Genius MousePen 8 x 6 USB Graphic Tablet with Wireless Mouse
Cons: mouse......is useless......

Pros: Nice big working area, good response
Comment:
I would've bought it without the mouse, and now I have a mouse sitting in my drawer that only works on the tablet.....making it a wireless mouse with a laser would've been so much more useful.

Cheap, Effective, and great for anyone wanting to try a tablet
Cons: - Pen buttons feel a little cheap- USB Cord (for tablet) isn't exceptionally long- Mouse is tiny and not all that useful

Pros: + The tablet has a large area to write/draw in+ Numerous programmable clickable buttons on the tablet+ Works fine in Windows Vista+ Very affordable for anyone wanting to try tablets+ (Depending how you feel) The pen is pretty thick and works well with my hands
Comment:
I am an absolute amateur at tablets, as this is my first one, so I can't compare it to others. I do know, however, that it is very cheap, and the writable area is quite large. The pressure can take a bit of tweaking to get just right, and it still seems like I have to press a touch harder than I would think when using GIMP (not sure about other programs), but it isn't anything too crazy.Don't expect magic out of this - if you can't draw well (like myself =), it isn't going to magically fix it, but it does allow most people to draw more effectively than with a standard mouse. You can also leave your mouse and keyboard in, if you are more used to using certain shortcuts and the like, but the tablet has 13 buttons for commonly used things (save, copy, paste, undo, etc.), as well as 16 additional buttons, all which can be defined for whatever you want - whether it be to launch certain programs or press particular keys. All in all, I am enjoying the tablet, and I definitely recommend

Finally
Cons: None as of now...it took a while for manufacturer to update drivers. Use to prevent system from booting until unplugged.

Pros: Responsive...great art tool and makes photo editing a snap now...ample quick launch tabs if you have the patience to program them in.
Comment:
It collected dust for some time, but now it gets the usage I had originally hope for

Cons: None so far...

Pros: Works great! CHEAP!
Comment:
I'm using this for teaching/lecturing and so far it's been great. I installed using the newest drivers from the website and all is working fine (Vista 32). I actually haven't even tried the mouse yet though - no need for it.

Works the way it should
Cons: The mouse that comes with it is kind of pointless.

Pros: Great surface area to work on. I only paid $55 here on new egg and it was much cheaper than the smaller models of the other brands. I have great pressure control AND it still works inside Windows7 Release Candidate.
Comment:
It comes with a Trial edition of Correll painter, but I'd much rather use Gimp 2.

Genius MousePen 8 x 6 USB Graphic Tablet with Wireless Mouse
Cons: Not for professionals, batteries within the pen itself might get annoying, but nothing too major

Pros: Cheap, great for learning how to use a tablet... quality is pretty good, seems responsive everywhere on the tablet...

Great item - August 2009!
Cons: None so far - works as described.

Pros: Nice size tablet to work on, mouse works great, so does the pen, very easy to set up, driver CD is ideal for someone with an older laptop / PC.
Comment:
This is a very basic, but very easy to use tablet - if you want to do a little sketching, or start off some art and design on the computer this is perfect for you - also great for a student or someone to try this out who doesn't have too much cash to splurge.

glad i didn't
Cons: placement of the barrel buttons sometimes makes them get pressed by accident, but that's not a big deal if they aren't programmed.

Pros: It's very easy to set up, the table immediately gets recognized when i plug it in, all of the functions they say it has work properly. I can access all levels of pressure after tweaking pressure sensitivity. The hot buttons and the buttons on the pen barrel can be programmed to do whatever I want. Surface area is HUGE. Since i have small hands and use shorter strokes, I can make the surface area smaller.A single AAA battery from the dollar store lasts about 100 hours of use, since I don't use it every waking minute, this is a pretty good rate.Very, very inexpensive, this tablet is SO a better investment for the amateur digital artist.
Comment:
I've had this since Dec 2007 and have used it with a laptop and netbook. It really is ready to use out of the box, but if you want to use the pressure functions, make sure you install the program thats on its cd.

Meh, save for a real tablet instead
Cons: * Mouse and pen both need batteries, which makes the whole thing seem really cheap.* Now this is the bad part. The pen is AWFUL. Yeah you have 1024 levels of pressure, but try to get to the last one. You have to literally push down with your whole hand to get thicker pressure. Otherwise, if you draw or write like a normal person you'll only be getting 10 - 20% of the actual pressure so it's pointless. And when you push down, it feels like the pen's going to break.* The mouse is a piece of junk. It looks like a toy. It's so small that you think it'll get lost. And, everytime you leave it for a few minutes it goes into idle mode to save the battery life, so EVERYTIME you get up and get a snack or something the thing idles, which you have to click and sometimes you'll click something on your screen by accident and it'll close your browser or IM window or such. It's really irritating.

Pros: Got this thing on Newegg because it looked like a great deal. 1024 levels of pressure and 2000 LPI resolution on an 8x6 surface for under $100!? WOW! But, as soon as I started to use it I felt like I should've just saved that money and put it into a real tablet. The only real pros are as follows.* The tablet looks great. I mean, it just looks awesome sitting there by your monitor. It really compliments anything on your desk. * It does not budge at all. This is great if you've got your cat running around and stepping all over, it won't be a problem.* The area is huge. Once you install the drivers for it off the website, go into the configuration and turn off all those hot buttons around the edges. They're pointless, and doing that will give you the optimum space.
Comment:
I know how you guys are thinking reading the reviews for this thing. Wow, look at the specs! This thing looks awesome! Don't buy it. Honestly, I gave this thing to my sister and I ended up using my OLD Wacom Bamboo, which this thing was supposed to REPLACE but it ended up just being a failed investment. However, if you're not a serious animator or designer, go ahead and buy it. If you just need to make signatures, or ocassionally mess around with it just to be able to have a tablet, I'd say go for it. BUT, if you plan on making public art using Photoshop or Flash animation, don't even think about it. Save for one of those $300 - 400 tablets. I know it's a pain and it might take a few months to save, but trust me it'll be worth it.

Works as Advertised
Cons: Some of the technical comments about the lack of a manual and the mouse being small are correct, but not deal killers. If you look, there is a dot on the pen that must be pressed to remove the battery; and, the mouse is small because it operates in the relatively small space of the drawing tablet.

Pros: I bought this for my daughter several months ago and it installed properly and has worked flawlessly. She works with Photoshop CS3 and has created some stunning drawings with this that were impossible with a mouse. I consider this an excellent learning investment before graduating to a more expensive tool.
Comment:
The reason I am writing this review is because I am back to purchase a second Genius MousePen for my son and I read some of the current reviews. I just wanted to share my positive experience with those that are considering this purchase. I gave it 4 eggs because it could be better, but it does work as advertised.

Genius MousePen 8x6 Tablet 200
Cons: -- crashes my laptop (Dell Inspiron 9300 running XP with all service packs installed) on startup, every time. I have to start up my workstation, then plug the tablet in. I have downloaded all current drivers as well, but the problem persists.-- the mouse blows; it has a scroll "rocker switch", not a scroll wheel. You can't "throw" a scrollbar to the top or bottom of the page, you have to hold the scrollswitch down and wait for the default scrolling to get you there. Lame.-- buttons on the barrel work 75% of the time. Do you have a workflow that requires you to click on things? This product might not be right for you.-- Pen sensitivity seems iffy and inconsistent. When using photoshop, brushes with hardness turned way down will sometimes produce a really hard, thin line when I'm drawing lightly-- isn't that the opposite effect I'm looking for?

Pros: -- It works; there is a pen, and a mouse, and a tablet, and when I combine them with movement there is input.-- easy to configure your live area, button mapping, etc.-- really cheap!
Comment:
I bought this because it was as cheap as a good mouse, and I wanted to try out a tablet. There's a reason I've never seen anyone using this brand during my ten years of working in the design field-- it's not professional grade at all. Great inexpensive present for a niece or nephew that might be getting into design. It gets three stars because it is actually a functioning piece of equipment, and not a rock with a logo on it.

Stumped
Cons: n/a

Pros: n/a
Comment:
I'm stumped. I cannot get this to work on my xp home system. Tried the xp 32bit driver, the w2k driver .. went and totally removed all tablet drivers, including those from my old tablet. Have it directly plugged into the back of the pc but nothing more than the led blinking during pen operations. The drivers failed at the last moment of installing (after pre-installing them before connecting the tablet). ...stumped.

Bitter Sweet
Cons: No directions on installing batteries, and by the time you figure it out, you could have broken the pen. DO NOT TAKE OFF THE TIP PORTION OF THE PEN, the battery does come off the back end, It comes off trust me. Pen needing batteries isnt so bad, but the tip is a little flimsy. Website provides little help and manual provides little help.

Pros: Cheap. Large area to draw on. Was purchased from newegg. I had no issue with software w/ Vista.
Comment:
I am very disappointed in this product. I am a graphic artist who was looking for a good deal. Its ridiculous that they would offer a Photoshop trial, when I am trying to use this with PS CS4. It is terrible. EVERY SINGLE TIME I change a setting, brush or option, the pen somehow stops working. In order for it to work again, I would have to minimize PS, then expand it and it works again. Im still in the process figuring out these settings, but this is a ton of work. If your a graphic artist and looking to go cheap, this is for you. If you actually want to get something done well and fast, buy Wacom. Nothing in life thats worth having comes cheap, this product is cheap. I should email Wacom and apologize just for the fact I cheated on them with some cheap floozie.

cute item
Cons: The pen/mouse are sensitive which can be turned down in the settings, but is a little hard to locate. We had to tell it to not update online for drivers because we did not wish to go thru installation difficulties.

Pros: Bought this for my artistic daughter. It took her some time to get used to this item. We installed only from the CD as other reviews suggested and works great. Would recommend this.
Comment:
provide more information in regards to the program for users who are newer to a pc so that they can learn to use the item. Make it more accessable to turn down the sensitivity for the user. Other than that, great product.

Cons: Doesn't have eraser on top, requires a battery, not a walcom tablet so don't expect the surface to be super smooth, it's kinda scratchy,

Pros: Great Sensitivity, Great Price, Works well with Photoshop and Avid media composer. Hot keys are nice but I disable them to take advantage of all the tablet.

Bad news Bear
Cons: Unfortunately, after installing the software a warning came up to check for updates(which we did) We are running Vista home Premium on a Dell XPS 410. It crashed the system throwing it into repair mode which did not work on restore. Had to use Norton restore disc to restore system. Tried installing it a second time and same thing happened. Installed it on a new Gateway DX4710 running Vista Home Premium. Units, pen and mouse did not work. Cetainly not worth the trouble. Lost $11.00 return shipping to NewEgg. Whatever genius designed this Genius Tablet unit must've done it on a bad defunk Monday.

Pros: The size of the tablet is great.
Comment:
Stay with a tried and true unit. Bargains too aften are not and cost more in the end.

Nice For The Price
Cons: Its kinda hard to get used to the pen when you first start out, but with about an hour or two of practice there really isn't anything to it.

Pros: Very nice and cheap tablet. I would recommend this product to anyone, especially if they are just starting out using programs like PhotoShop or Gimp, if they want a very sensitive tablet to do more detailed and more unique work, and/or if they don't have much money. Another cool feature is the hot keys, but if you don't want or like them than you can turn them off.
Comment:
All and all, I give this product a 8/10, because I couldn't figure out how to change out the battery in the pen, and the tablet was too small to suit me.

Awesome deal
Cons: There really isn't much cons for me. The Wacom wireless mouse of my first tablet was a lot better then this one, but really does anybody honestly buy tablets for the mouse? No.

Pros: I had a wacom back in college for graphic design and comparing the two this is overall the better tablet. The area is bigger for the price your getting, I like the pen, and the hot buttons are a nice touch (if you don't like that sort of thing you can disable it of course).
Comment:
Overall for the price (if you look at the 8x6 wacom it's 200 bucks) you get an amazing deal.

Hardware excellent, software not
Cons: Software is poor and downloading new drivers from the net is next to impossible. Keep your CD! Manual is only about 2 pages long. Get too ambitious with the settings and you'll need to re-install the tablet. Reacts strangely when my wireless mouse is near it (not the included mouse). The included mouse is pretty terrible, but honestly, I didn't get this for the mouse. No replacement stylus tips. The side buttons on the stylus are too sensitive, but they can also be disabled in the settings if you choose to.

Pros: The sensitivity is actually really good. If you dont want to use the hot buttons, they can be disabled in the options and that space will become part of the active area of the tablet. Price is astoundingly low. I actually like the stylus. Weighted nicely. It works fine with NiMH rechargeable batteries. Comes with trial versions of Corel Painter X and Photoshop CS3. Transparent surface of active area can have drawings placed beneath it for tracing purposes.
Comment:
It comes with batteries pre-installed, but there's no telling how long they've been in there. Pick up a pack of AAAs to be sure. I know I laid into this on the cons, but dont let it fool you. Overall, taking the price and functionality into consideration, this is an excellent value. It works quite nicely, but at fully 1/4 the price of a Wacom, dont expect everything to be perfect. I just want you to know what to expect.
