Comment:
uncomplicated setup. price. had it working on my existing network in ten mins. 100MB speed. no 5GHZ in bridge mode. not a con for me but.... has internal intennas. may well not be perfect for longer distances or if you have to penetrate a couple of walls/floors. I have great signal at 40ft from my wireless router. only one indoor wall to go by way of.

Rock-solid connection, blazing quick speeds, lengthy-distance connection @ 5Ghz! The light parade will light up a dark room...nothing black electrical tape doesn't fix, tricky to set up This was a little tricky to set up. I have very good networking information, so configuring this @ 192.168..50 and setting it to the 192.168.1.50 was the 1st step. Once that is carried out, most people today will be great to go. I had one additional step that took forever. That was a setting in my Netgear WNDR3700 router. I was usually able to get a connection, but it was soooooo slow (both two.four and 5ghz). Then after tweaking my router, I came across a check box to allow WMM (Wifi Multi-Media). As soon as I checked that on...the flood gates opened up. This box is 25' from the router with 3 or 4 walls at 90 degree angles, and this holds the connection @ 5Ghz flawlessly. I will be ordering additional of these to add on in other corners of the home.

This is a genuinely wonderful unit. It took me a whilst to get it configured correctly, but now that it is setup, it's actually quite nice.I setup a lot of computers for clients, and commonly, they don't acquire wireless adapters. This makes it possible for me to build systems, and connect them to the home wireless network for updates making use of an ethernet cable (Bridge mode) because I don't have access to the actual router that is broadcasting the original signal from the DSL modem. This also implies I don't have to install temporary wireless drivers on their computers.Signal has been fantastic. On my wireless laptop, I can download 1.04 Mbps in Internet Explorer, and with my desktop connected to the Bridge via ethernet, I can do the exact same thing. As a bonus, reception has increased in the upstairs of the property as well. Possibly I haven't quite figured out how to run this gear perfectly yet, but it did take me very a bit of time to configure it, and I have a substantial amount of experience in the field undertaking this type of factor.I have it setup appropriate now so that whatever I connect to the bridge through ethernet requirements to be manually configured (ip address, subnet, as nicely as gateway). There should be a way for the bridge to provide DHCP services, but it just doesn't appear to want to co-operate.

Works good with my DGL-4300 Wireless 108G Gaming Router. Setup way quite simple. (I use it in bridge mode.) Light on the front is extremely vivid and annoying. The light isn't genuinely a massive deal, but it is bright even though watching Television. Tone it down a bit :-)

Quick. Uncomplicated Setup esspecially if you have setup a wireless before. So far, reliable and no dropped connections to my DLink DGL 4500 router. No much more wireless adapter cards for me. None. The entire approach of opening the cardboard boxes of my Dlink DGL 4500 router and DAP 1522 bridge/access point to acquiring it completely set up and talking took less than a half hour...wired and wireless. I have seven Windows machines that I presently use (I have a Bachelors in Personal computer Science and Masters in Informations Systems...so NO not toys...its my lab, tired of buying books). Really like this DAP 1522...just ordered a different one from Newegg because e-mail promotion brought the value down to ๕.99. Utilizing this in bridge mode, and have it placed about 30 feet away, upstairs from my DGL 4500 router so it has to go via a wall and floor. Efficiency high 80% when the DAP 1522 is 8 feet away from the router (no obstruction), and mid 60% when I'm employing it upstairs. I'm running it at 5 GHz, will try it at 2.four shortly. I previously had a LinkSys wireless setup for my machines...switched to DLink result in LinkSys was not reliable and dropped connections.

Been running three of these for more than a year in wireless bridge mode. One particular on my neighbors MC (who shares my connection through wireless), one on my MC, and one on the bench for a desktop and plugging in buyer computers in for repair. All have been rock solid, never dropped a connection and by no means needing to be rebooted. This box is wonderful. Acquire it. There are none. Lights appear to bother some, not me. Largely about ladies basically.

D-Link DAP-1522 Xtreme N Duo Wireless Bridge/Access Point
Cons:- Difficult Setup- Some Cross Manufacturer Issues

Pros:- Seamlessly Stream 1080P movies/Tv Shows on Netflix from Game Console- No Connection Drops- 4 Gbit ports!- Can be used as a wireless or a wired connection to several devices.
Comment:
I'm using the DAP-1522 in Bridge mode, the reason is because I have a wireless N router provided to me by my ISP (SMC ), which is hooked up to my modem as well as home theater and a WD Live Hub TV. I have a second tv on the top floor of the home I am in, and even though I would get 4/5 bars and no disconnection issues. Streaming (X-High/HD from Netflix & Other Media Servers) and Playing Online Gaming on my PS3/Xbox 360 was a serious issue. I would constantly get very unreliable speeds. I would run a Netflix movie and my quality would jump from Med/SD to High/HD and then back down to Low/SD. When gaming I would get some rather unimpressive minor lag experiences, when more than 2 people are using the wireless network. Initially, I bought a powerline av kit, which tbh, was a huge failure. That's where I decided to buy the DAP-1522First Setup was quite easy, had to hook up the DAP-1522 with my Laptop and set the IPV4 Config to 192.168.0.xxx and Subnet to 255.255.255.0, After that had to open up Internet Explorer (Seems to work only in IE) and type in /Dlinkap to open up the wireless bridge setup. After that its quite simple, just find your wireless network, enter the password and you are connected. I then disconnected the DAP-1522 and took it upstairs and connected it to my Xbox360 & PS3 Slim, and surprise it didn't work.. lol, waited 10 minutes, still had no "internet based ethernet connection through Wireless Bridge". Decided to Reset the DAP-1522, still no luck, then I went down to my SMC and disconnected it and plugged it back in. Worked. I thought Great!! Wrong.. 10 Minutes later, my whole internet is down across all my wireless/wired devices. Again, I decided to unplug my SMC and plug back in, and it worked for another 10 minutes or so, then went down again. Went into my router settings for SMC (192.168.0.1) Turned UPNP off, and voila! no more disconnections. The DAP-1522 is really a pain to setup with another branded router other than D-Link, but there are workarounds. Once it was up and running, my Netflix streaming was at full X-high/HD (thats 1080P btw) and I rigorously tested this with several tv shows and movies. Gaming was smooth with no interruptions, and all my other wireless devices that were upstairs got solid 5 bars, with less than 2ms ping and getting speeds of close to 1GBPS across local network and 45+Mbps/7+Mbps through internet (I'm promised 50Mbps/10Mbps from my ISP).No more Connection Drops / No more fluctuating Connection Speeds / No more Lag.Really happy with this device, and I would recommend it to anyone. I docked a star because of my setup issues. Otherwise it would've gotten a 5.

Comment:
D-link is a solid business, I've had superior luck with their products in common. Wireless-N regular is the newest and greatest. I've been employing this factor in wireless bridge mode to connect a Vonage VOIP router to my house network with out having to set up my phone's base station close to exactly where my cable modem is. It's been various months and the factor alternates between getting reasonably reliable and totally flaky, with choppy audio and dropped calls. I in no way knew if it was the VOIP router, Vonage, or this Bridge until I finally was in a position to do some A/B testing by working with a extended wired ethernet cable vs. this device. I've determined definitively that this bridge was what was causing my VOIP connection concerns. I'm giving up on this device and will give it to a non-techie neighbor to use as a fundamental access point. I will still acquire D-Link products in the future, but will advise against this certain model to friends and family.

Incredibly straightforward setup. The netbios name enables effortless connection to admin settings. The AP|Auto|Bridge switch is a good touch, but Automobile is all you genuinely need. I'll be dipped, if I can find any. I purchased this to replace a "Client" mode AP (which supplies a single IP to the Host). Because the DAP-1522 is a true bridge, it enables all of my Virtual Machines to use Bridged mode (within VMware) rather of NAT. This permits the VMs to acquire their own DHCP IPs from the Network Router, and makes it possible for for remote access to the VMs from other Network nodes. Outstanding gear!

Wonderful capabilities; dual channel wireless bridge plus 4-way Ethernet switch. How could you go wrong? (Ans beneath) Does not function with Linksys WRT160N router. I spent possibly ten hours attempting to get first 1, then a replacement working with my WRT160N, then identified a series of messages in the D-Link forum about the exact same issue. Apparently, no one has been in a position to make this product connect reliably to a WRT160N in bridge mode. I wish much more producers produced a similar product, but one that would properly connect to the Linksys product. The WRT160N is a excellent router with fantastic range. A item that would connect to it with the similar functions as the DAP-1522 would be excellent to have.

A pretty plastic white brick. DAP-1522 does not have WiFi range extender or WiFi repeater function, had to use an old D-Link WiFi router as an access point connected to the DAP-1522 to extend my existing WiFi network. WPS doesn't appear to function with the Linksys WRT54GL router, had to opt for manual wireless setup. Was obtaining dropped wireless connection till I changed the wireless channel to match that of the Linksys router's wireless channel. Of all the WiFi routers and access points that took just minutes to setup/configure the DAP-1522 is a major hassle and took a number of hours to actually get it to function in wireless bridge mode. You be better off running CAT5 cable, install a switch, hub, AP or router-as-an-AP for the similar quantity of time spent on the DAP-1522.

Superb range, signal strength and it's quickly. Set-up was fairly significantly a breeze and it does every thing I require it to do, it has no issue waking my printer in the basement and my son who rents the upper apartment from us has full coverage. The guest network works good for when my daughter in-law has her friends more than. None I teamed this router up with D-Links DAP-1522 to act as a bridge so my son and daughter in-law could use media center with the x-box to access my htpc. It works like a charm.

Less high-priced than major electronic chains. Multiple inputs for other ethernet enabled devices. Smaller footprint. Transparent as soon as it is correctly configured. Totally free shipping from Newegg and arrived a day early. Configuration was a bit painful at initially. The directions are not bad, but for some cause I had trouble accessing the Login screen for the access point even soon after disabling my house wireless connection and plugging directly into my personal computer's LAN port. Got it to work immediately after 1 hour and various resets and cable swaps. Once configured it worked like a charm. I already had a wireless network setup in my property with a Linksys 802.11G router and cable modem. I needed to connect yet another personal computer I was utilizing as a property server running Freenas and an ethernet enabled HP Color Laser Printer to the wireless network with both the printer and the server located in a diverse space than the router. I set the access point up as a bridge and it worked perfectly enabling me to free of charge up the space for the server and the printer on my rather tiny desk.

Does the job and does it fairly well Disconnects sometimes on Auto-Mode so you want to fine tune the settings and select which mode you want (loses 1 egg for that) A fantastic small bridge that assists solve that nasty wire issue. I have this setup in my living room with all my (current and future) wired devices. It transfers at a great rate but like i stated in the cons, it at times disconnects if youre in auto mode. As soon as setup correctly it works wonderful. Note: I have the DIR-655 so the setup was dead simple with the sync buttons on each.

Wonderful signal, fast, works precisely as promised. Blinking orange light in Bridge mode is ridiculous. It ought to not blink but just stay on. Ought to have less difficult approach of seeing signal strength A lot of dont know how to properly configure bridges and have complications configuring with routers. Also numerous N routers have incredibly poor wall penetration on the five GHZ band. My WRT600N has quite powerful signal and the bridge has 56% signal going via floor and at least 3 walls.

* Small form-factor * Web UI call for world-wide-web explorer for full functionality* 5Ghz 802.11 N only connects on channel 36 (causes compatibility concerns, particularly with DD-WRT. My DAP-1522 doesn't detect my 5Ghz network when I do a website-survey. [Netgear WNDR37AV operating DD-WRT])* Disconnects every 3 weeks or so and will not reconnect until I reset the device to factory settings and reconfigure it. Don't expect a ton of configuration choices if you buy this device. Also, anticipate a lot of tweaking to get full N speeds. For those folks who can't figure out how to get speeds about 130mb/s, bear in mind to setup your bridge and router to use a 40Mhz range instead of 20Mhz.

Works as advertised. I get 300mbps on my laptop no matter where I am in my home. 300mbps is useless when it only has a 100mbps uplink so it is like becoming on a wired 100mb connection. I also wish this device had the capability to add an external antenna so I could location it superior. The LED's are bright as hell. Maintain a Sharpie handy if you don't like network devices pretending they had been night lights.

The create works as advertised. I did manually install this which requires some standard understanding of wireless settings.Range is decent. I am achieving close to 95mb/s actual throughput (testing with wireshark and iperf) working with the 5gz radio and around 85% signal strength. Working with the 2.4 gz band, the throughput was slightly less ࿜-65 mb/s. and 92% signal strength). This is from 2nd to 1st floor and 1 wall at a bad anglePlacement is essential for the 5gz band, most complaints ought to not fully grasp RF properties considering that thier probleems are most most likely a signal strength issue. This unit will not magically get excellent signal strength. Bare minimum admin interface. Contains all of the needed choices and no much more. Not certain if this is a con, but I did have to set DNS to manual on a few of the devices (oanasonic television) I connected to the bridge. Making use of this with a Netgear WNDR3700-100NAS(a terrific router). No matter what poeple report, as soon as correctly setup, this bridge's admin page is reachable from ANY pc on the network. The pc just have to be on the very same subnet. Incredibly sensitive to placement, you ought to attempt different locations for the best signal strength.

Dual band Disappointed with range. This is getting applied with a Dlink DIR-825. 2.4GHz band range is limited to ㅠ'-50' with only 2 walls at correct angles to line of sight. Works excellent with single wall at 25' with two.4GHz band. Poor performance at distance additional than 15' with the 5GHz band.Vibrant blue LEDs can not be turned off.

I am using it in bridge mode and never had any connection problems. I was able to connect it to a Linksys router and then later with a Dlink router (I mean separately, not at the same time). The signal seems to be seriously stable. The WPS button made it seriously simple to connect to the Dlink router. Minor challenge is that the LEDs are really bright and the LED for the AP/Bridge connection blinks. Just putting a piece of paper over it need to fix the difficulty, but it may possibly not look appealing. Without having WPS, performing a manual connection, or finding to the setup screen, is a little tricky, if you don't know how to change your IP address. I truly like this bridge. This is the second 1 that I purchased. I am still working with the very first 1, which I bought a year ago. I am using a N router from Dlink and the connection speed appears to be about 81Mbps
