1) I have often liked Gigabyte goods; especially those still manufactured in Taiwan as the quality is commonly greater. That is one of my specifications for computer products when achievable. There is a clear distinction in good quality in between boards fabricated in China versus those in Taiwan. In this case, the PCB is clean and appears to be excellent excellent (better than most I have compared to).two) Higher stock clock speed.3) Appears to be good assistance from vendor in the form of fairly frequent BIOS updates to address user complaints.4) No complaint with noise but then again, I have four 500GB drives so I almost certainly can't tell a difference.I would advise the product. 1) Had to flash to bios to bring it up to the existing level. Not a complaint from me but may annoy novice users. At least Gigabyte is delivering support to address problems raised by users. Maintain it upŌ) I bought it simply because it had two fans but they seem to be a little flimsy? Had problems with Gigabyte cards ahead of where soon after a year or so of use the fans would begin to freeze up, spin slower, and/or start off creating noise. Hope they hold out this time. This was my first ATI card. I have utilised just about every generation of NVIDIA card since Riva TNT. I was skeptical of driver top quality. I am not a "religious" user and will give every single item a fair shake. NVIDIA: I chose ATI simply because they run cooler than Fermi.Gigabyte: Make more stuff in Taiwan. Put greater fans on your cards and they will dominate. My skepticism about the fans is why this card gets 4 eggs rather than 5.

worked properly in crossfire for the limited time i had it operating the initially card i got i utilized for a month then put it away to use a 5870. then i ran the two in crossfire for a month. soon after that month my comp wouldn't start off. it turned out the card went bad. I rma'd it and when the new 1 came back it lasted all of 30min in crossfire prior to dying. if i could id get my cash back in a heart beat. i have not gotten close to my moneys worth out of this product and the hassle is causing too significantly pressure. and of course gigabyte will only replace the card and not compensate for the hassle they caused from their poor high quality. Speedy card if you can get it to work effectively. Can be usable if employing 1 monitor only. Crashes, Artifacts, Cursor problems, screen flickering. Can NOT be utilized if you are running dual monitors. I purchased this to do my artwork as a freelance artist. As soon as I booted up with this factor I the problems began. I have been spent at least 50 hours trying to trouble shoot and sift via the stacks of forums posting about comparable issues. Google "ati screen flickering" and you will get a lot of outcomes on 5xxx radeon cards that have these problems. When once more, if your utilizing only one monitor, you may well in no way notice, but if you are like me and its essential for your desktop function environment, you will be pulling your hair out for hours with no solid results. Put your money on a business that produces a excellent card. I had my 9800 GT for two years and it nonetheless runs like a champ, in no way a second thought on graphics troubles.PS. if you have this card, put up a second monitor and attempt to watch a youtube video, let the crashing begin! Got 870 Mhz clock(maximum immediately after upgrading to F12 Bios) and 1000Mhz memory with no efforts employing ATI CCC. My 5850 O.C. beats my stock 6870 by 5%. Runs cooler. My metro 2033, mafia II and starcraft 2 run fantastic at 1920x1080 with high settings. I added a devoted 9800GTX+ for physx and batman asylum and metro 2033 are breathtaking visually speaking. This batch of cards use Hynix memory, those with samsung memory are overclock monsters. Hynix memory is fairly poor for overclocking. I couldn't OC the stock memory speed at 1000Mhz.Expensive compared to faster and less costly 6870 at stock speeds. Must be cheaper, we are not expecting a cannibalization of cypress cards but they have to drop costs for 5850 and 5870 series.

Custom cooling solution supplies much better cooler than the reference style. It comes with a decent quantity of accessories, but a game would have been nice. None For the price this card undoubtedly beats other 5850's with the reference style. Simply because of the high good quality of the cooler and the GDDR5 RAM you should be able to OC this card slightly quicker than some others.

Overclocks like a wild animal. I have this card up to 900mhz on core and 1200mhz on memory making use of MSI Afterburner, runs at 65C at these settings. I didnt not expect to get those sort of overclocks on stock voltage. Im basically amazed. This factor can possibly go greater on the core as well, I just haven't had any reason to go higher. I will do some testing tonight though simply because I am curious how high this thing will go. Card looks really nicely builtMy card came with the F5 bios so it down clocks to save power. Many users who are having issues had the older bios. Gigabyte offers the new F5 bios on their website but my card shipped with the most existing bios. Fan idles at 55% on auto settings, wish it was a little lower. I have a 2100rpm panaflo on my venomous x CPU heatsink so I can't seriously here the GPU fan anyway. You really can't beat this for 跕. Specifically with the clocks you can get this factor to at stock voltage.

I felt like a pioneer buying a card without any reviews. This card possibly didn't get any reviews simply because it fees a lot far more than other 5850's. I bought it simply because it claimed that it runs cooler (I'm a sucker for a cool, quiet, and low power-consuming PCs). Also, I don't like to overclock unless it's definitely required. By having an overclocked card (by the manufacturer's firmware), I don't have to mess about with overclocking settings for a small whilst longer. With that stated, I had initial issues with installing the driver, which was solved by updating C++ redistributables (the installer would do nothing when I clicked on "Install"). With the driver installed, I went straight to playing the most current games (in 1920 x 1200 resolution). It runs Battlefield Poor Company two without having sweating and eats other games for breakfast (Bioshock 2, Mass Impact two, GRID, Dragon Age Origins, and Just Cause 2).Pros (in comparison to 9800 GTX+, my old card):QuietCool Low power consumpti Cons (in comparison to other turbo 5850's):Slower stock powerful memory clockPrice My computer:Winodows 7 64-bit (Ultimate)AMD Phenom II X4 940 Black Edition8 GB RAM

Powerhouse. A much superior bargain than the 5870, can be overclocked to exceptional speeds. Of course, it goes without saying that this can handle virtually any game on maxed settings @ 1080p with full AA and VSync enabled. Appreciate! Overclocking the GPU (more so than it already is) is really limited, only about 10Mhz or so....Pushing it farther than that, which it can simply deal with, calls for flashing the bios and utilizing MSI Afterburner. A really complex method( for me) which I will undertake as soon as I really feel I will need the extra power.I also have occasional flickering problems. Its quite rare and fixable by simply rebooting. Will most most likely be fixed with a driver update sometime soon, honestly isn't that big of a deal. If you strategy on doing Eyefinity, keep in mind that one of your displays Have to be Displayport, or you have to obtain a extremely pricey ACTIVE adapter.

At the time I bought this, this was the best bang for the buck for heavy gamers (since surprassed by the GTX 460 in value I guess). For the same price as a 5850 with reference design, you get a dual-fan setup which not only improves cooling but seems quieter as well (as far as I can tell, relative to my friend's 5850 with reference fan).Maxes out recent games at 1920X1080 no sweat.

Cons: - no active vRAM cooling- cannot control voltage

Pros: - very fast- runs cool- looks great- blue PCB matches motherboard (silly, I know)- overclocks decently well for no voltage control
Comment:
I was in the market for new GPU and considering a 5770 or a 5830, but decided to stretch my budget as much as possible and go with a 5850. I am very satisfied with this card. I was able to price-match the card to $309.99 (from Newegg.ca).The voltage cannot be altered on this particular model which means that the magic 1000MHz core speed will not be attainable unless you get a golden sample. My card runs 875/1150 which is a 150Mhz increase on both the core and memory clocks. All games I have played (aside from Metro 2033 and Crysis, obviously) can be maxed out with full AA and Vsync on.I have not seen core temps go above 65 degrees even after a couple hours of steady gaming. I will be re-seating the heatsink with proper TIM in the next few days and I may try to find some short vRAM-sinks down the road but all in all temps are very good.A great purchase... if these drop  in price significantly in the next few months, I'll be tempted to get another for CF.
