D-Link DIR-615 Wireless Router
Comment:
This is a good, cheap 802.11n router. I had study about it in Maximum Pc and they gave it a very good assessment. Straightforward setup...works...I don't know what else to ask of a ุ router. We have a DIR-655 hooked up to our test DSL line at function and for typical use, the DIR-615 appears to perform just as effectively as the DIR-655 (was 贄 when we bought it some time back, now on sale for ๑ on newegg). If you want 802.11n and are on a budget, this is a wonderful choice. none yet... So far, this has been additional reliable than the Linksys WRT54GS it replaced. Also, the admin console is significantly superior (easier, much more intuitive, and so forth...) than Linksys'.

Low-cost. This is a terrible replacement for my existing Linksys router. The DMZ function doesn't work, so I can't get my server by way of it, and port forwarding every thing to it doesn't seem to operate either. It does not get to 300 Mbs with a Mac, and even at 144 my network appears slower than ahead of. Not worth the value I paid, and not worth the shipping hassle and restocking fee to return. A rotten egg from rottenegg.

Easy, step by step, idiot-proof installation. Have it for about a month now and no issues what so ever. Signal attain is awsome! Wire could be a small bit longer. But nonetheless worth the buy. Just so this won't go blank, I'd say it could have color selections.

1) Finally! Affordable wireless N.2) QoS really works. My brother torrented files even though I was playing Left 4 Dead two and ping was at 126 ms, when torrenting was shut off ping dropped to 86 ms. With the old router torrenting although gaming would shoot ping from low 100's to more than 600. Even with "QoS" enabled.3) Even for the duration of gaming, it is now feasible for other computers to browse and stream video at complete speed.four) Cable connection to my rig (via CAT5), wireless connection to my BlackBerry Storm2 9550, brother's rig employing a Netgear wireless-G PCI-card, and my HP laptop's constructed-in Intel Wireless-N card.5) Get 4 out of 5 bars service in my living space on my laptop, the router is in my area. Maintain in thoughts this signal is going via 3 walls (the walls are thin in the house so it may well be diverse in a newer property).six) Haven't had to reset it ... yet (see Other Thoughts).7) Saturating router speeds didn't cause reboot (all computer systems streaming video although downloading). 1) No choice to hide SSID broadcast which aids give you a tiny bit of safety. Hopefully this is fixed in the next update.two) Haven't hit the 3-month mark on this D-Hyperlink but (see Other Thoughts). I previously owned a D-Hyperlink WBR-1310. This router was totally fantastic ... for the 1st 3 months I owned it. Sooner or later it was practically nothing but problems. I had to consistently reset it. It refused to enable my BlackBerry to connect. When I would finish gaming it would punt all wireless devices (including my laptop) till I reset it. Attempted firmware updates/rollbacks, playing around with settings/security/built-in firewall/QoS/everything. Either ping was through the roof although gaming, but I could stream video, or ping was under handle whilst gaming, but streaming video would trigger the router to flip out (which expected a really hard-reset considering that no one wired or wireless could connect, all lights would blink rapidly).Basically, what I'm saying is while this router appears to be undertaking the job for now, I'll locate out indefinitely in 3 months. If this a single has problems like the final one particular, it will be my last D-Hyperlink obtain. I'll update this right after three months and let you know if it is still functioning

Low cost. At leat it's working. Only supply me 64Mbs even although I am making use of a exact same brand wireless adapter. I couldn't check the actual transfer speed, but my windows 7 pc complained it's only 65Mbps.However, when I modify to a different router(not far more high priced than this product), my laptop is happy with 300Mbps speed. I am going to return this.Dlink router's interface is this difficult.

Worked nicely until a short time soon after the warranty expired. It was utilized initially for 2 months, then put on the shelf for 9 months and applied once more for 3 months. I attempted to use it lately and the wireless function was dead. The explanation for trying to use it at this time was to fill in for my key D-Link router (WBR-2310) which was numerous years old but failed lately. I bought a hugely rated Linksys router to replace the DIR-615. I have used D-Hyperlink merchandise for 15 years and practically all of them have worked very properly. Nonetheless, I'm concerned that their routers have gone fairly aways down hill. Anyway I am providing D-Hyperlink routers one particular a lot more shot by receiving a DIR-632 to replace the WBR-2310. So far so excellent The DIR-615 didn't last very long. Not a good sign for D-Hyperlink routers

Decent speed, no dropped connections. For me, it has worked as advertised with incredibly tiny hassle. Generally connect at 270mbs with my computer, and no issues with my wife's HP laptop. I leave the router on 24ǝ. None Every when in awhile, my connection will quit operating and I have to reboot the router & modem, but I'm not confident if it's the modem or the router.

Bought this to get a cheap router with wirless "N" to replace my WRT-54G. The old addage, "If it ain't broke, don't fix it" is certainly true with this purchase. It's been nothing but frustrating. I didn't even have one 24 hour period where I didn't hear my kids say "the internet's not working". My other router is still the best! This hunk o'junk didn't even come close to satisfying me. I can't believe that d-link (a well known router name-brand company) can't find a solution to this well known problem. I've read in the last few days TONS of customers with the same problem with this router. Sure, I have RMA insurance, but you know what? for what it'll cost me to send it back it's just not worth it as I don't believe ANY replacement identical router will work any better! I can say this because I bought TWO of them, one for my son's overheating Linksys WRT-310N router. DOUBLE shame on ME, for trusting in this product. The only way satisfaction can be reached at this point would be to have a replacement router OF BETTER QUALITY from them, and what company does that!?!?! Be weary of this item. You have been warned. E-Z-2-Use internet interface. Wonderful implementation of uPnP, pretty featureful. Appears to be supported by DD-WRT (but it's a current occasion, haven't tested but). DHCP server dies following about 8-10 hours, generating this device maddening to use. No help for OpenWRT or Tomato. Signal strength is weaksauce, significantly reduced than what I was expecting. The DHCP server issues tends to make this device incredibly tough to use; all my PCs have static IPs now, which is an okay workaround, but visitors are out of luck with their devices unless they convince me to reconfigure their devices. Rebooting sometimes clears items up, but even that is effective maybe 1 in 3 instances.

works quite good out of the box, with small effort got all the settings suitable, at full speed, five years running from the one particular i ordered fron newegg and not a hickup. setting security was rock strong even soon after unrequired firmware updates, this is a workhorse for sure. it handles all my gaming needs and HD streaming on 2 laptops and 1 desktop, blueray player and 2 smartphones, three ipods, and 2 wifi printers. firmware layout is confusing and not also intuitive. but workable. total connected wireless devices is restricted to a mere 24 devices but thats o.k. on my network numerous hardware versions exist for this model, if your seeking at DD-WRT then watch out because there is a hardware version that is not supported inside this model. just be warry and youll be fine

-It's DD-WRT compatible -Insanely high power requirement out of the box, hugely prone to overheating-Drops wireless connections continually-All indications are that D-Hyperlink has regarded this router a full and utter failure, and are just selling off the excess If you have a DD-WRT compatible version of this router (google 'dir-615 dd-wrt'), then you can make it all greater. The most up-to-date version of DD-WRT cuts the power usage in half and makes the unit run a lot cooler than prior to. Out of the box, this router is just about fully unusable, but with the DD-WRT custom firmware, it's quite significantly a fully new unit.

Extremely easy setup. I've owned netgear, 2wire and linksys routers, this was by far the easiest to setup. The variety is horrible. I have a 1600 sqr ft residence and even though just broadcasting N would get 2 bars on the other side of my house.

* Cheap N router* Fantastic range and speed Something is terribly incorrect with this router. It won't permit my laptops to connect to the wireless network instantly. Perhaps following trying to connect for ten min or so it lastly connects. Also immediately after connecting it keeps dropping out and its yet another five-ten mins to connect. I got so tired of it I am back to my old trendnet router which operates perfect w/o any issues. There are many complains on-line equivalent to the issue I faced. Some state that they have answer but I attempted each and every single on of them, but failed. Remain away from this router.

Very good cost, great looks, dual external antennas place out a robust signal. Allows mixed signal (my telephone connects on G my laptop is N) Becomes useless as quickly as you commence sharing substantial amounts of data. This router is definitely horrible. I've owned 3 wireless routers just before this a single and I under no circumstances had this sort of challenge. If you do any sort of massive file-sharing, this router can't deal with it. Immediately after a handful of minutes it'll continue to do the file share, but you will no longer be able to access any web sites or even the router itself till you unplug the energy cord for a few seconds and then plug it back in... I really feel this defeats the entire point of possessing a wireless router. I've owned it for a year and can't stand it any longer so I'll be buying a unique one particular quickly.

This little workhorse is operating my complete house and then some. I present have 4 desktops wired in, two laptops, one particular wireless gaming system, and a wireless printer and it handles the load just fine. In just below a year I can't keep in mind obtaining to reboot it or possessing a challenge. We can stream movies on Netflix and still use the web on a different laptop. The computer software is straight forward and easy for me. There is none. Our family of four little ones plus adults push this unit tough and there is no concerns. For the most component I don't even feel about the router as it quietly operates day after day.

Firmware is simple to use and quite featureful. The solution only gets two stars simply because the all round firmware knowledge was great. Firmware does not help more than 32 simultaneous connections. This makes the router basically useless for any serious networking, such as the use of Bittorrent or other filesharing applications. Look elsewhere.

Just operates, no questions asked. Has been going powerful for more than 2 years. Fantastic quantity of possibilities in administration. The assist files included in the administration panel can be a small sparse as to what some of the alternatives are for and why you would use one alternative over one more. I did not acquire this unit from Newegg (I necessary it immediately at the time). I've not had any concerns with WiFi since finding it and I have two laptops, a Xbox 360, a Wii and a D-Hyperlink wireless bridge connected to it 24x7. Wired ports work as expected as properly. I wish my cable online was as reputable.

Has very good reception, supports wireless-N. Wired connections are steady. Where do I start? I have to reset every 2-four weeks mainly because my wireless connections can't connect (makes the wife Incredibly unhappy). Boot time is slow, takes 2-four minutes for wireless to reconnect. Does not support open-source firmwares. I picked this unit up for ฤ at a Black Friday sale. I'm glad that's all I paid for it, simply because that's honestly all its worth. The firmware has decent characteristics but I locate it clumsy and awkward to use.

Common firmware is straightforward enough to navigate for a novice however delivers enough characteristics for more sophisticated users. If you will need even far more features hopefully you'll get the appropriate version which can be flashed with DD-WRT, I purchased mine about two months ago and got version E3 which can be changed. If you do need to have tech assistance be prepared with your Patient Individual Hat, it's based in India. -1 egg for the rude individual I had to speak with who got mad and yelled at me when I couldn't realize her due to her thick accent. We spent nearly 2 minutes going back and forth about what she meant by "seepbrup." By the time I finally figured out she was saying "setup" I suspect her head was about to explode. Immediately after 45 minutes of her and her supervisors they agreed with my original assumption, the product was DOA and had to be returned. Honestly Dlink, I know you guys go with India tech assistance to save dollars but dang. I'd gladly pay more for a item if I knew when I known as I would get somebody who I can easily communicate with and doesn't cop 'tude when they suck. Replacement unit has been flawless. Covers a two bedroom apartment via numerous walls with variety to spare, I even run it at the 'low' energy setting. Under no circumstances a dropped signal, never ever a connection concern. I run it in N mode only, WPA2 with MAC address filtering. I run a wired connection for my Windows 7 primarily based desktop and run every little thing else wirelessly which incorporates an Ipod Touch four, Windows vista primarily based laptop and a friends Imac laptop all with no troubles. I run it in mixed g and n mode the handful of occasions the Imac is around, have had problems.
