Always liked Hitachi HDD's final a single i bought was 1-1ǘ ago nonetheless going sturdy! Fairly, Windows 7 picks it up (after you turn it on in Disk Management) 931.51GB of useable space. None to say however Bad to hear that WD mite getting buying them out perhaps this year :( , But oh-nicely it happens. Most of my WD HDD's i got on sale had to return and get replacements & some of them are failing!

purchased two:Mine's operating fine. Wife's is DOA. She didn't get around to employing it till nowadays--two months soon after obtain. NewEgg won't concern an RMA, so the dead drive goes back to Hitachi. For ็, a true bargain--if it performs. Tends to make me wonder if they had a batch of suspect drives and rather than run them by way of QA, they let the customer do the job for them--and incur the hassle and cost of return on the poor ones..

This drive was inexpensive. This drive was dead on arrival. It just clicked repeatedly and loudly. I used a wristband, was careful about handling my components, and anything else I ordered for my construct worked, except this tough drive. Also, it was securely wrapped in a load of bubble wrap, so I doubt it was broken in shipping, but I suppose something is achievable.

The one particular drive that worked, does run well. great read and write speeds. 1 out of two drives arrived DOA. Not going to bother with returning it, not worth the effort. Not that large of a deal for me. I would say that 1 out of ten drives that I buy come DOA regardless of brand. I just got unlucky this time around.

I imply, I am amazed how quiet it is. It is my very first SATA really hard drive not in a laptop and I bought it bare with a docking station. I had to use disk manager to format it prior to any computer system would read or recognize it. Even I was beginning to wonder - partly since of all the claimed DOAs - if I require to send this issue back. Plus, it's so quiet, you can hardly tell it's on. You can hear it when it's accessing, but that is quiet as well. I'm guessing that a bunch of these DOAs were false positives.Can you believe that NewEgg's automated technique thinks that the word "dr^gs" is "obscene"?

This is a Large 1tb drive, with32mb cache and 7200 rpm which provides great overall performance. This drive is quiet, and you do not hear it operating at all. I'm incredibly impressed with the Hitachi deskstars as of late, None. Utilized them on quite a few of my shoppers computer systems, by no means had a difficulty or complaint!

IBM used to tends to make these drives.... far more reader heads than just about any other HDD manufacturer... Extremely reliable! Where is my sandwich!? Bumped my Windows Expertise Index drive score from a 5.2 (seagate) to a 5.9.... Numbers don't imply significantly to me... The drive is rapid and strong... handles all my requests in a extremely timely manor.

Good smooth quiet drive w/ three year warranty. The only prob was no copying software was incorporated so I applied the freebie HDClone. Try not to use UPS if achievable. They took a complete week to get this from California to Colorado. I'd hate to reside in Maine. It would take 3 weeks.Attempt to use USPS. They'll pick up from your door now, too.

Drive arrived well packed in a cardboard sleeve, bubble wrap, and an antistatic bubble bag. The drive passed a Extended Smart Self-Test, and so far is functioning correctly. None yet. This is a bare drive. Just a drive. If you require the cables and such, you'll have to order then seperately.

Inexspensive and wonderful efficiency i do not know why men and women are comlaining about the speed sound they operate wonderful and i can barely hear them now on the speeds quite large files are prettty slow the initial day i got them they seemed slow it to one of them 1 hour to move 200 gb and yes it was on a sata connection i have sata III in my technique but once i consistantly applied it for about 24 hours my speeds doubled so just give then time to break em in they are decent i am running 2 in raid proper now. want i could have gotten them last month when my othe 1tb segate died! Ver excellent price tag and stability. Word to the wise make certain you get the warrantee to just to make confident you have no genuine troubles trust me i want i did on the segate i bought from here that died.

I bought two of these to use in the Synology 2011J NAS unit. Reviews of the Synology NAS indicated 18+ hour waits for RAID 1 intense memory scans to complete.These Hitachi drives completed in less than 12 hours effectively with no defects.I moved a massive quantity of photographs to the Synology unit in incredibly quick order. Previous critiques of the unit named it slow and so on. So far that is not my knowledge.The Synology unit and drives are virtually silent with just a hint of ambient activity.OEM type packaging. None. Good price per storage unit. High excellent solution.

hasnt crashed, lots of room, inexpensive dosnt help 6.0Gb/s but its beneath ์, c'mon have it set up as a striped raid, so not positive how fast it is relative to other hdd

I purchased two of these drives for an md raid1 array in April 2009 which have been operating 24ǝ since. I picked up two much more recently for antoher array. They're quick and low cost, and I've but to have any concerns. The only downside is that they're a BIT loud compared to modern Seagates (or even WDs and Samsungs). My wife commented final night, from the floor above exactly where my server is, "are you tapping?" They make a bit of a clacking sound (like drives of old, or anything enterprise) if you don't turn on the acoustic settings (which does slow them down a bit). Also seem to use a bit additional power than the newer Seagate 5900rpm drives, but that's hardly unexpected. Fairly pleased about the ๆ/ea price the other week.

Quite quick, runs cool, particularly quiet, and suited my desires perfectly. Bought on 3ǜ, installed on threeቧ, and performed a full format and surface scan ahead of loading information to it. Upon personal computer restart on threeቺ, a BIOS Wise status verify reported the drive has reached a vital state and should be replaced promptly. To confirm, I ran a application Sensible check. Sure enough, the reallocated sector count was by way of the roof. Of all the years I've been in the Tech industry, this is only the 3rd hard drive I have had to fail, and the very first Hitachi. Overall, I was very pleased with the drive, and would have offered it a 5 star rating. But since it failed so speedily... you know how it goes. As everyone with IT understanding would advocate, if the information you are storing is important, execute routine backups so situations like this don't be come show stoppers.
