Comment:
I have been running this board for virtually 3 months now with the following setup: i7 950; G.Skill PI Series 12GB 1600; Mushkin Enhanced Callisto Deluxe 90GB SSD;Win7 64bit; 1 WD 2 TB Caviar Greenɏ WD Velociraptor;WD two TB Cavier Green in external USB3 case; ƒ) 470 GTX in SLI;Ultra 4x 1050It is an upgrade from a heavily over clocked Asus Pro-Turbo with q9550 plus eight GB of DDR2 800 mem. If you certainly need to have an x58 board and are not going to be more than clocking (much), then this board fits the bill very nicely. I do mostly video and photo editing. With my preceding setup, when it came to rendering projects or undertaking batch updates to numerous pictures, I would take a break and leave the machine to chug along on its personal. With the setup I now have, I can operate simultaneously in Photoshop and my video package without having any slowdowns. The USB3 runs faster than I believed it would, which is a pleasant surprise. I have an external WD 2TB drive connected via USB3 and do day-to-day backbackups to it. Not the easiest to keep a stable OC on when running 12GB of memory. I can get it to just below a four. when running 6 GB with three slots populated but jumping to all 6, regardless of voltage settings and so forth. is a no go. It will run fine for a few weeks then crash with a BIOS alert saying “Improper Voltage Settings on Last OC”.Function in progress at this point but only worth a lose of 1 egg. If I were to take a mulligan on this create, I would go with only 6GB of 1333 memory and put the additional money into either a major finish video card or bigger SSD. Make positive you enable Wise and AHCI in the BIOS or it will default to IDE. Also, operating AHCI permitted me to plug in an eSATA adapter from an old create - because it is not native to the board.

USB 3. help is a nice notion. The board is a cool blue color. I've built roughly ten computers in my life and in no way skilled so quite a few troubles as these with my most recent develop. This motherboard gave "Power Error" beep codes out of the box with a 900W PSU which continues to perform flawlessly for similarly demanding builds I've got access to. There's no apparent short, and the concern is intermittent. Conducting load testing on the power supply, I've been capable to rule that out completely. At the urging of others in the community, I'd attempted flashing the BIOS, running with no peripherals attached, and changing QPI voltages, and so on. One particular issue talked about that I hadn't attempted just before returning was switching out the SATA cables, but if that was the problem, then shame on GB. When the power error isn't the problem, the computer system begins booting Windows 7 ahead of anomalously rebooting, ad infinitum. The RAM, HDD, video card, and processor which I bought at the very same time are now operating flawlessly in a replacement ASUS X58 Sabretooth board. I'd been using an ASUS P5N-D based create till a video card burn-out prompted me to upgrade. I believed I'd try GB once again, because ASUS appears to have really a couple of detractors. In a hurry I didn't do any internet analysis on this motherboard. I can now recommend to any interested that you evaluate the number of articles featuring "Gigabyte x-58 bluescreen" to a equivalent search featuring other producers. I don't like how it trys to more than clock your ram to turbo mode on default settings. Fairly solid board if you don't go with this a single go with an asus :)

Effortless installation, great BIOS screen, gives all needed possibilities, good peripheral assistance. Valuable manual None so far. I haven't applied this board for long, but it does what I want it to do. Lots of something I'd need to have, not DOA. That's pretty a lot all I require in a motherboard.

Wrote another assessment below this, exact same pros. I noticed right after a couple weeks that i'm getting the exact same audio challenge as the guy below me here. The HD audio manager intermittently pops up that i have unplugged a device when i have not. It also seems to feel some thing is continually plugged in to the front jacks. You can get rid of the pop up notifications, but of course that doesn't actually fix whatever the true difficulty is.On the other hand, i discovered that by enabling the front and rear to output different streams simultaneously AND disabling front panel jack detection (both below the HD audio control panel) that the notifications appear to cease. It also functions as it's supposed to, two diverse audio streams to headset and speakers.Does not appear to have an effect on efficiency, at least for now. I assume it's some defect with the chip, i just hope it doesn't get worse. I had an MSI board just before this with Realtek HD audio as nicely and did not have this dilemma so i don't know what's going on.

It was a good motherboard (for the most component), lots of bells and whistles ... The PCIE lanes are shared between 8x and 16x slots, which is more of a limitation than you would picture. Nevertheless, I had a individual battle with acquiring this point to function properly. Unfortunately, in the end it turned out that two of the DIMM slots were just dead (yes I tried every thing from memtesting person dimms, checking for bent pins, getting new ram ... the only thing that worked for me was buying a new mobo). Furthermore, Gigabyte consumer service was just horrible - it took them weeks to reply and despite my very descriptive statement they asked me to make certain I was looking at the BIOS and not Windows. Thanks guys... I give you a detailed technical query and you treat me like a five year old. So, I returned this back to newegg for a refund. Be careful refunding combo cpu/mobos to newegg. It lost me about ์ total. Given that CPUs are listed as non-returnable on the net web-site, I had to pay back the ฽ for the combo discount plus spend for shipping out of my pocket. Originally, they had been even going to charge me a ษ restocking fee (for a defective item!) but they eventually agreed to waive that. My assistance is to remain away from the combos and just go for single-item offers on right here considering that returning a single item demands you to pay back the combo discount regardless of the cause.

Great specs - exactly what I was hoping for in a motherboard for my new I7-950 and a very reasonable value. It appears to be DOA. I've verified time and again that every thing is plugged in correctly, along with various tech assistance good friends. I've verified that the power provide 鼮W), energy switch and all other components are in full working order. Nonetheless, the motherboard just won't operate. It's extremely upsetting since I had such high hopes for this motherboard soon after reading mostly wonderful evaluations. Gigabyte assistance has been unresponsive. I'm hoping to give this motherboard a single final shot and get in contact with tech assistance from Gigabyte. If that doesn't pan out in the subsequent handful of days, I guess I'll have to RMA this, but will believe twice about going with Gigabyte again. Third time in 4 years I've had to RMA Gigabyte boards, then constantly end up with a working Asus or eVGA. Haven't got it to function however so I don't know of any 'pros'. I purchased this on impulse, sealed, from a nearby MIcro Center retailer just before Christmas. Arrived DOA, looked like bent pins. 950 cpu, memory installed, board would power up for 3 seconds, die for three seconds, power up for 3 secs, die for three, over & more than.Assistance 1-2-three days to answer. Help - 1 question per email cycle -> 1) Attempted new PS ? two) Tried new memory ? three) Tried outside of case ? four)Checked all cables ? Reseated memory, CPU ? 5) Attempted without having memory ? Soon after all of this e mail back & forth they finally gave me an RMA. Sent back per their instructions. Two weeks later, MB arrived in box with no manual, driver CD, cables, back mounting plate. What a lousy bunch of folks to deal with. I got tired of waiting for a operating motherboard, bought an ASUS P6X58D-E from NewEgg. ASUS worked just fine, no troubles no hangups.I believed I would attempt a Gigabyte board as an alternative of the last 5 ASUS I had employed. I had misplaced the receipt & also didn't begin on the project for 2 months, which is why I didn't take it back to Micro Center. Big mistake. Arrived with bent pins. Lousy help. Kept all of the accessories soon after fixing the 'bent pins'. So I'm out for this board 鴈), 6GB memory (on the shelf) and a spare 650W power supply (shelf). If you obtain a product from these folks, don't say I didn't warn you ... Manufacturer Response:Thank you for your comments. Truthful and constructive opinions are often welcome. tri-channel memory supportusb3spending budget price side facing SATA ports - challenging to get to once the mobo is in your typical ATX case.***main purpose I write this critique*** Memory will run at 1066mhz at most if you run it in trichannel mode. Gigabyte says that you can get it higher via overclocking of course and lists that as a standard. Possibly you could get a 1600 or so speed utilizing dual channel rather, i haven't tried. I wish i would have identified this prior to I bought the board. I wish i could make an edit to the product specifications that advises of the memory scenario. I believe that would have swayed me to spend an additional 30 or so dollars an a various item. tri-channel memory so far is great but I really feel bad for my 1600mhz memory only running at 1066mhz.

If I had to feel of any. it's the men and women that critique boards and gets a DOA and gives it a low rating. DOA takes place guys. This is 1 of the cheapest X58 boards out there. And no SATA 6. I bought this board with a ten% promotional code. I was originally going to go with Asus once more but I wanted to attempt gigabyte for a change.

Booted suitable up no challenge. Will support DDR3 1600 even although it doesn't particularly say it, devoid of any tweaking. 16x PCIe in SLI mode, USB 3., powered usb ports when computer is turned off. Supports triple and dual channel memory. Dual BIOS. Angled SATA ports. No optical digital audio out, only coax. The only PCI slot is unusable with two (dual slot) video cards in. 3rd PCIe slot is 4x only and shares bandwidth with 1 PCIe 1x slot. Not a major deal though seriously since that 1x slot will be covered for very same reason as mentioned prior to.Front panel audio connection is fairly far away...my case's cord practically doesn't make it, even with it running on top of the video card. (Raidmax Smilodon case)Not the board's fault but mine for not carrying out adequate analysis....no IDE ports, lol (or floppy for that matter). Yes i know IDE is dead, it's just that i had an old IDE HDD to back issues up and went to hook it up only to recognize there were no connections for it. But that's what external enclosures are for. It does assistance other RAM speeds not listed, just check their website.I don't want SATA 6. so no concern there. Just be warned if you have an old IDE drive to hook up, you can't. It doesn't come with something added in the box besides four SATA cords ƒ with angled head on 1 end and 2 standard), SLI bridge and the driver CD. My old MSI board had tons of extra goodies. The major factor that surprised me was no beep code speaker came with it...fortunately i already had one particular to use from my old board.Purchased this, the Kingston HyperX 6 gig DDR3 1600 set and an i7 950....all 3 had promo codes and totally free shipping. I enjoy you Newegg!

Fast, cool running very attractive hunting unit. 2 eggs worth to me . Brief in the major 24 pin connector almost fried my rig. When I very first installed my new PSU would not come on so I RMA'd it and although powering my new rig with old PSU. 2nd and 3rd new PSU nonetheless a no go. PSU manufacturer pinned it down not to bad PSUs but a brief in the 24 pin principal on this board. They said if I continued to run it off of the old PSU that (since the older provide could not detect the short ) that if the brief burned by means of then my rig would fry. I'm swithching to a ASUS! GIGABYTE what happened to your quality? This is the second poor board I've had from you in much less than two years Very disappointed in GIGABYTE's QC as of late. -Simple Setup-Outstanding manuals (RTMs) -ICH10R automobile-detected my 4-drive RAID 10 array from a failed As#s board it replaced. No re-configuration needed -phew!-Solid construction, minimal board heat sink obstruction.-DDR3, Triple Channel RAM (RTM).- Excellent Gigabyte internet site, uncomplicated access and dl of drivers and up-to-date drivers (two weeks old). -No IDE. Peripherals should be SATA or USB connected.-Only 1 PCI slot.- No front panel all-in-a single connector and misleading color coding for an Antec 900 -had to RTM for this.-3 PCI-e video slots but only two can do video? I purchased this board to replace a blown As#s DDR2 board which I liked really substantially as I OC-d it to 2100Mhz FSB and was finding over 3.7Ghz off a Wolfdale 8500 E0 on air. The board's no longer obtainable and being the final/best of DDR2 I had to go to DDR3 for similar performance. I essential ICH10R Southbridge to -hopefully- keep away from losing my RAID ten array.Setup:This board with the i7-950, Rosewill RCX-ZAIO-92 CPU cooler, and most importantly G.SKILL 4GB ƒ x 2GB) DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1600 (PC3 12800), Model F3-12800CL9D-4GBNQ as I'd heard some men and women were getting issues with their RAM installs. Setup was a breeze except for my IDE optical drives getting obsolete. I utilised an additional laptop or computer, USB flash drive to dl and install the NIC driver then pulled drivers from Gigabyte web site. Incredibly fast dl occasions from Gigabyte's web site so a major PLUS for them there also most of the drivers were fresh code. On the RAM: It's Triple Channel: Use the QVL, install in the white slots, 3 sticks of RAM only! D

Every little thing worked as it really should, which is actually what you worry about when you initially obtain a mobo. Great BIOS interface for overclocking. Dual bios chips are nice to have. I was torn between a handful of various mobo's and this 1.What I neededin a moboɅ) didn't have 25% negative feedbacktwo) was going to OC without any complicationsthree) could fit SLI without becoming a PITA.This fits the bill perfectly, I couldn't be happier. A note about SLI for those who are curious. Definitely with double pci-e spacing you will have far more area between your cards. With my case, I have a side fan blowing directly on the cards and that offers much more than adequate for them to idle at 32 and 37 degrees C. Fits nicely in my Antec 902 case. Hangs just a little longer than I would like on the mobo startup screen.Make confident you know that there is NO onboard video, so you will need a GFX card to get any display. Just to assist you know which parts this worked nicely with:Intel i7-950 (oc to three.8 at 1.18vƠgb Kingston Hyper X 1600 (KHX1600C9D3K3ǜGX)Zotac GTX 460 2gb SLI (running 5040 x 1050)Corsair HX750w modularAs previously mentioned, it fits perfectly in Antec 902.Corsair h50 push/pull fit with no problems.
