Cons:-bios seems to have alot of issues when rebooting-the 2nd fan only does max and there is no option to change ( got a bunch of silent fans and having 1 running at full bore kills the whole point )

Pros:seems to do the job big vrm hopefully it works well with the big fx chip when i get it in

Cons:-none so far

Pros:-Sleek design(black on black)-overclockable-came in rev. 4-price point (got it on sale for 119.99)-many possibilities to expand in the future-It works right out of the box
Comment:
Very affordable for what you get! Was very surprised when i opened the box and got the rev.4. Paired this with a FX8320 oc at 4.4mhz and runs very silent even at high load. I would highly suggest for high end builds but bare in mind no air cooler if u oc over 4.4 for it will heat up. Right now im using a cooler master hyper 212 evo and at idle im getting about 9c and at load 64c. Also ive added several extra fans in the case to achieve these temps(4 noctua nf12 120mm fans and a pci slot fan under the video card as exhaust so that the hot air from card doesnt go through the case). Overall im very impressed with the mother board, very easy to over clock if you know where to look. I do admit there is a lack of options but lets face it for the price point, it's well worth it. UEFI bios is very easy to comprehend (overclock multipliers, voltage, ram overclock etc.)System specs:Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AMD990FX Corsair dominator 16gFX8320Samsung 840 evo 500gXFX R9 290 black editionCooler master 212 evo(in pull configuration)Corsair hx-850Rosewill BLACKHAWK Gaming ATX Mid Tower

Cons:none.

Pros:Affordable, Reliable Brand, One of the best AM3+ Motherboards you can buy.
Comment:
I purchased this motherboard to go with an 8320 build and I am impressed with it so far. It has all of the features that you would want from a high end board without that $200+ Price tag. If you are planning on making a build with an AMD system, I would highly suggest you take a look at this board.

Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AMD990FX ATX AM3+ DDR3 4PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 1PCI SLI SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:running with 8 cores during a benchmark (prime 95 or similar) the northbridge seems to thermal-throttle. There is also no temp sensor for the NB, meaning it took a long time to diagnose the problem. The bios also lacks decent overclocking settings and has almost 0 fan control options. You can set 1 cpu fan as far as I can tell.

Pros:Runs my 8 core amd 8150fx and 8320fx in most applications without problem. Usually is on sale as well, cheapest 990fx board and that may be for a reason...
Comment:
If you wish to overclock, or even to push your stock 8 core to 100% capacity, you will have thermal throttling in seconds. (i've read the NB temp with other sensors, and i've seen it at 80C+) The rev. 4 (this is the 3.0rev) has a heat tube which may well solve this problem, and that is why this board is on sale all the time. My buddy has a 6 core phenom, and overclocked to 3.8ghz it still experiences thermal throttling. This board also experiences a decent amount of vdroop, more than I would have expected from a $150 mobo. I have lost my faith in gigabyte with this product, and now i'll stick with asus.I have experience with no less than 4 of these boards, and they all experience the same thermal issues and vdroop. For a non-overclocker not expecting to push his cpu this is fine, but there are much cheaper options if you want to buy a cheap mobo.If you don't believe there is a lot of info on the web about this board and it's thermal issues.

Gigabyte 990FXA-UD3 AMD990FX ATX AM3+ DDR3 4PCI-E16 2PCI-E1 1PCI SLI SATA3 USB3.0 Motherboard
Cons:Requires installation of drivers to make USB 3.0 and Ethernet work in Windows 7. In Ubuntu 14.04, the Linux kernel must be booted with the "iommu=soft" parameter (ver. 4.0 of the motherboard).

Pros:Backwards compatible with my Phenom II X4 965 cpu. 6 SATA ports (I have a lot of hard drives). Lots of features.
Comment:
This is a very powerful board, with plenty of features, and lots of SATA ports for my hard drives. I am happily dual-booting both Windows 7 and Ubuntu 14.04, and I can also boot Linux LiveCD *.iso images from a USB stick. It's limited to 32 GB of RAM, but I only have 16 GB in it right now, and anyway I will probably upgrade the motherboard at some future point if I needed more RAM.I would give this motherboard 5 stars, except for the necessity of installing drivers to get Ethernet and USB 3.0 working in Windows 7. Linux also requires additional work to activate Ethernet (enable IOMMU in the BIOS) and USB 3.0 (boot the kernel with parameter "iommu=soft"). I've posted a short HOW-TO on these issues in the NCIX message forum for the GA990FXA-UD3.This additional work will probably stump casual users, so I'm downgrading my review to 3 stars.

Cons:It wasn't already this good during the initial releases by Gigabyte.

Pros:Practical layoutGreat price z $115 Tons of features onboard and in the BIOS Overclocks rather well for the costThe pcb is fully mate black.
Comment:
Using this in my file server along side a Phenom IIx4 965 cpu and everything is seemingly running fine. I bouught the UD5 for my second ever custom rig, and I feel that I can say with certainty that this board is superior to the UD5 that I bought 2 years ago.Would recommend to friends especially along side an FX 8300,8310,or 8320/E Processor for those who intend to overclock. For those who just wanna do whatever, it would also be suitable for a 8350/8370/E

Cons:No diagnostic LED or other diagnostic indicator, board mounted power on or reset switch.

Pros:Inexpensive board loaded with features at a good price.
Comment:
When I first booted this system I had no video or post beeps. Without a on board diagnostic LED or other visual indicator, it is difficult to diagnose problems with out extra parts to swap out. The fans were spinning and hard drives had power. It boiled down to a failed CPU. I had another CPU I could swap and try. Cleaning up dielectric grease and remounting a heat sink is one of the last things you really want to do. I like the board but, would probably spend a bit more on one with on-board diagnostics, power and reset switch. If those features don't matter to you, then the board is an excellent choice.

Cons:cpu fan header is a pain to plug in when an air cooler is installed. The bios menu can be a pain, i prefer the menu in asus motherboards. It also does not have any OC profiles which could be helpful.

Pros:Great price, tons of features, good OC motherboard, mate black. Recieved Rev 4.0
Comment:
Great Motherboard. i have this paired with a FX 8320 cpu. I have it OC at 4.4 ghz with an air cooler, holding 53c full load on prime95. I got this as as a bundle deal a while back for under 300$. Great for anyone on a tight budget. It also looks great, all matte black with the grey heatsinks, will match everything in your build.

Pros:Lots of featuresLow cost 990FX chipset board
Comment:
First I tried to run Linux on this board and found that Gigabyte does not really try to support Linux. Then I installed Windows 8.1 and had USB devices throwing errors randomly (at times the mouse would just disappear and sometimes return after disconnecting/reconnecting a few times) and issues with USB3 file transfers. After a few weeks of troubleshooting the USB issues (updated drivers, BIOS settings, disabling USB3) I had to return the board. Could just be a bad board but I found alot of similar reports in forums during troubleshooting.

Owned several of these since they became widely available. Some see the board lay out on this board to be more effective then is UD5 counterpart. (See reviews of UD5)Clocks reasonable well, but you need to make sure you have a good cooling solution to overclock these boards, dependent on the CPU you use. This is advisable for any of the AM3/AM3 Plus CPUs. The ones with the extremely high voltages in particular.Be sure to price matchminus 1 for mail in rebates, ( I don't care for them, especially since they limit how many you submit.)would buy again, (and have, several for builds actually)Edited for horrible Seplling This review was modfied by poster @ 08-27-14 09:35 AM

Shocked to open box & find recieved rev. 4.0! Looks NOTHING like pictured on NCIX. Far as concerned got more than I payed for...4.0 board is pure eye-candy with more features than I'll ever use! Purchased partially based on all the great reviews here & on other sites. Was going for FM2+ build with A-10 7850K,but reviews gaming-wise less than hoped for. Just waiting on FX-XFX Radeon 290 Video Card,so never installed yet..though have never received bad board from NCIX. Order took only 3 days, whereas my remote area usually takes week & half...very impressed NCIX! Can't wait to fire up this beauty!

Pros:Great lookLots of slotsSecond BIOS options
Comment:
This board gives a lot of possibilities for a build. Nice look to it and does what a board does best. The 2nd BIOS does save you a lot of effort if you are unlucky and you crash the main BIOS, never buying a board without this feature againHowever, I found the BIOS to be a little to short on some options, but it will fit most users.Great deal, even better when on sale.

overall a decent motherboard especially if on sale, the black pcb looks really sleek and is very rigid.also a plus is the larger heatsinks and heatpipe over the last revision(what were they thinking).A complaint would be the bios, after using Asus and MSI boards this bios is not that great. If you are looking for a decent and affordable motherboard and not to crazy of an overclock go for this.If you have the extra money I would go for a sabertooth.

Bought this board for a crypto coin mining rig. I've got 3 cards running on it and it works perfectly. The board fits 2 cards easily with enough air flow to prevent overheating. However, if any more cards are used, risers and a larger case will be needed as the cards are too close together. It's not really a design flaw, it just wasn't made specifically for mining. Regardless, it's a great board, I'd buy another one.

Cons:Slow bootPoor CPU fan control

Pros:Top-end chipsetExtremely expandableThick, stiff board
Comment:
This is a great board for the price! I thought I wouldn't be able to afford a board with a top-end chipset like this. Now this one is Gigabyte's lowest-end of this top chipset, but still, it's quite impressive. It works quite well for me - even the USB 3.0 controller seems to work perfectly which is a change since my last motherboard had a very picky USB 3.0 controller. The UEFI takes some getting used to because it's so extensive. It took me a while to figure out how to boot from USB. Hint - hit F12 on boot. This isn't displayed on the screen. You also need to make some settings changes in the UEFI to allow it to boot from USB - from memory, set Legacy Boot at least. My only real complaint with this board is it slows down boot times. On reset it will power everything down and wait a few seconds. Then it will take about 10 seconds to find the video card and activate it. Then 5 more seconds while it displays the "press DEL or F2 for setup", then 5 more seconds, then the OS boots. This really adds up when you have your OS on an SSD and the OS boots up in 5 seconds or less - just waiting for the board to boot the OS takes much longer. This board doesn't control the CPU fan as well as my old board. It revs too high even though the CPU is nice and cool. There's no control to turn it down further. The board does much better with case fans, turning one of them down to less than 400 RPM.The board is thick and stiff - this is probably Gigabyte's "Ultra Durable 3" technology which deposits a thicker copper layer in the board layer cross-section. It's good for CPU heatsinks, there's little or no flex.I'm very pleased with this board and quite surprised I was able to get such an expandable board at this price.
