Very first Dlink delivers you the capability to play with an interface emulator on their web site. The emulator provides you a likelihood to see how easy/difficult setup will be and what capabilities the router has to provide. This capacity was really a huge selling point for me. You can also download all the documents ahead of hand to develop into familiar with the characteristics or decide if it is the proper router for you.Actual setup(using all custom settings) took only a few minutes and worked appropriate from the commence and nevertheless going strong. I haven't had any drops or concerns that my earlier router was experiencing.Signal strength for me is excellent, using an iBooks with airport extreme cards I have full signal all through my single story home. No difficulty with walls or doors in the way the signal remains full strength. Also making use of mixxed signal (g and n) has caused no difficulties so far.Advanced functions are all there if you so will need, port forwarding, advanced DNS, DMZ and and so on. A lot of the setting modifications require a reboot and a 15 second wait. It is not a huge deal as they have techniques that enable you to make a number of modifications then apply all at as soon as but it is worth noting. Changing the router clock calls for a reboot...The power adapter brick is oddly shaped and doesn't fit properly in my surge protector.I seriously want to add far more to the cos but I can't assume of any from my experience yet. Appears like a properly built router and hopefully time will prove that correct. Over all I am pleased with the setup and efficiency compared to my earlier router. For the price tag you can't go incorrect for a standard wireless router. It doesn't have all the functions of the more pricey routers but then I don't have computers that can make use of those more high-priced characteristics.

Nearby network functions fantastic. Quickly local speeds, wired ports work without a hitch. Looks nice. Following about 3-4 weeks of otherwise typical function, the router began dropping the connection to the net randomly, initially just about every couple of days or so, and now it does this much more than once a day. Additionally, when it DOES work, the router broadcasts unacceptable speeds (around 200-300kbps). I live in a university dormitory with a fiber-optic connection. I get somewhere in between 60-90 mbps connection speed straight out of the wall. My roommates and I decided to pool our cash and buy a smaller router so we could all use our laptops at the exact same time, so I went to Newegg and bought this one. It worked flawlessly for the initially couple of weeks, and then began to randomly drop the signal from the web. I attributed this to feasible IT difficulties on the university's portion and reset the router. Nevertheless, the challenge continued a lot more and a lot more frequently, and now I have to reset it at least twice a day. And when it finally functions, it is extremely slow. 70 megs out of the wall shouldn't equal 200-300 kbps over wireless. Other than the Very annoying networking problems, this router functions quite nicely. I couldn't give it a lot more than one egg though. Very disappointing, thinking about my family members purchased a D-Link N+ router in 2007 and it nonetheless functions perfectly.

Really east to set up. Compact and can fit nearly anyplace. Signal isn't the greatest but I live in a fairly old house and the router is in the 1 room that was an addition to the old structure so that's a pro. None. I got this simply because the price tag was fairly low cost and it had a 10.00 rebate. Saved 20 bucks so i believe it was absolutely worth it.

- Easy to setup, it was up and operating in much less than ten minutes- Easy to secure (WEP, WPA, WPA2, WPATM and WPATM2 )- It has a CD wizard but I prefer the manual setup- Good signal coverage. Installed in the basement and the signal reaches the 2nd floor. I was expecting this router to cover the basement and 1st floor only.- A PC, several laptops and various mobile devices (BB, iPhones & Android) are connected to this router with concerns. none yet - To take advantage of the IEEE 802.11 N speeds and coverage, all devices connected need to support IEEE 802.11 N.- If you have several floors to cover you may well want to look into other solutions.

Dlink tech support was in particular impressive. I could not get my residence hosted zoneedit domain to work. Ports were forwarded properly, all setup properly, which support verified. They answered the telephone speedily and elevated my issue. Even known as me back later in the afternoon. Turns out the difficulty was with my zoneedit DNS update and not the router, which I found on my own. Replaced my old Linksys B which was acquiring flakey. N150, but almost certainly just fine for me in my atmosphere. This router was too great of a deal to pass up. Plenty of port forwarding selections, and the GUI was straightforward to navigate.

Good range, fantastic size. The Admin interface is considerably superior than D-Link routers I have had in the past. My last Dlink router lasted four years, I am hoping for the similar form this 1. This component cost me 5 hours worth of function... It seems the firmware that gets shipped with the router is NOT compatible with SIP VOIP boxes. If you try to run your SIP with the default firmware you will not be in a position to send any outgoing commands to your VOIP server. Don't bother with port forwarding or DMZ, none of it will help. It just can't deal with voip adapters that are not NAT friendly (i.e Sipura, kinds like Vonage are NAT friendly and function fine even with the 1.00 firmware). That stated, they have version 1.01 of the firmware readily available, but you have to manually download it to your computer system then upgrade your firmware. If you just have the router check for updates it will not see the 1.01 as a viable upgrade. When you upgrade your firmware your SIP box will begin operating.

Price was cheap - ฤNo issues so far with hardline or wireless, net works about as effectively as it does when connected to the modem.Dependable name brand. The setup was a little trickier than most routers but not terribly difficult or something. After all, it's a router, I perform in IT, and it's meant to attempt and be consumer friendly.I didn't like how the default IP was 192.168..1 as this was the exact same as my modem and triggered me a lot of headaches early on as to why the net wasn't syncing up. There might have also been some other troubles too, but eventually I got almost everything working. The CD is pointless as always, just throw it in the trash. Individuals who don't know how to configure a router must not be buying them. Each hardline and wireless speeds are extremely slow, but I'm guessing that it's much more my net provider than the router. (I have a pokey five meg DSL connection) Decent replacement for my bricked Linksys 610. It's a wireless N Draft router at a bargain basement price. If you're on a budget, then it is surely worth the buy.

- Looks good- Great download speeds- Fairly deep UI for a consumer router- LEDs aren't blindingly bright like other routers- Has good range if you solder a new antenna onto it.- 32 megs of ram, Atheros 400 MHz chipset- Firmware is Linux based- Can deal with DD-WRT and gargoyle firmware to an extent - Awful, awful range for any router; five bars in my room, 2 bars in the hallway, 1 bar at the finish of the home. Prepare to do some soldering if you want any decent range at all.- Loves to disconnect instant messaging programs and some on-line games every 6-ten minutes- Has intermittent problems with acquiring WAN IP- Commence up time is rather slow These are the exact same issues I had with the stock firmware, and even with the latest firmware I have the exact same complications. The sad portion is that most of them all fall back to faulty firmware. The range on it was so bad that I couldn't get online at all at the finish of my residence, which isn't specifically large by any implies.I purchased this router for almost absolutely nothing in a sale downtown. I'm pleased I didn't pay full price..Ended up switching back to my ZyXEL P-330w router. It's ancient but nonetheless works nicely compared to this doorstep.

My DI-624 expired suddenly, so I had to make an emergency buy locally. This was the only reasonably priced router they had, so I picked it up. I discovered it uncomplicated to get going, and my aging D-Link G cards connected flawlessly. Plus my new laptop with an internal N card connects in N mode. I reset it as soon as in 6 months of ownership, so that is not too poor IMHO.My download speed by means of regular Comcast service is consistently about 20 Mb/s, which is all Comcast allows.I have two XP machines located about 40-50 feet and four walls away and they always connect easily. The Setup Web page could be a bit ovewhelming to the novice user. It has lots of settings that seriously do not want to be employed unless you are undertaking advanced issues over your network. I wish it had NAS, but at this cost you can't actually anticipate it.If you don't know what the settings mean in the Setup Internet page, I suggest you leave them alone.

Decent cost, easy set up, halfway decent signal for 1 or two devices if not too far away. Didn't want the cd setup, manual setup was simple. Speed drops to unusable when all world wide web devices connect and surf at similar time (between 7 to 10 devices). Have to reboot by unplugging about when a day to preserve superior connection. definitely wish I had waited, saved my income and bought a better router. Ended up buying one more 1 soon after just a couple of months due to the fact I just couldn't take fighting with this 1 any additional.

- Inexpensive- Effortless to set up- Fantastic range (covers each floors in our house) - Minor: Unit is very light so any Cat5 cables connected pull it around. - Bought it at Greatest Get...very same cost there but no shipping charge.- Employing it as a wireless access point on a wired network which indicates turning off DHCP and assigning a static IP address to the unit on the subnet- Soon after researching on the internet, I found the a lot more high priced routers were rated no better by users than this one, and I won't be out 贄 if it craps out in a year or two- 1st use with Win7 is a breeze, the config method is entirely automated, not so with Win XP

I purchased this for $28.05 (price match). This works well and has a decent range for my small apartment. If you live in a house you definitely want to spend a bit more on a router, but for small dwellings this does the job. This review was modfied by poster @ 09-24-11 06:35 AM

Fantastic value for standard wireless G / N router. Thorough documentation. Stand for vertical mounting included. LAN cable included. Tiny footprint. n/a Replace an older D-line wireless G router. Nonetheless have to do some tweaking as am not receiving the very same connection speed as with the prior router, even when configured to "G" only. Mixed mode (N / G) affects signal only 2dbm - no much. Specs on this router indicate 24 dbm transmit power (about 300mw) not poor, and must be really competitive with the power output of other routers. I still have to do a firmware upgrade and still want to upgrade networking on my report machine to wireless N. For the price, this was a very good deal.

Uncomplicated to set up. CD worked fine. It works. It's low cost. It works but very slow. About 1Ǚ the speed of the "purple" linksys that has won numerous awards. I can hook my PS3 or desktop directly to my cable modem and get 10-12Mbps download speeds. Going through this D-Link, I get 1-1.5Mbps. Even directly wiring to this router and using it like a switch results in 1-1.5Mbps speeds. How is that probable? It's supposed to be faster considering that it's an "N".

Once set up works very properly. I had a DI-524 which worked fine for years, but lately began to presemt troubles with my VPN (obviously my helpdesk stated absolutely nothing changed witheh VPN and the challenge is mine). This router works properly with it and once set up interface is incredibly good Could not set it up wioth the automated utilities or the CD setup program. I did it manually right after a couple of attempts. For some reason it didn't like my DHCP configuration at first. Hence the four eggs good color

None I purchased for GF and tested against my trusty WRT54G (stock firmware).DIR-601 couldn't d/l a file from Rapidshare over 20Kb/s; trusty Linksys had the file going at 250Kb/s. I tried employing a Rosewill RNX-N100 N-adapter and on a Macbook Air. Same result. Even although the Linksys was G-only, it put the DIR-601 to shame. This is with and with out encryption on.No new firmware is accessible so genuinely there is no fix for it's actually awful efficiency.Guess I'm going to the post office today... Not my 1st D-Link item... but undoubtedly my last.

Small compact design. Wireless N. Can be used as a stand alone WAP. More affordable than acquiring a dedicated WAP. In WAP only mode, the lan ports can nonetheless be utilized as a switch. Wish the LAN ports were gig-e. That is truly a bummer that it's not gig-e as in theory with wireless-n can go faster than 100m. I was so happy when I found out that this can run as a stand alone WAP. Just disable a couple items in the config and it works great. I purchased 2 of these to put in the house and I appear to be able to float between them Even so they have a stronger signal than my old WAP, so from time to time I just stay connected to 1 and not switch. Not a massive deal. I've not dropped below 90% signal but with them.
