Super rapid shipping arrived in three days.Made my Windows 7 video knowledge go from a 1 to a 6.fourBreathed new life into my 7 year old rig. Set up did not go smoothAfter physically installing the card windows would stop loading promptly right after the "starting windows" logo. After a few moments of pondering I went into the bios and disabled the on board serial ports and parallel port, I do not use them anyway. Right after that windows started fine and I installed the supplied driver without a hitch and card runs excellent. There must have been a conflict with the irq or something initially have not tried the HDMI port but. Excellent card for the dollars. I use Gigabyte merchandise and have generally been pleased. Operating a GA-7NNXP , AMD xp 2800+, 2 gigs of Corsair, 2 SATA WD 75 gig raptors in raid , 2 IDE WD 40 gig 7200rpm drives in raid , Gigabyte GV-R465D2-1 GI video card. Its old but I browse the net so its great adequate for me.

Fairly excellent card for those of us who wish to hold our old AGP primarily based systems operating. Drivers took a although to get sorted out - I took other folks suggestions about not employing the supplied drivers, and going to the AMD / ATI website to get the most up-to-date drivers. This nonetheless wasn't productive. I attempted 4 different sets of driver / CCC patches, to no avail. I ultimately decided to try the Hotfix drivers, even although my failure mode did not match the "only use this patch if you are having this exact dilemma" warning. That worked!.Hotfix patch at:http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/CatalystAGPHotfix.aspx I haven't had the chance to actually place the card through a workout, but it appears to fit my wants to maintain my 6 year old AGP based technique alive.I use this machine to play WoW, and although I haven't noticed any appreciable improve in FPS, I can now turn up my settings and see shadows, water, and distant objects. Previously, I had to leave these factors to my imagination, as there was no way my former video card could show them. Also, I took benefit of the actually inexpensive shipping (default - three day ground) and was very shocked that it really arrived a day early.

Price tag. You get what you pay for. Gigabyte consumer service is horrible...will undoubtedly under no circumstances purchase an additional solution from them. Sent an e mail to get assistance as they don't offer any consumer service get in touch with numbers, and to date have not heard from them. I ended up testing the card on a pal's make and it did not perform there as well. Outcome: DOA.

Great Value. Plugged it in and video worked good. Software installed quickly. Pictures of product show this card coming with the power adapter and the DVI to VGA adapter. It does not come with with either of these items. Place this in my old desktop with Asus motherboard and replaced an Asus geforce FX5200. What a distinction. I can now play Battlefield two on Higher settings. Now I know why I was acquiring beat all the time.

AGP. Godsend for those of us nevertheless making use of older motherboards with AGP slots. Performs much better than my old EVGA nVidia 8600 GS with 512 vRAM. I consider it's pretty quiet, but my old P4 prescott gets warm, and my processor fan is the loudest component in my case. Gaming graphics in my rig got rather a enhance. According to my Windows 7 rating, this card's a 6.4. I have in no way been an ATI fan, so that is a con for me. I couldn't find a different nVidia card to replace mine, so I settled for this. The ATI Catalyst drivers have virtually often offered me troubles, so I produced positive to download the most up-to-date drivers from the web site.In XP, every little thing is excellent. In Windows 7, there is no audio from the HDMI port. Not a huge deal for me, as I use DVI.I under no circumstances could get it to function in Linux. It really crashed a single of my Ubuntu installations, so I can't even revive it with secure video utilizing a different card. Color saturation is absolutely unique with this card versus my nVidia. I think the nVidia's had been truer, but after some tweaking, I've got this seeking quite nice. Overall I'm quite impressed with the card. I like to play LOTRO. Went from medium settings to high settings with max frill distance on 1280x1024. My rig's nearing six years old, operating Windows 7 Qualified with a method rating of four.1 for my old 3.two GHz Prescott P4. It's not a gaming rig, but I am loading many areas more quickly than my buddy's Pc with a Core2Quad and dual nVidia 8800 GTS in SLI. Granted I don't get all the pretty textures! I've tested Prince of Persia, Crysis, and LOTRO. all perform properly. No clue on framerates although, almost everything was visually smooth for me.I've had this card in my Computer for almost 7 months. My technique's been turned off for about 12 hours throughout this time. Card's been solid, I've had no troubles. I utilised to quad-boot XP, 7, Ubuntu 8.04 and 9.10. Card killed 8.04, so I never attempted to set up the drivers for 9.10. I don't need the HDMI port. ATI's drivers don't assistance sound more than HDMI for Win7 on this card. Just a warning.

This is the great card for everyone looking to get some additional life out of their older Computer. The HDMI input on the card is amazing and the video and gaming skills of this card blow my old X1650 out of the water. That being said if your seeking to just enhance your gaming experience go search around for a utilised HD 3850. Ordered from Newegg on a Sunday and had this in my hand on Tuesday. Popped it in my machine and it was breathing fire (not actually). Upgraded from a Radeon 9600XT, it's a Main upgrade from that. I ran Left4Dead on MAX at 35 fps, looked gorgeous. I was capable to run Shatter (this game is addicting as hell and has a superb soundtrack) with 60 constant fps, and am offcially addicted. I fired up CRYSIS and put it to MAX and it ran at 25 fps, that's outstanding given the OLD tech! I've read about the driver issues, and that's the only gripe. I tried installing the drivers from the website and they didn't operate, the resolutions wouldn't switch and I was hunting at 8 bit colour eww! The drivers that COME with the card perform FLAWLESSLY so install these. I believe it's all a technique preference when it comes to drivers but it operates and I'm pleased. Thanks Newegg for putting but yet another smile on my face!

Important overall performance boost. I replaced a generic FX5500 in an older technique (Gigabyte GA-8IEXP, 3.06Ghz P4, 2GB RAM) with this card. WEI scores in Windows 7 went from 3.1 to 5. for regular graphics, and three. to six. for 3D graphics. Screen look is sharper and additional vivid. Worth the income...My 8-year-old machine outperforms a lot of dual-core boxes I've seen. Ok, it's nevertheless an AGP card. A bit pricey. And I also had some problems with receiving a great driver installed. See below... I initially tried installing the most current package from AMD. Seemed to work at first - but I seasoned some crashes. Removed that and attempted the hotfix driver - same deal. One more reviewer suggested what has also worked effectively for me. Initial set up the driver from the CD in the package. When I did that and rebooted, the technique recognized the card as a "Standard VGA" adapter. Don't panic. Download and unpack the Hotfix driver. Making use of Manage Panel - Hardware - Devices Manager interface, right-click the HD4650 and choose "Update Driver Software program".Use the Browse solution (NOT automatically install) to navigate to the folder where the HOTFIX driver is situated (C:\ATI....W7_INF folder by default) and click "Next". Let it do it's factor and then reboot. You don't get the CCC this way, but I haven't missed it. I'm not a hard-core gamer, but have been playing S.T.A.L.K.E.R. Shadow of Chernobyl. Performs nearly as well as on my daughter's 3y/o Duo-Core with it's hot PCIe card

Installation was less complicated than I thought it would be following reading some of the problems cited in the reviews. System is an Abit KV7-v with an Athlon Barton core XP2900, two GB memory. I employed the installation CD and had zero challenges with the set up. I anticipated better performance but what do I know? I'm not a gamer so no comments there. I will say that it's extremely lame that a energy adaptor and DVI/DSUB adaptor are pictured but are not delivered in the box. I RMA'd the initially card and when the second 1 came it as well had nothing at all but the card, manual and CD in the box. Three eggs for dropping the ball on the adaptors. HDMI port is tight to the computer system case and I also had to trim the plug to get it to fit into the card. I replaced an XFX 5200 Nvidia based card with this card. I did not have to uninstall the Nvidia drivers before installing this card. This card provides me a noticable boost in functionality but I did not run any benchmarks ahead of and immediately after. The card is coming with a 4 pin connector now.

When it performs, it operates and is very nice, smooth and stays cool :) really fairly quiet too for possessing a major fan on it. It's a quite heavy, strong card as well. Motherboard/BIOS need to help PCIe to AGP bridge chip. If not, system will be iffy, if it even functions at all. So make confident your board has a fairly recent bios update to have a better possibility of it being compatible. Not saying all older boards can't help it, but its going to be hit or miss if no update. To final evaluation, aid about that is on Gigabyte's site and in the manual about conflicts with employing a sound cards and the constructed in hdmi port on this card. Its quite much one particular or the other. if you want the hdmi port to support sound you have to disable the other sound card in the program and vise-versa. I know kinda iffy as well, but they can only cram so considerably on a graphics card, lol. There are updated drivers on Gigabyte's website but stick to it as the manual says and run the cd it came with very first. If you have a power hungry technique with out this card i propose a lot more than a 400w power supply. this draws alot on its personal and will drag the rest of your technique an may possibly damage it as a result.

Has worked nicely in a Windows 7 Specialist 32 bit atmosphere. EXCEPT (see beneath) 1) HDMI Cable had to be "cut" down on one side to match. Did that with Nippon Labs cable. 2) The OS sees the flat panel Television, but the Television shows"No Signal" Television operates fine with an additional pc that has integrated HDMI on the mboard. Attempted swapping cables. Similar outcome. Additionally same cable configuration performs with a DVD player and the other computers so certainly challenge.3) Somehow I seem to have a version with a 4 pin power connector... not a six pin. The mainboard this is on is an ASUS A8NV, socket 939 board running an AMD FX55 chip. It is best for what I'm attempting to do which is to run a presentation on a 26" flat panel. Pondering if I have conflict going with the Nvidia chipset on the motherboard with the ATI catalyst drivers. Yes - I've applied the Hotfix per ATI's guidelines and nonetheless the identical outcome.Thoughts welcome.

Performs fantastic.I really feel like I have a new computer system now. driver concerns.I initially thought it was working but after a couple of days I kept acquiring a video driver failed warning from windows and the driver would restart then it would operate once again. It would do this 3-5 times a day. Also my quake live would not run, I kept obtaining disconnect symbol and it was unplayable. Study other thoughts, how I fixed it lastly. Right after a double handful of driver re installs and trying different drivers, this is what ultimately worked.First install the driver from the disk that came with the card. Next download the ATI hot repair driver. Immediately after you install it, it will create a folder where the driver is positioned.Subsequent open device manager and go to properties of the video card. Go to driver tab and click update driver. Use the browse my computer system! Do not search automatically! Choose the location of the HotFix folder and pick the the Radeon 4650 card and set up the driver like that. You must do it like this. I installed the hotfix driver commonly and it did not operate. It only worked finally soon after performing it this way. Now a week later and not 1 driver failure and my quake reside operates great. Hope this helps anyone with the exact same challenge I had.

I noticed some improvement over my Visiontek x1650 Pro AGP card but not a whole lot (probably due to my CPU bottlenecking it). Match well in my dimension 4600i and only took me about 20 minutes to install every little thing. I had some difficulties with installing the drivers but that was mainly my fault. The card I got was in fact DDR2 memory and not GDDR2 like they stated. It needed a 4-pin connector and not a six-pin connector like the specs stated. The ports on the back of the video card had been really VGA -> DVI -> HDMI. Doesn't seriously matter to me but it's different from what was listed here.Specs:CPU: Pentium 4 three.06Ghz HTRAM: 3GB DDR 333 (PC 2700)PSU: Corsair 400WIf you have a greater processor than the one I have then you'll most likely see a lot more improvement.

Let me begin by saying that this issue has breathed new life into a HP desktop with on-board Intel Intense Graphics (have to laugh at that a single). Looks to be the highest level of AGP cards left. Installed with no issues except driver - read under. Not in a position to use existing drivers for some explanation. Stated that it had a 6 pin energy connector, so I ordered an adapter considering that only had 4 pin molex connectors on the power supply. Wouldn't you know it, it has the 4 pin molex connector on it. So ordered the adapter for nothing at all. Some had mentioned that it was noisier then they would like, this one particular seems to be really very, and when you put the cover back on the case can not hear it at all.
