Relatively inexpensive. You get what you spend for! If I'm not in line of web site, overall performance is no superior than 802.11G access point. After I save my wifi safety setting, the page for altering them no longer displays till I do a factory reset - even with the required IE (with or with no compatibility mode). I installed a firmware update Ƒ.31) expecting this big bug to be fixed, but it wasn't. (NOTE: I am making use of a 63 character essential from grc.com/password) Having to factory reset an AP to alter the safety settings is unacceptable.

Works like a charm, haven't had any issues with it yet. Push button setup. four ports on the back will allow for multiple devices to be linked producing this perfect for our living room gaming setup, devoid of having to purchase the wireless adapter for our Xbox 360. The push button setup didn't really function as well as intended. Our Cisco E4200 didn't appear to pickup on the broadcast signal as indicated in the manual. Had to do a bit of work to get the two paired, but now that the setup is total, it operates excellent. Purchased this to combat an problem with our PS3 stuttering when streaming via Windows Media Center and TVersity. Getting stuck on two.4Ghz signal wasn't helping at all. With this we get the 5Ghz signal from a space away, and have had no problems with stuttering because.

Really Stable. Utilised as a bridge in between my Netgear WNDR3700 and my Samsung Tv for streaming videos over a 5GHz channel to Ethernet into the Tv and also to a remote laptop or computer through Ethernet. Rock stable for many weeks. Employing WPA2/AES encryption. Stream VUDU HDX no difficulty. Speakeasy speed tests indicates the remote laptop or computer more than the bridge is operating at my max cable rate of 20 Mbps. To get the appropriate display screens when communicating to the DAP-1522 you want to use IE. Firefox will not display all the setup information. A identified problem. None.

Quick, Affordable, 4-1Gbit ethernet Network Ports. (think about it you can plug in Media-Player, XBox, Television, Blu-Ray, whatever, exactly where else can you get that) Slow booting but other than that none so far. I purchased this to run with my Linksys WRT-600N Wireless Router. After flashing the firmware in the DAP1522 with the newest, then changing the default ip from 192.168..50 to 192.168.1.50 so my Linksys could uncover it(used a laptop plugged straight in to the 1522 and had to alter the laptop to static ip utilizing the 192.168..XX numbers to locate the 1522). I did some custom tweaking and lo-and-behold I have a working bridge which is 100ft (my house it that long) away from from my Linksys with 4 true home walls between and I downloaded the four.2gb DVD of Linux more than the Wi-Fi and it took 47min... Screaming speed for Wi-Fi from that range don't you feel. Play's 1080p HD content material flawless.Tips: be patient and tweak it for finest benefits.

Setup was pretty effortless, just utilizing a browser from an Ubuntu machine. By means of a ceiling I'm only getting 1ǘ Mbps, about 1Ǜ my DSL speed and 1኎th the nominal Wifi setting. At the similar location my laptop's built-in Wifi gets total speed. Lousy antenna?

Pretty high speedTrustworthy, the moment set up. The DVR loves it, and it works good for streaming video (Netflix) as well. It was some thing of a nightmare to get this small bugger set up at 1st... but when I ultimately got it going (through a series of Q & A's with Dlink tech help.) it has worked flawlessly.

Trustworthy piece of hardware. Regularly connects to the nearby wireless network and offers up to four desktops with wired connection. Just as quick as making use of my laptop using pure wireless. Took a tiny time to get it all setup the way I like. Wasn't very confident at 1st the difference amongst an access point and bridge, but I got it all figured out.

Set up in 5 minutes, 4 of which were locating a location to plug in the power outlet. Not utilised to points working properly on very first try. No software to set up, just log into DAP-1522, then adjust password and set up WPA. Literally one particular minute. By the time tht I got to yet another area to my laptop, it was up and operating.Well performed, D-Link. Energy connection takes three slots on my energy strip, so switched it to my heavy duty Belkin UPS. Will be acquiring one more to use as a bridge when I get my new Blu-Ray player, so I can stream Netflix.

Excellent to network none wireless devices, but you have to be near the original router. The bridge function only works if you're close to the current router. When the bridge was moved downstairs I could not connect no matter exactly where it was. The signal was to weak to make any connect with the router. They should have an external antenna that can be changed out with a greater Db antenna to improve the range.

Uncomplicated to install. Hardware switch among AP, bridge, and auto is easy for novice customers. Firmware has bugs. Some choices can't be changed. No new firmware is offered from D-Link as I just checked. Incompatible with MacBook Pro. All my laptops can download at high speed but MacBook Pro downloads at 128K/s...MacBook Pro performs fine with other routers and access points so the machine is not an problem. The range and speed are not impressive at all. You might get the maximum N speed if your client is appropriate subsequent to the access point.I am returning it.

Operates nicely as bridge mode. Did not fully test speed and AP mode but appears to do the job for what I do. Synology Server sits behind it with my key workstation and my customers computers. Setup was rather rapid but the instructions were not extremely clear at specific points. Alright if you know what your undertaking but if your new to this it may be a bit tougher than expected. I assume Dlink created one more excellent product. I didn't stress it a lot but if I do I feel my old router will crash before my bridge. Also did not try it in 5ghz. In two.4ghz I am about 30 feets away with a wall and floor/ceiling in amongst and signal is extremely good but 30feet isn't incredibly far so.... I'm nevertheless not as well confident but this is tiny/medium small business material. Most company would go wired anyway but it's nonetheless an fascinating product. I do not regret my obtain.

Setting up this factor couldn't be much easier, at least as an Access Point as I intended. It has a physical switch on the back that lets you pick regardless of whether it will be an AP, a bridge or Auto. Setting it into AP, plugging it into my existing LAN and powering it on was all needed to have a basic wireless network up and operating. You then should access it to add a password, etc... I am really pleased so far. I had some troubles finding into the configuration page. I had to adjust my router address into the 192.168..x range, but not a major deal. Once it is setup, you can return it back and it will grab the appropriate IP address when restarted.

Cons:May need rebooting once every month or two. Price.

Pros:Fast. Lots of settings.
Comment:
I have it running on bridge mode, as my Telus router is on the far end of the house. When it works, it works great. But I've had to reboot it about 8 times over the 5 months I've used it. No big deal for me; my older router was worse. Would hesitate to use it in a business environment.TIP: Try using other channels other than AUTO. On AUTO, it was using channel 6, getting 800KB/s and some disconnects. I scanned my neighbourhood, and 90% are using channel 6. Other 10% on channel 11. I changed to channel 3 and I'm getting 1,030KB/s.

Affordable but that's due to low-cost functionality. See cons for reason. In the Bridge Mode, it does not assistance WPA2-Enterprise/Radius Server and only assistance WPA/WPA2-Private (Should state this in their product description). In the AP mode, it only supports single Band, NOT DUAL BAND. This item would be best if the functionality (WPA/WPA2 enterprise) in AP mode is in the Bridge mode and AP mode help dual band.

30 feet away with a wall among, I get 65 Mbit w/ two.4ghz and 85 Mbit w/ 5ghz. Move additional, and greater stick w/ 2.4 band. Those aren't connection speed numbers- those are delivered iperf numbers (typically much less than half of reported connection speed).Snappy response to web interface, fairly extensive config selections.Runs cool. Soon after getting a Netgear lock up or degrade all the time due to self baking, this was refreshing. Pretty much sent it back initially simply because the 2.4ghz band would be visible, but would fail to connect unless I was inside ten feet of the AP. This is in a remote location with no other two.4ghz interference. Tried all kinds of variations in turning mixed modes on and off or going single band. Absolutely nothing worked. Ultimately, disabling "Auto Channel Scan" on each and every band and locating the appropriate channel to set statically worked and made all the distinction. I consider this a bug in the firmware that genuinely really should be fixed, but hopefully this workaround assists other people. This was all accomplished with: Hardware Version: B1, Firmware Version: two.02NA (latest offered at the time)I had study evaluations of good bandwidth and limited range about this thing prior to buying it, and discounted the critiques that reported it DOA or completely worthless. Even so, following experiencing what I did- I can see why individuals would call it DOA and have a terrible encounter. Even though not DOA, this thing I assume has some crucial firmware bugs that make the distinction among fantastic and horrible experiences. I'm absolutely seeing a correlation between operating temperature and range capability in a lot of models, which might make sense if the cooler ones just put less energy into transmission. Nonetheless, if the hotter ones occasionally put the whole network out of small business on account of their self bake capability, then their range boost benefit may possibly be moot.D-Link: You need to have to fix the automobile scan bug and present an "extra-high" signal strength, and this router will be A+ for absolutely everyone.

Functions fine, great signal strength even even though antenna is internal. No dilemma with the functionalty either in the Access Point or bridge mode. When the device is in the bridge mode, you will only see the configuration alternatives for that mode. To configure as an AP, you have to be in the AP mode, then you will see all the possibilities you would expect.Initial attempts to configure were a bit confusing, but as soon as I got the hang of it, I had no problems. I have several Dlink items and generally I am satisfied with the value and reliability of them.

Easy to setup, fantastic enhance in wireless transfers. I like external antennae; but, I actually can't complain, this factor is terrific. I'm utilizing this product in bridge mode. I have it in my living room, downstairs, connected to a tivo, ps3 and a mac mini. I'm employing it with a DGL-4500 router that I have upstairs. The only difficulty I've had with is was this one particular time immediately after the power went out, absolutely nothing would connect via the bridge; and, I couldn't even log onto the bridge. I rebooted the DGL-4500 and it anything was humming along once again.

These issues are quite simple to set up. We purchased two of these, and they each began to fail following a couple of weeks. The wireless signal strength would drop to very low levels and stay there until a tricky (power) or soft (web interface) reset. So, just about every time we wanted to use 1 in our conference area, we'd just reset it 1st.After about a month of that, although, the wireless got even worse. Slowly, it would take longer to attain an IP address. Slowly, the signal strength got worse, and pages took longer to load. Lastly, we tried resetting to factory defaults. Even that didn't fix it, though.I truly can not recommend this WAP to any individual.
