large files Ɠ+ MB) transfer more rapidly but nonetheless really feel slower than standard flash drives. Corsair rep mentioned that the speeds were continual with the "standard speeds" primarily based on the test app they had me run on the drive, but I'm confident it's testing with big files and not a much of tiny files like internet content. I am searching for a faster drive built as nicely as this but have but to uncover 1 with a metal essential chain point. 3 eggies for the toughness which is now a requirement, but not four or 5 since everyday I transfer files and it's like watching my life tick away at fiveᚨp waiting to go house.

The "Survivor" title is indeed warranted. This point can survive a vast quantity of abuse. Can not format to NTSF. This is truly the only draw backs for me. A answer to this is making use of a free system named "The File Splitter." This can resolve the maximum 4GB file size concern. There has been a good deal of discussion about the speed of this drive. I have identified that the drive is not as slow as some protest. Though I do have to say that the drive is not lightning quickly it does execute well sufficient fpr the storage space and the durability of the drive. One tiny factor, the rubber on the cap rotates. I ended up super gluing mine and it ended up getting just perfect. I glued beneath the rubber and rotated it and let it set. No much more issue with that. If I didn't glue it, the rubber probably would have gotten lost. If durability of a flash drive is what you are definitely concerned about surely get this drive. You will not be disappointed. This drive will not give you lightning quickly transfer speeds you may well discover elsewhere else but this drive will guarantee your data is secure through physical protection and electronic encryption via True Crypt. I have suggested this drive to various people, a few of which decided to acquire one particular and exactly where glad they did so.

-Feels sturdy as opposed to other flash drives i have had.-Bought it so i could back up all my school operate and lab data. Wanted anything i knew wouldnt get ruined in my pocket or on my keychain and I feel like Corsair delivered.-Produced by corsair will need i say much more! None so far I understand that having the "connection" to my keychain attached to the physical flash drive delivers additional protection against loosing it. That getting stated, I generally have to get rid of it from my keychain (due to weight difficulties) and then unscrew it to use it. This entire obtaining to take away it from my keychain appears to defeat the goal of attempting to retain from losing it. Personally it feels weird to me and perhaps would choose the case aspect be connected to my keychain and the flashdrive itself unscrew from the case/keychain. Just a random believed and not a complaint. Have usually been impressed with my Corsair products and so far this is no various.
