In spite of some of the critiques, this cooler works quiet nicely and is straightforward to install. Keeps my 1090T BE nice and cool. The fan on the cooler isn't loud either. Just a good quiet hum to it The thermal paste that comes with it is really little. I had just sufficient to get the job performed. Subsequent develop I'll order some seperately. Its OK while it works. See CONS! The fan stopped working immediately after a year. It has two year warranty. On 12.20.2010 I issued a RMA. Almost three months later the status is:"part request is pending"If it breaks, do not rely on CM consumer service. It is non-existent! Or they assume that my machine can work 6 mo with no cooling... I did read some of the reviews and one guy stated that he waited 8 (eight) months for his component. A lot of complains about the exact same issues. BEWARE! I am sorry that I bought so quite a few parts from this firm. It shouldn't be supported. Its shame. Manufacturer Response:Dear Valued Customer - We apologize for any inconvenience. Please contact us via the Live Chat link beneath with your ticket number/part request number in hand so we can get this rectified for you. i have had this in my laptop or computer for over a year and it still works fantastic.in particular if you like to overclock. it is a massive cooler so make sure you have a major sufficient case. i have a coolmaster stacker case and had to take 1 of the 120mm fans out on the side door and thats a full atx case. well worth the purchase no cons superior fan like i stated just make certain you have sufficient room in your case. it will hog up alot room but do some excellent cooling

Wow this factor cools terrific I run the core i7 3.two in an ANTEC 900 case. I have yet to see the temp rise above 30 degrees under regular load it’s at about 17. Looks wonderful as effectively Not definitely a con I guess but with my Antec 900 case and the motherboard I run EVGA X58 FTW3 the board mounts the processor up rather high. I had to trim some of the plastic of the V8 to make it fit in the case. When the door cover is on you can’t notice any way so idk I installed by myself and this was my first construct these people that whine that you need to have two sets of hands?? Truly eh? I had no problems what so ever. If your searching for a Cooler that does a excellent job and at the similar time looks mean appear no further!

This cooler brought my idle temps on my I 7-950 down from 42c, to 31c. Load temps went from high 60's c to low 50's c, in my Antec 1200 case. It cools down quite quickly after loads. MB temps are steady at 31c.Logo side up on the cooler fan blows to its proper. Upside down to the left, or rear of case. Big! I had to slightly modify my door fan, Not a big deal at all. Fan direction is not very easily reversable without removing the MB.Most of the heat is blown out of the cooler best, and bottom, not the sides. It works effectively. Just be positive you make a decision fan direction Prior to install.Im pleased with its performance!

Cooler Master V8 Aluminum/Copper Heatpipe CPU Cooler w/120mm Fan
Comment:
This factor is wicked. It's quite big, and comes with a tube of thermal paste that can be utilized 2 or 3 times. It can be employed with a lot of various socket size CPUs, both Intel and AMD. It also comes with a control knob that mounts in a pci slot cover on the back of the case. Cools like a charm and doesn't make any noticeable noise. None Soon after reading some of the reviews about how hard it was to install, I got a little worried but it was a piece of cake for me. I didn't have any problems at all. It took me about 10 minutes to install on the mobo and that's with reading the directions.

Brilliant cooler, works as advertised, even when OCed processor remains around 50C none A lot of men and women complain the cooler is extremely huge, check you case specs before you buy, Cooler Master has specs on its site, if you have a 120mm fan you are probably okay.

Cons: Size could be a serious weakness depending on your case.

Pros: Very cool and quiet
Comment:
Took me 10 minutes to install this thing. I don't think it could have been easier. I put it in a Cooler Master HAF 932 and had plenty of room, although it is massive. I would suggest doing some measurements before you order. Even when I overclock my system and turn all the fans up to max this thing is still very silent. I was going to use liquid cooling but I decided on the V8 because I like quiet. I love this heatsink and would strongly suggest it to anyone who has a large enough case. If you have doubts, watch the video. Very high quality mounting parts and excellent packaging.

Cooler Master V8 Aluminum/Copper Heatpipe CPU Cooler w/120mm Fan
Cons: I didn't use it (Arctic Silver 5), but the thermal paste probably sucks

Pros: Cooling performance and seems to be well made, works on several sockets.
Comment:
Great cooling performance. I may need to reseat/re-thermal-paste but my Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 at stock settings now runs 31, 31, 35, 35 Celicus for the 4 cores, consecutively. Before this they ran an average of 56 Celius across the 4 cores with stock cooler. It takes longer to install, but I feel a lot more comfortable having the heatsink mounted securely from the back of the motherboard.

Pros: Very quiet, excellent cooling. Strong and secure attachment to the motherboard. Looks great.

A great heatsink, keeps my cpu very cool. Fits in my antec sonata III case. Was able to overclock my amd x3 2.8ghz to a quad at 3.4. Might be able to go higher... but no need. I'm very happy with this heatsink. It's whisper quiet (can't hear it) and provides excellent cooling. A very tall heatsink so make sure it will fit in your case before buying. I didn't have any problems installing on a new build. I would buy this heatsink again. Highly recommended especially if you want a silent case. Note: Manual is incorrect, please check coolermaster website for proper orientation. Manual that came with the heatsink is wrong and shows the v8 as "upside down" when installing.

Sorry but did not buy from ncix but just as a heads up this thing is awsome. OC a 1055t to 3.5, my idle is 18c and hums at 28c. During extream benchmarks i have never seen it go past 34c EVER and temp drops like a stone when the demand is off the cpu. Looks huge in my midsize case but who cares it looks like a v8 engine in there. I am going to mod with a faster red lite fan for extra bling. Great addition to a system even if you dont oc.

This thing drop ped my core temps on an overclocked AMD Kuma 7750 to an impossible 23c idle, in a 26c room. TMPIN0 reports more like 30c which is still a significant drop  then the 47c idle I had on stock amd cooler. Load at TMPIN0 reports no more then 41c, stock amd cooler had low 60c's.The V8 looks fantastic, and I bought it even after seeing all the reviews on installation on the interwebs. Its the most brainless, painless, installation ever. Motherboard access hole or not. You put some screws into your cpu bracket of choice, you put some sticky rubber washers on some screws, you pop it onto your motherboard, you go round back of the motherboard, slide the backplate on, and bolt it down. Simple.Red LED's are a bit dim, might replace fan with a fully LED'd one. Price to performance and looks really is unbeatable, get this cooler, V6 be damned, I have a V8.

Cooler Master V8 Aluminum/Copper Heatpipe CPU Cooler w/120mm Fan
Cons: None.

Pros: Incredible air-cooling capacity, little noise, easy installation and light on weight.
Comment:
After opening the box the first thing that came to mind was how light this cooler was. It is quite large, and obviously will not fit in all cases, but I managed to pack it into my Coolermaster Storm Scout after removing the top exhaust fan. The majority of weight is actually centred around the contact plate, which is kept real close to the motherboard. The majority of size is of little mass, mostly consisting of aluminum and plastic. Initially I was worried that extending weight out from the based would cause CPU/MB damage, but that is really not of concern. Unless you through your computer around like a ball.At stock settings, the CM V8 keeps my i7 930 at 20C idle and less than 30C under load. I will amend this review when I dive into over-clocking my CPU, but I have a lot of optimism this cooler will give me what I need.PS. Working around the cooler after installation in anything else other than a full tower can be frustrating and time consuming, but still doable.

This is the first heat sink I have ever purchased. I've always used the stock coolers with the CPU. I have a AMD phenom X4 965 BE and was having problems with over heating, especially when I ran my GSkill RAM (2x2G 1600) at full 1600 clock. I would get CPU temps of over 64 degrees. I installed the CM V8 this evening and I already notice a huge difference. I bumped my Ram back up to 1600 and over clocked my CPU to 3.8 Ghz and with a 30% load I'm running at about 45 degrees. I imagine once the thermal compound cures I will notices a slight improvement on the great cooling I'm already experiencing. So far so good.

we put this on an i3, and over clocked it up to 4ghz, the crazy thing kept the cpu down below 35 degrees! Its a huge beast, in fact it is so tall it got in the way of the door fan, but we just took it off, its not amazingly needed anyway with all of the other fans in the case. Its so worth the money

first time fan install
Comment:
WOW, I know that people say this is big, but you really don't get how big it is till you take it out of the box! I have a full size Cooler Master Case with a clear side panel and the V8 is half an inch from hitting the side! But I gotta admit it works very well and you can control the fan speed from the back of your case with a control knob that takes up a port. Have an I-5 750 core processor and have the fan spped at full speed all the time and my computer has never worked better!!! So I bought another one for the other computer I am installing with the same type of equipment.

Comment:
Never had purchased or installed a heat sink unit before. Had to remove my motherboard to get it installed properly but overall install went very smoothly. Product fit into case fine and having the specs online were helpful to ensure proper measurement. The unit is not too lound and operates well with my machine. I'd recommend this unit to others.
